Abstract

This study aims to determine the presence or absence of waxes found in apples sold in Pabaeng-baeng market, Makassar City. Wax substances are additional ingredients that are used to coat the fruit so as not to quickly experience decay or damage. The type of this research is descriptive laboratory observations, namely to identify waxes in apples. This research was conducted on the 3rd of August 2018 at the DIII Laboratory of Health Analyst at the University of East Indonesia, Makassar City. The population in this study were all types of apples sold in the Pabaeng-baeng market in Makassar City with samples of 3 types of apples, each of which were green, red and reddish yellow. The variables in this study are apples and waxes. From the results of this study, it is known that there are waxes in 3 types of apples that are traded in the Pabaeng-baeng market in Makassar City

Abstract

This research is motivated by the examination of urine sediments as an indication of examination for urinary tract disorders such as urinary tract inflammation or stones in the urinary tract. The organic sediment elements that are meaningful in supporting the diagnosis are cylinders, leukocytes, erythrocytes and epithelial cells. One factor to obtain good results is the concentration of sediment deposits at the bottom of the centrifuge tube obtained by proper centrifugation. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was an effect of the length of urine sample centrifugation on the results of urine leukocyte sediment examination in patients with Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). This research is a quasi-experimental in the laboratory, the number of treatments carried out in this study were 4 treatments, namely 3 minutes centrifugation, 6 minutes, 9 minutes and 12 minutes. The results showed that after 3 minutes centrifugation, the amount of urine lekocyte sediment averaged 7.17 cells / LPB, after 6 minutes centrifugation an increase in the amount of urine lecocyte sediment was an average of 9.83 cells / LPB. After 9 minutes centrifugation there was an increase in the amount of urine lekocyte sediment by an average of 16.17 cells / LPB, after 12 minutes centrifugation an increase of an average of 20.67 cells / LPB.

Abstract

Microscopic examination of breathless urine to determine the presence of abnormalities in the kidneys and urinary tract. The urine used is urine needed. Sediment experiments are carried out using an objective (10X) called the small visual field or LPK. Besides that, objective (40X) which is called the big field of vision or LPB is also used. This study is motivated by researchers intending to conduct research on the massive assessment of leukocytes in the urine using microscopic methods with automatic tools. Having conducted research aimed at studying the results of microscopic leukocyte examination of microscopic methods with these automatic devices, use laboratory observational methods. The results of the study on 20 samples obtained were all normal. Conclusions Based on the results of the study showed the results of urine leukocyte examination using microscopic methods with automatic devices obtained the results were all normal. It is necessary to be able to use other examinations to complete data on various examination methods in order for researchers to provide accurate and more accurate examination results.

Abstract

Cholesterol is a blood fat that is synthesized in the liver and is found in red blood cells, cell membranes, and muscles. In thin people there can be an increase in total cholesterol levels in the blood. Increased Total Cholesterol in thin people is inseparable from the factors of food consumed that have high cholesterol levels, such as foods with saturated fats (lemakhew ani). When these types of foods are continuously consumed in the long run, cholesterol levels in the body will increase even though also does not look fat. However, there are several other factors that affect total cholesterol levels in the blood such as genetic factors, diet and lack of exercise. The purpose of this study was to determine total cholesterol levels in thin people. This type of research uses laboratory observational research that is to determine total cholesterol levels in thin people. The results were tabulated in the form of examination data tables of 20 samples, obtained results that were normal <200 mg / dl of 14 people and high total cholesterol levels> 200 mg / dl of 6 people. From the results of research conducted there is an increase in total cholesterol levels in thin people. In order for thin people to consume fibrous foods, reduce foods that contain lots of fat and increase food portions and frequency of eating.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of laboratories that conduct examinations on EDTA blood samples without dilution. The sample taken is the blood of patients who carry out routine examinations in the laboratory of RSUD Syekh Yusuf, Gowa Regency. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there are results of the Westergren method of sedimentary blood examination (LED) for samples with dilution and samples without dilution. This type of research uses laboratory experiments with accidental sampling techniques. The results were processed through a computer using the SPSS program version 22 statistical test methods Paired Sample t Test where t-count (-6.554)> t-table (2.025) and a probability value of 0.000 <0.05 which means Ho is rejected. The conclusion of this study was obtained from the results of the study obtained in the examination of the blood sediment rate (LED) of the Westergren method between the sample with dilution and the sample without dilution (Ho rejected) so that for the LED examination the Westergren method of the sample used is EDTA blood, it is necessary to dilute the sample first.

