The objective of the research is to investigate the use of transitivity process in students' descriptive text and to find out the most dominant process of transitivity used. The data analyzed were 46 clauses taken from descriptive text written by six students of tenth grade of senior high school. In this research, the writers used descriptive qualitative method. The result of the research showed that there were 4 types of processes that occurred in the data, they were: material process (8, 70%), mental process (17, 39%), relational process (45, 65%), and existential process (28, 26%). While, behavioral and verbal process were not found. The most dominant process found was relational process. It implies that students were aware how descriptive text should be written, since one of language features in descriptive text is using clauses with relational process.

This research entitled the use of Role Play Technique to improve students’ speaking skill. The objective of the research is to improve Speaking skill using Role Play technique. This research used Classroom Action Research. Role play can be trusted to help students speaking ability. The population of the research were the students at SMKN 3 Karawang in Academic years 2017 – 2018. The total population of students in this academic years is 300 Students. The number of sample was 30 students. The data was gathered from test and observation. The average score of test was Cycle I 58.08 and Cycle II 58.06. After the implementation of Role Play activities in every cycle, the students’ speaking score were getting better. It can be seen from the result of students’ average score Cycle I was 83.07 and Cycle II was 77.08. It can be concluded that Role play can improve students’ speaking skill.Keywords: Role play, speaking, CAR

AbstractThe research about speaking language section of discrouse analysis turn taking analyze language. In this research, the researchers use qualitative method and the data is obtained from the video talkshow in the youtube about “Learn English with Taylor Swift”. In the talkshow, there are two persons that have in video, one speaker and one hearer, and tells about someone using social media, trips to Asia, and tour. The talkshow has a message of education, motivation for people to use social media. The purpose of this study is to find out the talkshow had a turn to speak. Analyze in video is the main activity in this research. In the video talkshow the speaker gives questions according to the topics that are brought or presented. In this talkshow the speaker ended the event with the closing. Keywords: Turn taking, talkshow , discourse analysis, qualitative.

In a modern era many students like to learn english easily, many students learn english with listening something, like listening music in their mobile phone or in the radio, in this era we can find the western song in many place, like in the mall, radio, and so on. So we can hear the western song and learn listening english easily. Teaching listening is teaching students to learn to listen to languages and conversations using the ear. The reason for students being able to listen to spoken English is by letting them listen to variations and accents rather than just the teachers voice with its own idiosyncrasies. Listening is a very important skill in language learning and can’t be underestimated especially in an academic context and is separated in language so that listening has an important role in teaching the language including teaching English. The purpose of this study is to find out how English teacher use TOEIC applications in listening to students and how students respond to the use of TOEIC applications in student listening. Most students argue that the hardest is listening, and some of them even have difficulties in understanding the teachers who are teaching English. It states that students still have difficulty in listening and become one of the obstacles in learning English. The used of media as a tool or means in teaching and learning English that is very useful for students and teachers. This research is to know how big influence of TOEIC application media in learning to listen English. The design taken in this study is pre-experimental design and the author also uses quantitative research methods in conducting research. Subjects in this study were students of class XI AKP1 in SMKN 2 Karawang which amounted to 32 students as a sample. The author used a listening test to collect data. The procedure used in this research is pretest, treatment and posttest. Pretest was given to students to measure their knowledge before treatment, treatment is the researcher teach about TOEIC application, and posttest is a final result from the treatment.

This study aims to improve reading comprehension for the eleventh-grade students at SMA MATHLAUL ANWAR, consisting of 30 students in using the think-pair-share model. The researchers applied the think-pair-share model because this considered the model as one of the best teaching methods for teaching. Students use the think-pair-share model in learning activities to raise their reading comprehension, increase their enthusiasm, and become active in classroom learning. Besides, the benefits of using the Think-Pair-Share method in reading discussions will reveal opportunities to encourage students to be active in the learning process, such as discussing and helping each other solve problems or assignments. That will have a positive impact on students in accepted learning material provided by the teacher. In this study, the writer researched three cycles to achieve student improvement in reading comprehension. The results of the tests that have been done lead to the mean grade of students in each cycle as a follow-up pre-cycle is 68, while in the second cycle 71, and the last can be seen as a terrace in the third cycle 75. Based on the mean grade of two cycles above, we can prove that the think-pair-share technique has succeeded in increasing the students' ability to teach reading comprehension in analytical exposition texts.

