Abstract

Background: Genteng District, located in the center of Surabaya, is home to many micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that hold significant potential for community-based economic growth. However, many of these MSMEs lack formal financial reports, which are essential for evaluating business performance. Objective: This community service initiative aimed to provide training on financial report preparation for MSMEs in Genteng District. Method: The program consisted of several stages: identifying the needs of the MSME partners, conducting socialization and training sessions, and carrying out monitoring and evaluation activities. The program involved 35 MSMEs operating in the culinary and handicraft sectors. Results: The training involved practical guidance, including examples of financial reports and transaction identification for each business. Participants learned how to post transactions into journals and ledgers, leading to the preparation of financial statements in accordance with Financial Accounting Standards (SAK). The training significantly enhanced participants' skills in preparing financial reports. Conclusion: MSMEs have become more aware of the importance of financial report preparation as a tool for evaluating business performance.

Abstract

Background: Technological advancements and recent changes in government policy are not yet fully understood by the public. These developments, which are intended to streamline processes across various sectors-including business sustainability-should be accessible and beneficial to all MSME actors. Objective: This community service activity aimed to raise awareness about the importance of business legality and to assist MSMEs in obtaining a Business Identification Number. Method: The activity was conducted over two days in Gadobangkong Village, involving 30 MSME participants. The service team delivered material on government policies related to online-based business legality, followed by hands-on sessions for creating user accounts and registering businesses to obtain NIBs. Results: Participants successfully created user accounts in the Risk-Based Approach Online Single Submission (RBA OSS) system by registering their National Identity Number and WhatsApp number. Those who completed this step proceeded to register their businesses and obtain NIBs. However, two MSME participants were unable to create OSS accounts due to their NIKs not being recognized by the system. This issue was traced to their ID cards not yet being activated as electronic IDs (e-KTP) in the national civil registration system. Conclusion: All training participants engaged actively in the sessions and were able to follow each step of the business registration process-from account creation to successful issuance of the Business Identification Number.

Abstract

Background: Preliminary studies reveal a notable challenge for English teachers: the difficulty in creating learning materials that effectively meet students' needs. In response, researchers have developed innovative listening materials rooted in the local wisdom and religious values of Gresik, utilizing advanced text-to-speech applications. Objective: This initiative aims to empower English teachers in Gresik by sharing research findings related to these materials. Our goal is to enable teachers to implement these resources in their classrooms and inspire them to create their own engaging learning materials using text-to-speech technology. Method: We engaged with four Madrasah Aliyah schools through socialization techniques, concluding with a feedback questionnaire. Results: The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 95.2% of teachers affirming that the materials aligned with their educational needs. Participants demonstrated significant skill development, transitioning from a lack of knowledge about the application to feeling motivated to create their own resources. Conclusion: This initiative not only enhances teachers’ technical skills but also nurtures their soft skills. By embracing innovative teaching methods, educators are encouraged to tailor learning materials to meet the diverse needs of their students while leveraging Artificial Intelligence to enrich the educational experience.
