Abstract

Modern electric power system that many its dynamic equipment continuously vulnerable to internal and external disturbances. On the condition of the disorder, it often happen oscillation in each part or between parts of the electrical system is interconnected. These oscillations become a major problem for the stability of the power system. Modern electrical control systems require a sustainable balance between power generation and demand varying loads. Power System Stabilizer and Static Var Compensator is a control device that is used to dampen low frequency oscillations and to provide additional feedback signal to stabilize the system. To increase the damping, system equipped with PSS generator that provides additional feedback to stabilize the signal in the excitation system. It is generally that the machine parameters changed by the load, so the dynamic behavior of the different machines at different operating conditions. Design PIDPSS3B power system stabilizer and PIDSVC controller used aim to get performance and optimum damping. Design and optimization of the proposed has the ability to optimally dampen and suppress errors are minimal.

Abstract

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology is a technique that can be used to overcome multipath fading. The multipath fading is caused by signals coming from several paths that experience different attenuations, delays and phases. In a multipath condition, an impulse that sent by the transmitter, will be received by the recipient not as an impulse but as a pulse with a spread width that called delay spread. Delay spread can cause intersymbol interference (ISI) and bit translation errors from the information received. To determine the effect of delay spread on the MIMO system, then MIMO system performance research was performed on flat fading and frequency selective fading channels using the Space Time Block Code (STBC) coding technique. This research was conducted using MatLab 2018a software. The simulation results show that the MIMO STBC system performance on flat fading channels is better than the MIMO STBC system performance on the frequency selective fading channel. This result is analyzed based on the value of BER vs. Eb/No and eye diagram.

Abstract

Power transformer is very important in electric power system due to its function to raise or lower the voltage according to its designation. On the power side, the power transformer serves to raise voltage to be transmitted to the transmission line. On the transmission side, the power transformer serves to distribute the voltage between the main substations or down to the distribution voltage. On the distribution side, the stresses are channeled to large customers or lowered to serve small and medium customers. As the power transformer is so importance, it is necessary to protect against disturbance, as well as routine and periodic maintenance, so that the power transformer can operate in accordance with the planned time. Some factors that affect the duration of the power transformer is the ambient temperature, transformer oil temperature, and the pattern of load. Load that exceeds the maximum efficiency of the transformer which is 80% of its capacity will cause an increase in transformer oil temperature. Transformer oil, other than as a cooling medium also serves as an insulator. Increasing the temperature of transformer oil will affect its ability as an isolator that is to isolate the parts that are held in the transformer, such as iron core and the coils. If this is prolonged and not handled properly, it will lead to failure / breakdown of insulation resulting in short circuit between parts so that the power transformer will be damaged. PLN data indicates that the power transformer is still burdened exceeding maximum efficiency especially operating in the work area of PLN South Bali Area. The results of this study, on distribution transformers with different loads, in DS 137, DS 263 and DS 363, show that DS 363 transformer with loading above 80% has the shortest residual life time compared to DS 263 and DS 137 which loading less than 80%.

Abstract

This paper study the performance of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system over AWGN and Rayleigh fading channels. OFDM performs multi-carrier transmission where all the subcarriers are orthogonal to each other. The channel coding was applied to improve the OFDM system performance. Reed Solomon (RS) codes was chosen that an efficient channel coding algorithm and has intense error correction ability. Adding the benefits of multicarrier OFDM system and Reed Solomon codes to achieve the expected system performance. The coded OFDM system was modeled over and simulated using Matlab. The bit error rate (BER) and energy bit (Eb) per noise power density (No) was performed during system simulations. QPSK modulation was used to modulate the random bits. From the simulation results It can be seen that BER vs. EB/No parameter for Coded OFDM system lower than uncoded OFDM. This was because RS codes succeed to correcting the error generated along data transmission.