Abstract

Albumin is the highest plasma protein in the amount of around 60% and has various functions that are very important for health, namely the formation of new cell tissue, accelerating the recovery of damaged body tissue and maintaining fluid balance in blood vessels with fluid in the interstitial cavity within the limits normal. At an advanced age, albumin levels do not increase if there is an increase in the patient's history, and also heredity. This type of research is a descriptive laboratory observation, which is to determine the description of blood albumin levels in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of blood albumin levels in old age. Based on statistical analysis and the average value known to the results of examination of blood albumin levels in old age using a 5010 photometer an average value of 4.15 g / dl. This value indicates that the average patient over 60 years has normal albumin levels. It can be concluded that blood albumin levels in the elderly as many as 20 samples obtained results in 100% normal albumin levels. The suggestions from this study provide knowledge to the public about albumin examination, and further research is carried out with a larger sample quantity to get a more accurate examination of albumin levels.

Abstract

This study is based on the high levels of SGOT and SGPT in Diabetes Mellitus patients. Indonesia is the country with the 4th largest number of people with diabetes mellitus in the world after China, India, and the United States. Every year there are 3.2 million deaths caused directly by Diabetes Mellitus. This study is a laboratory experimental research which is dexritive. Samples in this study were taken by means of purposive sampling as many as 20 blood samples in RSUD Syekh Yusuf Kab. Gowa examined at the Laboratory of Syekh Yusuf District Hospital. Gowa The results of studies conducted on 20 blood samples of Diabetes Mellitus patients obtained 5 (25%) elevated SGOT and SGPT levels and, 15 (75%) normal SGOT and SGPT levels. It is recommended for sufferers to avoid or pay attention to their physical health or complications caused by Diabetes Mellitus. It is necessary to hold extensive public health education, and increase awareness about healthy eating patterns and exercise for a healthier way of life.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the high incidence of mosquito-borne diseases, especially Aedes aegypti. This study aims to identify the larvae of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the bath in the toilet on campus V of the University of East Indonesia Makassar. This research is descriptive, the population in this study is all water in the bath from 15 toilets on campus V of the University of East Indonesia Makassar. The sample used is 5 samples of bathtub water. From the results of the study it can be concluded that there is no larva of Aedes aegypti in the bath in the toilet campus V University of East Indonesia Makassar

Abstract

Cholesterol is a component of fat or lipid substances as we know, fat is one of the nutrients that are needed by our body in addition to other nutrients, such as carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Fat is one of the energy sources that provides the highest calories. Apart from being a source of energy, fat or especially cholesterol is indeed the substance most needed by our body and has an important role in human life. This study aims to determine the description of the results of cholesterol levels in patients with hypertension at Syekh Yusuf Hospital Gowa Regency. The research carried out was a quasi-experimental study that carried out laboratory tests to determine the description of the results of cholesterol levels in patients with hypertension at Syekh Yusuf Regional Hospital, Gowa Regency. The sample in this study was hypertension sufferers in Syekh Yusuf Regional Hospital, Gowa Regency. The results showed that the results found in the analysis of variable cholesterol levels in the sample were not balanced, as many as 1 person (5%) had high cholesterol levels and 19 people (95%) had normal cholesterol levels. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the cholesterol level in RSUD Syekh Yusuf Gowa Regency there is a balanced increase so that it can be concluded that the patient's cholesterol level is at normal limits.

Abstract

Hematocrit examination of the wintrobe method, where erythrocyte solids are obtained by a blood centrifugation process which is determined by the speed and time centrifugation factors. As the number of examinations increases, sometimes the accuracy of centrifugation is often ignored. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of centrifugation time variations on the results of the Macro Method hematocrit examination in D3 Health Analyst Study Program students. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method to find out the effect of variations in playback time on the results of the hematocrit examination of the Wintrobe method. The results of this study were obtained F-counts (0.835) and Ftables (3.35). Hematocrit centrifugation of the 25 minute macro method obtained the lowest levels of 37.5% and the highest is 68%. Centrifugation for 30 minutes obtained the lowest levels of 35.3% and the highest 66%. And lastly carried out centifugation for 35 minutes obtained the lowest levels of 37% and the highest 49.5%. Based on the above conclusions can be used for 25, 30, and 35 minutes centrifuge.
