Abstract

The rapid shift to online learning following the COVID-19 pandemic has transformed instructional practices in higher education, including the teaching of linguistics courses such as morphology. Morphology, as a core component of linguistic competence, plays a crucial role in vocabulary development, word recognition, and language comprehension for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. This article aims to explore the opportunities and challenges of teaching English morphology through online learning environments. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this study is based on a critical review of relevant literature, reflective teaching experiences, and observation of online instructional practices in English education programs. The discussion highlights how digital platforms, multimedia resources, and visual learning tools provide significant opportunities to enhance students’ morphological awareness and engagement. Online instruction allows for the use of videos, animations, and interactive materials that support students’ understanding of word formation processes such as affixation, compounding, borrowing, and coinage. However, the study also identifies several challenges, including limited internet access, technical difficulties, reduced interaction, and students’ varying levels of digital literacy. Despite these constraints, effective instructional design and creative use of digital media can mitigate many of these obstacles. The article concludes that teaching morphology online is not merely an alternative mode of instruction but a viable and innovative approach that can enrich language learning when supported by appropriate pedagogical strategies.

Abstract

The abstraction of algebraic concepts presents a significant barrier to students' mathematical problem-solving proficiency. While Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) offers a pedagogical bridge by grounding mathematics in reality, its integration with digital media remains underexplored. This study aims to develop and critically analyze the mechanism of action of an Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) based on RME to optimize algebraic problem-solving skills. Utilizing the Research and Development (RD) methodology with the ADDIE framework, the study involved expert validation, practicality testing, and effectiveness assessment. Data analysis reveals a pedagogical alignment: the product achieved high validity scores (Material 87.5%, Media 80%, Language 86.67%) and practicality (88.17%). Crucially, the mechanism of action identified demonstrates that the E-LKPD's digital affordances successfully scaffold the mathematization process, transforming abstract symbols into tangible problem-solving tools. Consequently, student mastery increased significantly from an initial average of 26.92% to a post-intervention average of 91.15%, with 84.37% of students achieving classical mastery. This study confirms that the synergy between RME context and digital interactivity is a potent catalyst for mathematical understanding.

Abstract

Penelitian deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan kelas sosial tokoh cerita dalam novel Segala yang Diisap Langit karya Pinto Anugrah. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Segala yang Diisap Langit. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah perbedaan kelas sosial tokoh cerita. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode dokumentasi, untuk mengetahui data perbedaan kelas sosial tokoh cerita Data yang sudah terkumpul diolah secara induktif melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, serta penarikan simpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut dikaji dari perbedaan kelas sosial tokoh cerita yang terdapat dalam novel Segala yang Diisap Langit meliputi: kehidupan sosial yang terkait dengan status sosial menjadi tolak ukur keberadaan seseorang diberlakukan dalam masyarakat, status politik, dan status ekonomi yang terkait yakni dengan kelas sangat kaya. Setelah dilakukan analisis dalam novel Segala yang Diisap Langit terdapat perbedaan kelas sosial.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi jauhnya perbedaan tingkat kemampuan membaca pemahaman antarsiswa di dalam proses belajar. Masalah motivasi dan kebosanan dalam mengikuti proses belajar mengajar juga dialami oleh peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan membaca pemahaman peserta didik melalui penerapan strategi inkuiri. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif. Data penelitian diperoleh dari hasil tes unjuk kerja yang diberikan kepada 31 orang siswa. Analisis data dilakukan dengan statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa strategi inkuiri sangat berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar membaca pemahaman. Penelitian menunjukkan adanya iklim yang responsif dalam proses tanya jawab antara guru dengan siswa. Di samping itu, strategi ini meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dengan baik. Namun, kelemahan strategi ini membutuhkan alokasi waktu yang cukup panjang di dalam proses pembelajran. Kelemahan lainnya yang ditemukan dalam penelitian adalah ada beberapa aktivitas belajar yang sulit dikontrol sehingga tidak memperlihatkan keberhasilan peserta didik secara signifikan pada individu peserta didik

Abstract

This research analyzes the students’ difficulties in learning English. It uses descriptive qualitative research. The sample of this research was the students of class X SMA Muhammadiyah Padang Panjang. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire. The results of this study show the difficulties in learning English. From the data obtained, the difficulties experienced by students when learning English were lack of self- confidence, low concentration, and low memory. Students who have low confidence in learning English find it difficult to understand when the teacher speaks English

Abstract

This research has several purposes. The first was to find out the student errors in writing Procedure text at second year students of SMAN 2 Sungai Limau The research was conducted at This research was conducted at  SMK CENDANA Padangpanjang, in Jl. H.Agus no.1, Guguk Malintang, Sumatera Barat,which involved 12 students of the 2 nd grade. This study collected data through writing testto generate qualitative information. The data was analyzed using percentages andfrequencies to obtain data results. The results showed that the students made errors in several types based onSurface Strategy Taxonomy: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering withtotal errors were 39 errors. omission is the most prevalent error, comprising 61.53% or 24errors of the total errors, indicating frequent neglect of important elements. Additionerrors follow at 28.20% or 11 errors, where irrelevant or unnecessary information disruptsthe clarity of instructions. Misformation errors account for 7.69% or 3 errors, affectingthe accuracy and comprehension of the text due to incorrect word usage. Misorderingerrors constitute only 2.05% or 1 error, but they can still impact the effectiveness of theprocedure if steps are not correctly sequenced. Questionaires suggested that

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ ability and difficulties in writing recount texts at SMP Qu Cahaya Al-Qur’an Padang Panjang. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method involving 11 second-grade students as participants. Data were collected through a recount text writing test and a questionnaire to identify students’ writing difficulties. The assessment focused on two main aspects: generic structure and language features. The findings revealed that students’ overall ability in writing recount texts was categorized as fair. Most students experienced difficulties in organizing ideas, applying correct grammatical structures, and using appropriate vocabulary. Questionnaire results supported these findings, showing that students struggled particularly with language features and grammar usage. These difficulties indicate the need for more focused instructional strategies in teaching recount text writing. The study recommends that teachers provide more guided practice and emphasize the application of generic structure and language features to improve students’ writing skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena berbagai permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan memahami penggunaan kohesi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri I Tilatang Kamang sebagai berikut: 1) siswa kurang mendapatkan motivasi dari guru.2) siswa  kurang menyukai kegiatan memahami wacana. 3) ketersediaan buku atau bahan bacaan belum memadai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan memahami penggunaan kohesi dalam wacana persuasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri I Tilatang Kamang. Pada penelitian ini hanya menilai kohesi gramatikal (referensi dan konjungsi) dan kohesi leksikal (hiponim). Jenis penelitian digunakan kuantitatif. Metode  yang digunakan deskriptif. Populasi yang digunakan seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri I Tilatang Kamang Sampel yang digunakan total sampling ( 30 orang). Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan memberikan tes. Setiap siswa diberikan wacana persuasi, kemudian ditugasi untuk menentukan pemahamannya tentang ketepatan penggunaaan kohesi gramatikal (referensi, konjungsi) dan kohesi leksikal (hiponim) yang terdapat di wacana tersebut. Hasil analisis data menjelaskan bahwa kohesi secara umum menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kemampuan  memahami penggunaan kohesi gramatikal dalam wacana persuasi 41,13 dengan kualifikasi kurang. Nilai rata-rata kemampuan memahami penggunaan kohesi leksikal dalam wacana persuasi 52,5 dengan kualifikasi  hampir cukup. Secara umum, kemampuan  memahami penggunaan kohesi dalam wacana  persuasi  46,82 dengan kualifikasi hampir cukup.
