Communication is one of the most interactions that are often carried out as Social beings. This communication can be done if both speaker and listener can convey and understand their thoughts by using language. Language can be learned through discourse that includes all spoken or written text. The study of language in use is known as discourse analysis. The most important part of discourse analysis especially for written discourse is Cohesion which is divided into grammatical and lexical cohesion. There are two main types in lexical cohesion: reiteration and collocation. The researchers chose folklore as an object of research since it is a type of written discourse. The objective of this research is to identify the types of lexical cohesion that occur often in folklore. The subject of this research is “Little Red Riding Hood” folklore written by Leanne Guenther. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods and focuses on lexical cohesion, namely repetition and synonymy. The instrument that the researchers used are other journals, articles, electronic sources, and several other helpful resources. According to the findings of this research, “Little Red Riding Hood” folklore contains thirteen types of lexical cohesion, which include six repetitions and seven synonyms. Therefore, the average between repetition and synonym is almost equal. Keywords: Discourse Analysis, Lexical Cohesion, Repetition, Synonym

This present study explored the motivation levels and motivation types of Cambodian high school students learning English. With a focus on Hun Sen Peam Ro high school in Prey Veng province, the data was gathered using a quantitative approach. The study's objectives were to determine to what extent the students were motivated to learn English, to determine whether their motivation was more intrinsic or extrinsic, and to determine whether there was a statistically significant difference between the motivation levels of male and female students. 265 students attended the study. As a result, it was indicated that the students were highly motivated to learn English, and they were more extrinsically motivated than intrinsically. It was also noted that female students had a statistically higher extrinsic motivation than male students did. The current study suggests that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation must be interrelated because overall motivation is essential for students’ success in learning English. Finally, future studies should be conducted with larger sample size and at other educational institutions across the country using other statistical analyses. Qualitative and mixed-methods designs are also recommended. Keywords: Cambodia, High School Students, MoEYS, Motivation, Male and Female Students

The Covid-19 virus epidemic has forced the entire learning structure in educational institutions to be shifted to online learning methods, presenting new challenges to Indonesia's education system. Students experience several changes as a result of the stopping of the learning process directly which has an impact on their motivation to learn. One of the most critical criteria for a good learning process is desire to learn English. One of the variables that has a huge effect on students' enthusiasm for learning is their motivation to learn English. As (Makki & Abid, 2017) said that Intrinsic (internal) motivation and Extrinsic (external) motivation are two terms that can be used to describe motivation. The first motivation is from themselves (intrinsic) and the second is motivation from outside (ekstrinsic), such as people outside the student (teachers, friends, family) or the situation and conditions of the student's environment. Self-motivation or intrinsic motivation is very influential in their learning process. Students who are highly motivated and have a great desire to learn will excel in achieving their learning objectives. This research used a qualitative approach using an instrument questionnaire with junior high school students at SMP Advent Naripan Bandung. The researcher gave two groups of important questions about student motivation in this research, namely intrinsic factors and extrinsic factors by using google form to find out which factor is more dominant. From the research results, it is known that student learning motivation is more dominant from within themselves (intrinsic motivation) has a greater role in their learning process because they are aware of their responsibilities and obligations as students, especially in learning English, although extrinsic factors also have a role influence on their students' motivation. Addressing this, CEFR was established and made the CEFR level vocabulary which are A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. This article aims to know what vocabulary level is used in the very first of Genshin Impact’s trailer which has 16 million views, hence it will reveal what sort of CEFR vocabulary level needs to fully understand the context given in the trailer. Descriptive research was used and using the EVP (English Vocabulary Profile) as a tool to identify the vocabulary levels. The authors first convert words from spoken form to written form and then analyze them with EVP. A total of 449 of 492 words was found with all levels of CEFR vocabulary levels. This study aims to explore students' perceptions of language learning through online games. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach to complement this research. The participants involved in this study were fourth-year college students of English language education at a university in Karawang. A structured interview was used as an instrument used in this study to answer the researcher's questions. The results shows that participants have a good and positive perception. This shows that they feel motivated, interested, enthusiastic, and fond of learning English through Genshin Impact because it is fun and it doesn't feel like learning. Besides, it is also easy to access and more interesting than learning to listen formally. There are several reasons why they can develop their English through Genshin Impact, namely: 1) it makes them know what and when to speak in a certain context 2) it has good audio with good pronunciation, making it easier to understand in improving listening skills 3) it helps them in learning new vocabulary because there are some new words that are not in everyday life. Pre-service English teachers' identity construction as a teacher is complicated and influenced by several factors. The current study intends to investigate how Indonesian pre-service English teachers construct their teacher identities when performing the teaching practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study employed a narrative inquiry to investigate pre-service teachers' experiences and how they interpreted those experiences. To collect data from the participants, the authors used semi-structured interviews and their narrative frames.. Additionally, this study used documentation, such as lesson plans and teaching practicum reports to enrich and reinforce the data. Finally, the result of the collected data was analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings showed that pre-service English teachers encountered several constraints when completing a teaching practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic that could have limited how they constructed their teacher identities. Constrained factors include government rules that enforced teaching-learning activities during the pandemic and unsupportive school mentors. However, some participants also have supportive school mentors who guide them as they learn how to teach. This research demonstrates the crucial role that school mentors play in constructing pre-service teachers' identities. Furthermore, pre-service teachers overcame the difficulties of their teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic by using their creativity and resilience.
