Abstract

This study aims to examine the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who obtain a Scientific Approach compared to those who obtain ordinary learning. The method used in this research is the experimental method. The research subject in this study were students of SMPN 9 Cimahi, who were randomly selected from two classes out of all 8 grades. Then two classes were randomly assigned to become the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class gets learning with a Scientific Approach and the control class gets regular learning. The instrument used is a test of mathematical critical thinking skills. From the results of the data analysis it was concluded that an increase in the ability to think critically mathematically of students who received a Scientific Approach was better than those who received regular learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how the conceptual thinking process of seventh-grade junior high school students in solving social arithmetic problems when viewed from mathematical anxiety differences. The type of research was qualitative descriptive which used purposive sampling. There were 34 students of seventh-grade junior high school in West Karawang as the subject of this study. The data was collected through questionnaires about mathematical anxiety, written tests of conceptual thinking processes, interviews, and documentation. The data was analyzed by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicated that The result of this study showed that the majority of grade VII SMP students' mathematical anxiety tended to be moderate. The results of the analysis concluded that students with low mathematical anxiety had good conceptual thinking skills because they were able to fulfill all indicators. However, students with moderate mathematical anxiety had fairly good conceptual thinking skills because there was only one indicator that was not fulfilled, namely correcting answers. Furthermore, students with high mathematical anxiety had poor conceptual thinking skills since they were only able to fulfill two indicators, namely writing down the information they knew and recounting the steps they took.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a difference in the average increase in student learning outcomes at the elementary level using Geogebra-assisted project-based learning (PjBL) compared to the Conventional learning model. This research is a pseudo-experimental research with a quantitative approach. The model used is the nonequivalent control group model. The population of this study were all students of Class V MI I'anatut Thalibin and Class V SDN Cangkuang 08. In this study using purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were tests consisting of pre-test and post-test. N-Gain was used to determine the increase in student scores before and after the test. The results of the Independent t test show that there is a difference in the improvement of learning outcomes between students who learn using the Geogebra-assisted PjBL model and students who learn using the conventional model. Furthermore, based on the average N-Gain, the PjBL-assisted Geogebra class is greater than the conventional class. The results of the N-Gain calculation show that the application of the Geogebra-assisted PjBL learning model can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research illustrates that mathematical communication skills are considered the most needed abilities currently supported by other mathematical abilities, one of which is mathematical spatial abilities. This research aims to characterize the communication and mathematical visualization abilities of students at Nurul Islam Middle School, Sungai Kakap, Kubu Raya. Mixed methods, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques, were used in this research. Data was collected through interviews with 23 class VIII A students and analysis of their tests. The results show that the majority of students have moderate to low mathematical and spatial communication skills. Students' effective ability to convey understanding of mathematical concepts and mathematical spatial competence in flat shapes is among the lowest. This research reveals a relationship between strong mathematical communication skills and high spatial abilities, and vice versa.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the number of students who experience errors in solving social arithmetic problems. The subjects in this study were 21 students of class VIII F SMP Negeri 9 Cimahi. The method used is descriptive qualitative which aims to describe student errors in social arithmetic material using the Kastolan stage. The data analysis technique used in this study used an average percentage. While the purpose of this study is to find out and analyze student errors in working on social arithmetic problems. The results of this study indicate that students still experience conceptual errors with an average percentage of 24% with low criteria. Meanwhile, procedural errors have sufficient criteria with an average percentage of 45%. Then technical errors also have sufficient criteria with an average percentage of 54%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to describe the development process and result of algebra-based learning media by articulate storyline with help quizwhizzer website of valid, practical, and effective to support the student’s concept of understanding in algebra. This research model is ADDIE type, which has five steps, they are : analyse, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Algebra-based learning media by articulate storyline with help quizwhizzer websitewas tested by two examinations, which are limited examination and direct examination to studenst of MTs Al-Mahrusiyah Lirboyo Kediri. The research tools used were validated papers, student’s and teacher’s assessment response, and the sheets of concept understanding. Algebra-based learning media by articulate storyline with hrlp quizwhizzer website has reached the validity percentage of 79,6%. The practical result showed the number 83%, previewed from studen’s assessment response. Therefore, it is valid to state that it has fulfilled the practical criteria. The effectiveness result showed 72% previewed from the result of student’s concept of understanding test. In addition to that, it has fulfilled the criteria effectively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplor kemampuan berpikir komputasi siswa SMP melalui pemberian soal Bebras Task. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan subjek penelitian yaitu 26 siswa SMP Al Huda Turalak kelas VIII. Data diambil menggunakan instrumen tes Bebras Task, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir komputasi siswa secara umum baru mencapai 43%, dengan kemampuan pada setiap indikator yaitu decomposition sebesar 53%, pattern recognition sebesar 62%, abstraction sebesar 23%, dan algorithm sebesar 36%. Sehingga disarankan agar guru perlu melakukan upaya khusus untuk lebih mengoptimalkan kemampuan abstraction dan algorithm.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the pedagogical aspects influencing student’s self-regulated learning in mathematics education. The method applied in this study is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research subjects consist of 25 seventh-grade students in a junior high school in Bandung. Data collection was conducted through observation of the mathematics learning process, distribution of a questionnaire on self-regulated learning in mathematics, and interview with both teachers and students. Data analysis was performed by calculating the percentage of student responses from the questionnaire and analyzing the pedagogical aspects of mathematics education. The result of the study show that the average self-regulated learning in mathematics is 69.92%, indicating a moderate category. The lowest indicator of self-regulated learning in mathematics is the ability to establish and choose learning strategies. Based on the analysis of pedagogical aspect in mathematics education regarding students’ self-regulated learning, it is related to the teacher’s ability to use teaching methods and technology. This is associated with pedagogical instructional knowledge (PIK) and pedagogical curricular knowledge (PCrK). Therefore, teaching methods and technology are esencial factors in enhancing self-regulated learning in mathematics.

Abstract

The study was undermined by student’s numeracy literacy skills which were still low with an average score of 27. Students were not accustomed to do numeracy literacy questions because there was no valid collection of numeracy literacy questions. So, this research aims to provide and evaluate the viability, usefulness, and efficacy of numeracy literacy questions based on quizizz by applying Tebing Tinggi’s sociocultural context. The ADDIE development model comprising the phases of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation was employed in this study. The subjects of this research were class VIII student at SMP Ir. H. Djuanda Tebing Tinggi. Based on the findings of research and development, it is possible to see that the product of numeracy literacy questions on quizizz which was developed using comparative material that is feasible and practical but is not effectively used by student at SMP Ir. H. Djuanda Tebing Tinggi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to review the improvement of students' mathematical problem solving skills in the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) from several articles in previous studies comprehensively and in depth in various schools, materials, or classes. This research method uses meta-analysis which consists of five stages, namely the definition of the research problem, data collection, coding process, statistical analysis, and presentation of results.. Based on the results of the study, it is obtained that the effect size value is included in the three categories of medium, large, and very large which means that the increase in mathematical problem solving ability on the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the results of the calculation of the two means test can be found that then  is rejected which means that the average experimental group is better than the control group. Thus, there is an increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability in the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL).