Abstract

AC (Air Conditioner), TV, lamp, LCD and others are categorized as nonlinear load generating harmonics. The high content of harmonics has a negative impact on the quality of electrical power. The result of measurement of THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) current at 9 ohm ground resistance value at phase R = 9,8%, phase S = 11,0%, phase T = 7,5% exceed from standard value IEEE 519 Year 2014 equal to ? 5 , 0%, THD measurement of phase voltage R = 1.4%, phase S = 1.2%, phase T = 1.3%, meet the maximum THDv standard of ? 5%. To overcome this problem, it was observed the effect of the value of ground resistance to THDi and THDv on the electrical system of the College of Engineering Faculty of Denpasar. This method of analysis with ETAP software simulation. With grounding system ? 3 ohm only effect on current THD only with decreasing value of THDi become: phasa R = 4,2%, phase S = 5% and phase T = 4,3%, meaning with grounding system ? 3 ohm THD current fulfill IEEE 519 - 2014 standard <5%. while THD voltage has no effect (THD value of fixed voltage). Several studies have suggested that THD repair can be done by filter installation. However in this study the installation of grounding system ? 3 ohms can reduce the value of current THD.

Abstract

This paper investigates clipping and filtering techniques in reducing peak average power ratio (PAPR) of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. The concept of OFDM is to split a high speed serial data into parallel data at a lower speed, then the parallel data carried by mutually orthogonal subcarriers. The high of PAPR is one of disadvantages of OFDM system. The high PAPR can damages the form of OFDM and reduces its performance. The purpose of this study is to reduce PAPR using simulation. OFDM was simulated with and without clipping filtering then compared. The methods used to reduce PAPR was clipping and filtering technique. Clipping and filtering technique operates by clipping the output of inverse Fourier transform that exceed the threshold. Graphics PAPR vs. CCDF was used to evaluate the performance of OFDM systems. PAPR for OFDM system using Fourier transform when CCDF = 10-3 is 11,2 dB, with classical clipping PAPR was 4,1 dB and PAPR 4,6 dB when with deep clipping.

Abstract

The increase of client devices along with the growth of internet access currently affects to security threats at the user's identity. Identifiers that commonly used today, such as SSID, IP address, MAC address, cookies, and session IDs have a weakness, which is easy to duplicate. Computer identification based on clock skew is an identification method that is not easily duplicated because it is based on the hardware characteristics of the device. Clock skew is the deviation of the clock to the true time which causes each clock to run at a slightly different speed. This study aims to determine the effect of network types to the clock skew stability as a reliable device identification method. This research was conducted on five client computers which running windows and linux operating systems. The measurement was conducted based on three different types of area networks, i.e., LAN, MAN, and WAN. The skew estimation was done using two linear methods i.e., linear programming and linear regression. The measurement results show that the most stable clock skew is found on the LAN measurement because it meets the threshold tolerance limit i.e., ±1 ppm. Skew estimation using linear programming method has better accuracy than linear regression method.

Abstract

Increased THD (Total Harmonics Distortion) in the utility, caused by the increasing operation of non-linear loads. High THD current (THDi) will affect the increase of power losses in the power system. In this study, THD analysis of the simulation results was performed according to IEEE 519-2014 standard on existing condition, shunt active filter operating condition and shunt active filter operating conditions with PID (proportional integral derivative) control, also analyzed losses before and after harmonic impact. The result of losses analysis on existing condition: losses phases R 3.38%, phase S 2.29%, phase T 3.33%. Total losses on existing condition 9.01%. Operation with active shunt filter is obtained losses for phase R 1.60%, phase S 2.46%, phase T 1.67%, so the total losses become 5.73%. While using the active filter with PID control for losses phase R 1.02%, phases S 0.89%, phases T 0.99%, so the total losses fell to 2.18%

Abstract

This paper proposed Canny edge detection to detected saliency map on traffic sign. The edge detection functions by identifying the bounds from an object on an image. The edge of an image is an area that has a strong intensity of light. The pixel intensity of an image changes from low to high values or otherwise. Detecting the edge of an image significantly will decrease the amount of data and filters insignificant information by not deleting necessary structure from the image. The image used for this paper is a digital capture of a traffic sign with a background. The result of this study shows that Canny edge detection creates saliency map from the traffic sign and separates the road sign from the background. The image result tested by calculating the saliency distance between a tested image and trained image using normalized Euclidean distance. The value ofnormalized Euclidean distance is set between 0 to 2. The testing process is done by calculating the nearest distance between the tested vector features and trained vector features. From the examination as a whole, it can be concluded that road sign detection using saliency map model can be built by Canny edge detection. From the whole system examination, it resulted a accuracy value of 0,65. This value shows that the data was correctly classified by 65%. The precision value has an outcome of 0,64, shows that the exact result of the classification is 64%. The recall value has an outcome of 0,94. This value shows that the success rate of recognizing a data from the whole data is 94%.
