Abstract

Creative thinking is a process of thinking that produces a wide variety of possible ideas and ways. The creative thinking indicator used consists of fluency, flexibility, originality, dan elabolasi. In addition to creative thinking beliefs about oneself determine how people think, feel, and motivate themselves in acting. This study aims to analyze the ability of creative thinking and self confidence of students on the material of cubes and beams. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. Subjects in this study were students of class IX in junior Darul Falah as many as 29 people. Based on the data analysis, it is concluded that the students' mathematical creative thinking ability is still low and there are still students who are less confident in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of mathematical creative thinking of students in one of the Vocational Schools in Cimahi City with indicators of students' mathematical creative thinking skills used are fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration. The ability to think creatively mathematically is the ability to learn mathematics in finding new ideas or ideas that are different from the way, in their own language. This research was conducted on 29 students in one of the Vocational Schools in Cimahi City using qualitative descriptive methods. The instruments used were in the form of 4 items of description with mathematical creative thinking skills in space geometry. After getting the results or data, then the data is presented in the form of a percentage. And it can be concluded from this study that the ability of mathematical creative thinking of SMK students in Cimahi City is still very low because only one indicator whose percentage exceeds 50% is an indicator of fluency. The results of this study can increase knowledge about mathematical creative thinking of students in one of the Vocational Schools in Cimahi City and is useful to facilitate education practitioners in developing mathematical creative thinking skills

Abstract

This study aims to examine the achievement of mathematical reasoning ability and self confidence of MTs students using guided inquiry method compared with using ordinary learning. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with a pretest and postes experimental-control group design. The population in this study is all MTs students in West Bandung regency, while the sample of the research is as much as two classes are selected to be experimental class and control class. The experimental class gained learning by guided inquiry method and the control class gained regular learning. The instrument used is a matter of reasoning ability test and non test self confidence matter. Data of research result are tested and analyzed quantitatively by using statistical test (t test). The conclusions obtained are as follows: 1) students' mathematical reasoning ability that obtains learning with guided inquiry method is better than students who gain ordinary learning; 2) the ability of self confidence students who gain learning with guided inquiry method is better than students who get regular learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine student learning outcomes using the type of snowball throwing learning towards student learning outcomes in mathematics subjects at MTs Islam Al-Maziyyah cianjur. The use of the method in this study is quasi-experimental with pretest and posttest equivalent to the control group design. Students of class VII Islamic MTs Al-Maziyyah cianjur which amounted to 3 classes were used as the population for this study while the research sample was class VII A as an experimental class that was treated with snowball throwing learning and VII C as a control class received normal learning treatment. The research instrument was in the form of student training experiments. The results showed that the influence of the relevant use of the type of snowball throwing learning was influenced on student learning outcomes from those using the usual approach.

Abstract

This research aims to examine how the correlation of self-confidence to the ability of mathematical reasoning of Junior High School student. The type of research used is correlational research. The subject of research is the students of class IX SMP Negeri 2 Ngamprah. Data collection techniques in this research is a test of mathematical reasoning ability in the form of description and self-confidence questionnaire. The results of the indicate a significant relationship between self-confidence and mathematical reasoning ability of junior high school students.

Abstract

This research aims to know the influence of student’s self-confidence against the ability of mathematical creative thinking of students. Methods used correlational with quantitative approach. Samples taken is as much as 30 students are subjected to an SMP in the city of Cimahi. The instruments used in this research consists of a test and non-test. The results of this research are the self-confidence of students have a positive effect on the ability of mathematical creative thinking of the students of 10.9% and 89.1% influenced by factors other than the self-confidence.

Abstract

The descriptive research aims to diagnose the difficulties of secondary school students in understanding Cube and Rectangular Prism. Geometry test and interview are used as the instrument. The subjects are 3 seventh grade students who respectively represent high, medium and low ability in mathematics. This research finds that the students have difficulties in understanding the properties of a cube and rectangular prism, inventing the surface area, and using the formula to determine the surface area. The difficulty in using the formula to solve related problems is an effect of memorizing ready-made formula without understanding so the students are easy to forget it. The alternative ways to cope with the difficulties are: (a) Using computer application (PowerPoint, Ms. Word with SmartArt Graphic) and other current software like Cabri Geometry, The Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP), Geometry Expert, Logo, Geogebra, and Wingeom; (b) Activating students’ prior knowledge about plane which explains the side of the solid figures; (c) Implementing guided discovery learning with students’ worksheet; and (d) giving variation exercises involving contextual or non-contextual problems.

Abstract

Basically every student must master mathematics taught in school because mathematics is a branch of science from various sciences but in fact many students think that mathematics is a complicated lesson that makes them feel dizzy to learn it. In the end their hearts and minds were not open to understanding mathematics when it was explained by the teacher in school so that they had a lot of problems to solve the problem and resulted in incorrect filling in the questions given. The purpose of this study is none other than to analyze students' errors in mathematical communication skills in completing flat-build material. The subjects used were students from one of the high schools in Cihampelas. This research method is qualitative descriptive and the instrument used consists of a mathematical communication ability test. Based on the results of the research, the location of the causes of errors made by students is a concept, procedure and computational error. Factors that cause errors because they do not understand simple concepts, do not know the purpose of the problem, cannot complete mathematical sentences and are not careful in calculating.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of solving mathematical problems of junior high school students in Kabupatan West Bandung with indicators of students' mathematical problem solving abilities that are used to identify known elements, questioned and adequacy of elements, selecting and implementing strategies to solve mathematical problems, interpret the results according to the initial problem , making a mathematical model of a situation or everyday problem, using mathematics meaningfully. This research was conducted to 31 students in one of Junior High School in Ngamprah Village, West Bandung Regency using qualitative descriptive method. Instruments used in the form of 5 items about students' mathematical problem solving abilities on the material quadrilateral and triangle with interviews to students. The conclusion of this research is the ability of mathematical problem solving of junior high school students in Ngamprah Village is still low.

Abstract

Kemampuan matematis adalah kemampuan untuk menghadapi permasalahan, baik dalam matematika maupun kehidupan nyata. Kemampuan matematis terdiri dari Penalaran matematis, komunikasi matematis, pemecahan masalah, pemahaman konsep, pemahaman matematis, berpikir kreatif dan berpikir kritis. Dalam aspek pemecahan masalah matematika diperlukan pemikiran-pemikiran kreatif dalam merumuskan dan menyelesaikan model atau perencanaan pemecahan masalah. Salah satu materi yang dapat mendorong siswa untuk berpikir kreatif yaitu SPLDV, siswa dituntut untuk menuangkan ide-ide kreatifnya, karena penyelesaian soal SPLDV banyak cara metode yang dapat  digunakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis terhadap siswa MTs Kelas VIII melalui tugas Problem Posing pada materi SPLDV. Sedangkan yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 6 orang siswa yang terdiri dari 2 orang siswa berkemampuan tinggi, 2 orang siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan 2 orang berkemampuan rendah. Segala sesuatu yang akan diukur diantaranya tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis yang berdasarkan indikator-indikatornya sebanyak 5 soal berbentuk essay. Berdasarkan hasil analisa data diperoleh pola Persentase penyelesaian masalah seluruh subjek penelitian tiap indikator kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematik yaitu : (1) kelancaran (Fluency) 64,63% ; (2) Kelenturan (Flexibility) 44,20% ; (3) Keaslian/ orisinalitas (Originality) 48,58% ; (4) Elaborasi (Elaboration) 62,50%.