The objective of this research is to know how to use of reciprocal methods to teaching reading comprehension of the senior high school in second grade. The background of the research is to help students’ to cope the difficulties in reading report text, because there are still many students who find it difficult to read English and the lack of reading comprehension of students in class XI Animation of SMK TI Garuda Nusantara Cimahi with the aim to know whether there is an increase in student scores after using the Reciprocal Learning method. The author uses the reciprocal method to increase the ability of students to read comprehension. This research is quantitative by using experimental research methods. After conducting the research obtained the data pre-test (80) and post-test (95). Based on these data, it can be concluded that the use of reciprocal methods in the report text material can improve reading comprehension in students of class XI Animation 2 Vocational School of TI Garuda Nusantara Cimahi.

Speaking is the one of language skill that is used in communication to deliver the intention of utterances. speaking is an activity that can not be separated with teaching and learning process. speaking has become a skill that should be owned by teacher. Information gap activity is the activity that each student have different information that should be completed with exchanging the information with their friend because there is a gap between the information. The objective of the research is whether information gap activity effective to the students’ speaking ability. The writer used quantitative research design and for the method is pre-experimental method. The participants of the research is X IPA 2 of MAN 4 Karawang consist of thirty two students. The data conducted through pretest and posttest and computed using SPSS 24. The result of the test is effective. From the normality of distribution test, the result of the test is normal, significance value on Kolmogrov Smirnov is 0.078 on pretest and 0.073 on posttest. It means the data is normally distributed because the value is higher than 0.05. The result of significance value is 0.312 it is higher than 0.05, as a result the test is homogen. Beside that, in one sample t-test, the result of significance two tailed is 0.000 and lower than 0.05. from the data above, it can be concluded that the null hypothesis of this research that is “Information gap activity is not effective to teach speaking” is rejected. In other word, it was proven that teaching speaking using information gap activity is effective to be used by teacher.Key words: Speaking, Information gap.

The aims of this research are to identify the types of the code switching appeared on Facebook for the reason phenomena and to investigate the reasons that affect the occurrence of code switching in Facebook. This research uses qualitative method with Hoffman (1991) and Saville-Troike (1986) theories. The data were collected from photos caption and status on Facebook during twenty days from 1st January 2018 to 20th January 2018, that were posted by 90 users who were followed by the researchers on Facebook. 120 data have found on status and photo caption facebok. The result of this research shows that there are three types of code switching on Facebook, namely Inter-sentential switching with 54 data, Intra-sentential switching with 50 data, and Emblematic switching with 16 data. Besides that there are five reasons which influence the use of code switching on Facebook, namely talking about particular topic with 39 cases found, quoting somebody else with 13 cases found, being emphatic about something (express solidarity) with 45 cases found, Interjection (inserting sentence fillers or sentence connectors) with 10 cases found, and real lexical need with 13 cases found. The dominant reasons which influence the use of code switching on Facebook are being emphatic about something (express solidarity) with 45 cases.

The objective in this case to examine how English grammar competence can influence speaking fluency. The authorcharity quantitative method, and correlation research design. The population was 170 of tenth grade students from 6 classes, at MAN Cimahi in academic year 2018/2019 and the sample was 34 students from design class. The instruments took grammar test and speaking interview. The student’s grammar competence scores (X) and the student’s speaking fluency (Y) were analysed and it is found that the distribution of data is not normal. The result of data analysis showed that correlation coefficient (r) equals to 0.259, larger than social significance value which is 0.05. the interpretation of the relationship is weak correlation. The Null hypothesis is accepted.Keywords:Grammar Competence, Speaking Fluency

This research is a linguistic study on record politeness of pragmatic in tinker bell and great fairy rescue movie, which aims to know many types of politeness and the most dominant politeness in the film. Researchers use qualitative method and the data are analyzed based on the politeness theory by Brown and Lavinson (1987). The movie lasted 1 hour 25 minutes, including 30 conversation. The result showed that there are four politeness, they are conversation bald on record (16), positive politeness (8), negative politeness (2), and off record (2). In addition the most of dominant politeness is bald on record. It means that the bald on record is an order that is directly when a someone do something in urgent situation
