Tourism is currently the leading sector of the Indonesian government which is packaged in the context of local wisdom. One of the concepts that can raise local wisdom is the concept of relationships tourism. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, in which the researcher conducts involved observations, in-depth interviews, FGDs, and documentation of the object under study. The theory used is the Social Construction of Reality. The results showed that one of the Maluku tourism strategies was to develop the concept of relationships tourism in introducing local wisdom. One of the activities is that tourists are invited directly to live with local communities and carry out activities such as making processed grilled sago with traditional cooking utensils or playing traditional musical instruments on the beach. Abstract

Mall Sampah is present as a solution in effective and efficient waste management that seeks to utilize waste, which has the advantage of added value and utilizes mobile application-based technology. The purpose of this study is to explore the application of CMC in a mobile application-based garbage collection service in the digital era. The research method used in this study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. With data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews with informants. The results of the study found that the application of CMC in the Garbage Mall application can fulfill three important assumptions in CMC, namely communication as a process of exchanging information, where in this application communication interactions have been built between Garbage Mall users and collectors, then mediation acts as a technology that can assist in transferring information such as the Garbage Mall application and several supporting platforms in user communication and garbage pickers such as Whatsapp Messenger, email and telephone, after that the last basic assumption is that the computer is a tool in running technology so that humans can still interact with each other such as using cell phones/ smartphone.

Abstract

The backdrop of this research is set upon the fact that the media exist in the setting of a growing democracy. Media play strategic roles in responding to events. At the local level, local events result from the repeated process of production and reproductions by the press. One of such local events in East Kalimantan was the findings of the National Committee for Human Rights (KOMNAS HAM) on the human rights abuse related to extractive industries, as mentioned in the 2016 report of the organization and had been stated again in 2019. Thus, local media responded to such findings by producing news about it. The findings of this research are that local media, Times Indonesia (national media network), opted not to mention the abuses due to arguments on internal policy and limited resources available to conduct the journalistic activity. Other media, Samarinda Pos and Kaltim Kece, responded differently to the report. The differences regarding the responses of those media outlets are based on applying Robert N. Entman's framing analysis on problem definition, diagnosis of causes, moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. Moreover, this research also showcases the practice of commodification by the media when they talk about human rights abuses.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the framing of the news regarding the paid vaccination policy or “Vaksin Gotong Royong (VRG)” in Republika Online and Tempo.co. This research is a qualitative research with a constructionist paradigm. The research method used is framing analysis by Robert N. Entman. The framing of Republika Online and Tempo.co news is analyzed through four framing elements, which are problem definition, determining the cause of the problem, making moral decisions, and emphasizing problem solving. The result shows that Republika Online and Tempo.co construct the issue of paid vaccination policy with different framing. Republika Online constructed a paid vaccination policy as a strategic and rational effort to deal with Covid-19. Meanwhile, Tempo.co framed the issue of the paid vaccination policy as a polemic that drew a lot of criticism and rejection. The discourse strategies used by the two media can be observed through the way journalists choose diction, writing headlines, selecting sources, and the body of the news as a whole.

Abstract

In 2020, Indonesia has held simultaneous regional head elections which held governor elections in 9 provinces, mayor elections in 37 cities and regent elections in 224 regencies. Candidates in general elections often use surveys as a reference in estimating their potential for victory, even though to conduct popularity, acceptability and electability surveys require a high level of validity and reliability, for this reason, a large survey team is needed in distributing questionnaires and large funds for operational needs, so it is necessary to develop alternative methods of data collection in predicting candidate winner, other than survey methods. Google Trend as a service from Google that provides site search statistics by displaying the popularity of keyword within a certain time range where statistical results can be displayed by region has the potential to be an alternative method to surveys. In several previous studies in the United States and Canada, Google Trend managed to correctly predict the winner of the presidential election in the US and the winner of the election in Canada. This research fills a gap in the Indonesian context to see the accuracy of Google Trend in predicting the winner of the governor election in 9 provinces in the simultaneous regional elections in 2020. As a result, Google Trend succeeded in predicting the victory of candidates in Jambi, Central Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra; while doubtful in Bengkulu and South Kalimantan; and Google Trend is not accurate in predicting in North Kalimantan, Riau Islands and Central Sulawesi. Google Trend's lack of accuracy in predicting the governor's candidate victory in Indonesia is allegedly because Google Trend's services in Indonesia have not reached the district/district level compared to the United States and Canada which have reached the district/sub-district level. In addition, as an alternative method, there are a number of important notes for Google Trend because it has not been able to distinguish the tone of news whether it is positive or negative because Google Trend is still focused on the number of keyword searches that are most sought after by users, even though the tone of the news is important to see public sentiment.

Abstract

In the digital space that is now increasingly dominating our lives, there are challenges and new social situations that require us to adapt. Cognitive Dissonance Theory (CDT) places a focus on seeing human behavior in situations that are incompatible with the cognition he has. After six decades of CDT's existence, there have been many derivative concepts that can be used to analyze causation in this dissonance situation. Selective exposure is a concept derived from CDT that has received attention from researchers in analyzing the phenomenon of filter bubbles and echo chambers. To examine the application of CDT in a contemporary context, in this digital space, this study was conducted by making a literature review that focuses on elaborating on the theory and context of CDT in use. Using qualitative content analysis from a collection of previous studies, this study maps the relevance of theory to the context of situations in the digital space. The conclusion is that CDT, both based on basic assumptions and derived concepts tested by other researchers, can objectively predict the cause-and-effect of a situation that triggers dissonance in a person's cognition when a situation with similar conditions occurs.
