Abstract

This study explores environmental ethics from the perspective of the Qur’an and Hadith through a contextual approach, and examines the relevance of Islamic values for contemporary society. Using a qualitative library research method, the study analyzes normative texts of the Qur’an and Hadith, as well as scientific literature related to Islamic environmental ethics. The findings indicate that the Qur’an and Hadith provide ecological principles, including environmental balance (mizan), the prohibition of corruption or environmental destruction (fasad), cleanliness, resource conservation, and compassion for all living beings. The contextual approach allows these values to be translated into modern practices, such as value-based education, public policy, and sustainable social activities. Thus, Islamic environmental ethics is not only normative and moral but also practical, offering concrete guidance for contemporary society in preserving the earth and fostering an ecologically conscious civilization.

Abstract

This study examines the role and thought of Abdul Wahab Chasbullah in the development of Islamic education during Indonesia’s national movement period. The problem addressed is his contribution in responding to educational challenges under colonialism and modernization. The study aims to analyze his role and ideas in shaping Islamic education. It employs a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The findings show that Abdul Wahab Chasbullah played a strategic role through organizational activities and adaptive thinking. He emphasized the balance between traditional Islamic boarding school values and modern needs, as well as the role of scholars in fostering social awareness and nationalism. The study concludes that his ideas remain relevant for contemporary Islamic education development.

Abstract

This research explores the integration of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through an e-learning platform, focusing on opportunities, challenges, and effective implementation strategies. The purpose of this study is to assess how VR and AR technologies can enhance students' engagement, motivation, and understanding of abstract concepts in Islam, such as Islamic history, worship rituals, and holy sites, by providing an interactive and immersive learning experience. Using qualitative library research methods, this study analyzes existing literature on the use of VR and AR in education, particularly in religious studies, and evaluates the potential of these technologies to overcome the limitations of traditional learning methods. The study findings indicate that VR and AR offer significant opportunities for visualizing complex religious content, which can enhance student engagement and understanding. However, the study also identifies several challenges, such as high costs, limited access to necessary technology, and lack of training for educators. The study recommends strategic partnerships with technology providers to reduce costs, the use of cloud-based infrastructure to increase accessibility, and ongoing professional development for educators to ensure the effective use of these technologies. With the right support and strategies, VR and AR can transform Islamic religious education, making it more interactive, affordable, and digitally appropriate.

Abstract

Waqf land is among the most extensive yet historically underused categories of endowed Islamic assets in Indonesia, commonly devoted to devotional rather than productive purposes. This qualitative case study examines the productive management of waqf land by a village-level waqf body in Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province, analysed through three Sustainable Development Goals: no poverty, quality education, and good health and well-being. Using a phenomenological approach with data from observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, the study finds that a shift from single-commodity rubber cultivation to a diversified agribusiness model incorporating oil palm and areca nut generated a modest, recurring income directed toward employment, educational subsidies, and religious infrastructure, while health-related provision remains largely undeveloped. Productive waqf management thus contributes unevenly, but genuinely, to community welfare, and small-scale nazir bodies require staged support to advance multiple development goals simultaneously.
