Abstract

Cancer is the most common chronic disease worldwide, with cervical cancer, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and skin cancer being the most prevalent. Breast cancer ranks second globally after lung cancer. Patients diagnosed with breast cancer undergo changes in their physical, sexual, social, and daily life activities, affecting their overall life quality. One crucial factor that can enhance the life quality for patients is the support from their families, which is a pivotal determinant for individual well-being. To determine the differences in the life quality among breast cancer patients with high and low family support and to analyze the correlation between family support and the breast cancer patients life quality. This study employed a quantitative analytic survey with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital from August to October 2023. The study population included all stage I and II breast cancer patients, totaling 205 outpatient individuals from March to April 2022, with a sample size of 66. Simple random sampling was utilized for participant selection. Data collection involved questionnaire interviews. Data analysis comprised two steps: first, univariate analysis using descriptive and frequency statistics, and second, bivariate analysis using Pearson's test and independent t-test with a significance level of 95% (p-value ≤ 0.05). Statistical results indicated a significant difference in the life quality between breast cancer patients with high and low family support (p=0.037). It was concluded that there is a significantive correlation between family support and the breast cancer patients life quality (p=0.001; r=-0.644). Family support is crucial for patients facing chronic diseases such as breast cancer. It is recommended that families strive to enhance their support to ensure patients' comfort during treatment and therapy programs, ultimately improving the breast cancer patients life quality.  Keyword: Breast Cancer, Family, Life Quality

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are one of the main priorities in the world of health. As the world population soars, deaths from NCDs will increase every year. Globally, there are 41 million cases or the equivalent of 74% of deaths caused by NCDs every year. This research is a type of quantitative research with a cross-sectional type of research conducted on a group of fisherman in Paluh Sibaji Village. This research was carried out on September 21 2023. The population in this research was all fisherman in Paluh Sibaji Village, totaling 200 hundred fisherman. The sampling method used in this research was convenience sampling with a total of 60 fisherman respondents. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence fisherman's blood pressure on the incidence of hypertension (HTN). This research uses multiple linear regression analysis and application analysis using the Statistical Program for Social Sciences tools. The significance value of the consumption pattern, knowledge and attitude variables is below p<0.05, so it can be concluded that consumption pattern, knowledge and attitude influence the incidence of HTN among fisherman in Paluh Sibaji village. This study revealed that the majority of respondents, especially those belonging to the risk group, had experienced HTN. Age at risk was found to have a 2.26% higher likelihood of developing HTN. A large number of respondents showed poor consumption patterns, good knowledge, negative attitudes, and poor behavior regarding HTN prevention. These findings underscore the importance of targeted interventions and awareness campaigns to address these factors and reduce the risk of HTN in the studied population. It is recommended that further research discuss more broadly the factors that can influence the increase in blood pressure in fisherman and conduct a detailed food recall to assess the impact of consumption on HTN. Keywords: Attitude, Consumption pattern , Fisherman, HTN,  Knowledge

Abstract

Deficiency in glucose metabolism due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency leads to increased blood sugar levels beyond the established normal range; this condition is characterized by a collection of symptoms called diabetes mellitus. Dietary adherence in individuals with type II diabetes mellitus can be seen from their level of knowledge. The research aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and dietary compliance in people with type II diabetes mellitus. This research is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted in the Pajang Surakarta Community Health Center area on all Type II Diabetes Mellitus sufferers and was carried out in November 2023. The research population was all Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Pajang Surakarta Community Health Center, as many as 148 people. The research sampling technique was Consecutive Sampling, so the sample obtained was 60. Data was collected using questionnaires and interviews. Analysis of research data with bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test. The research results show a real relationship between the knowledge level and diet adherence with a p-value = 0.040. The level of knowledge about Diabetes can influence adherence to a diabetes diet because patients need good knowledge regarding recognizing the signs and symptoms of DM, the risk of complications occurring, and care in treating Diabetes. Therefore, the role of health workers is needed to hold outreach activities to provide knowledge about diabetes mellitus, starting from the definition, signs and symptoms, risk factors, prevention methods and complications that occur by providing regular and scheduled counselling. Keywords: Dietary Adherence, Diabetes Mellitus, Knowledge

Abstract

Woman shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa) are at risk of developing musculoskeletal disease (MSDS) because of their activities that involve lifting, moving heavy items, carrying weights on the head, bending, or looking up when carrying weights. The majority of women's jobs in Pantai Cermin sub-district are shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa). This study aims to identify risk factors for musculoskeletal disease (MSDS) in female peelers of Kepah Mussels (Geloina Erosa). Using a cross-sectional study design and quantitative methodology, the population in this study was 45 and The sampling technique used a total sampling of 45 respondents. The data was then analyzed using a correlation test with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed that age, length of work, duration of work, weight, and work posture affect the risk of musculoskeletal disease (MSDs) in female shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa) in Pantai Cermin District. But years of service are negatively affected This signifies that the longer a person works, the lower their likelihood of experiencing. One strategy to reduce the possibility of musculoskeletal disease complaints (MSDs) is to increase awareness of work posture, comply with occupational safety health regulations, stretch before starting work to reduce pain in parts of the body that experience musculoskeletal disorders, suggestions for improving sitting posture so that the legs are not bent and rest when the body experiences pain to reduce the risk of complaints. The goal is to prevent work fatigue and complaints of MSDs. Women who do kepah peeling work are also expected to routinely stretch, take adequate rest and to reduce soreness in the calves of female shellfish peelers (Geloina Erosa) in Pantai Cermin District It is recommended to use tables and chairs with parallel heights so as not to bend the legs too much and wrap when stripping shells (Geloina Erosa). Keywords: MSDS risk, Shellfish peeler (Geloina Erosa), Women, Work Posture
