Abstract

Parents play an important role in the process of children’s development, including in the educational process. The pandemic situation that makes children carry out the learning process from home has made the role of parents even more significant. The lack of skills in accompanying the online learning process makes it difficult for parents to show a supportive parenting attitude for the child. Training on effective learning methods and supportive care for children has proven to be able to significantly improve the skills of parents in accompanying the online learning process. The training was delivered in several sessions ranging from initial assessment, providing training in the form of lectures and role play, posttests, to follow-up in the form of focused group discussions with teachers. Through the training, parents' understanding of effective learning methods increased significantly, reaching 62% of participants. This training has also been shown to be able to significantly improve parents' understanding in implementing supportive parenting. Furthermore, schools can also develop varied learning methods such as project-based learning during a pandemic to make it easier for students to understand the material while increasing interaction between parents and children.

Abstract

Speaking is a form of communication that appears in the stages of human development and needs to be trained from an early age. Not infrequently in this process children experience problems, namely speech delays even though children have been trained a lot and live in a supportive environment. The problem of speech delay makes parents tend to be anxious, confused, and panicked, especially if they do not have adequate information or knowledge related to the problem of speech delay and how to prevent and overcome it. One place that can help parents in overcoming the problem of speech delays is the nearest PAUD-KB, where parents hope that teachers can help overcome children's speech delay problems. However, teachers also often experience limited information and knowledge about how to deal with speech delays as well so that their efforts and assistance are not optimal. The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Psychology is here to help provide psychoeducation related to the introduction, prevention, and handling of children's speech delays through training and assignments on children's speech stimulation with the "Kartong Mejik" program. The results of the implementation of community service show that parents and teachers understand more and hope that with information through community service, parents and teachers can reduce their confusion when facing problems with speech delays in children.

Abstract

The result of author observations, the most of the teacher's activities at SMP 2 Cangkringan are more oriented towards the mission of education and teaching in the classroom. Meanwhile, scientific vision and mission in the form of scientific writing and publication are often neglected. The implications of this fact, the writing and publication of scientific papers among teachers is still a cause for concern. The solution offered is to provide training in writing scientific papers for Cangkringan 2 Middle School teachers. The output target of this dedication is in the form of training services in the form of information related to writing scientific papers and publishing scientific articles. Through the community service activities that have been carried out, three things have been improved, namely deepening teacher knowledge about scientific writing, introducing and promoting the activity of writing scientific articles in journals to increase professional competence and motivating teachers to start publishing scientific papers in the form of scientific articles in journals. The method used is the method of lectures, discussions, and questions and answers. The result of implementing this community service activity is to provide an understanding of scientific writing, the reasons why teachers have to make scientific papers, the concept of scientific writing, and the process of writing scientific papers. Furthermore, the teachers received material on how to publish scientific papers and their stages.

Abstract

Pediculosis capitis is an infestation of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) with symptoms of itching on the head. Although it is not fatal, pediculosis capitis can interfere with daily activities, especially disrupting children's concentration and disrupting sleep quality. Head lice often affect school-aged children and people who have poor personal hygiene. An orphanage is a place where a group of children live together and is a place that is at risk of parasitic infections. This activity aims to carry out examinations for head lice to determine the incidence of pediculosis capitis, provide treatment to infested children and provide health education such as counseling and training to prevent in the context of eradicating pediculosis capitis in orphanages. This community service activity occurred at the Baiturrahmah Orphanage, Rimbo Panjang Village, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The target audience is an orphanage, totaling 31 people, consisting of 14 (45.2%) girsl and 17 (54.8%) boys. At this activity, it was found that all the girls were infested with head lice and no boys were infected with Pediculus humanus capitis. Infected children are treated with 1% permethrin. In this activity, education was also provided to orphanage children and administrators about Pediculosis capitis including causes, clinical symptoms, treatment, prevention and eradication of infection. Each child is also given a serit comb, one child one serit comb. It is hoped that the treatment and education that has been provided can cure these diseases and improve the level of public health.

Abstract

In the neighborhood of Permata Cimanggis Housing, household waste has become a troublesome problem due to the unavailability of land for waste disposal. The increasing volume of waste has led to efforts to reduce final waste through waste bank activities. This activity succeeded in reducing the final waste by 20 to 40%. However, another issue emerged at the household level, as there was insufficient space to temporarily store the waste before depositing it in the waste bank. This lack of space has reduced the number of waste bank customers, especially during the pandemic, because the presence of waste is considered a nuisance to the residents of the house who are at home every day. As a result, the amount of final waste has increased again. This has made it difficult for the RT/RW to manage the waste. Efforts need to be made to reduce waste and encourage people to become active waste bank customers. Using an action research approach, the author and team tried to solve the problem. In the first cycle, observations and interviews were conducted with several waste bank customers. From the observations and interviews, the idea to create a simple station to collect waste at the household level was initiated. The second step was to present the idea in a discussion forum with the community. From the discussion process with the waste bank manager, several waste bank members, and ‘RW’ administrators, a new system in the waste bank was finally agreed upon, namely the self-deposit system. In this system, ‘RW’ provides a place to store the waste. The manager provides equipment that allows customers to deposit waste independently without having to wait for the waste bank to open. In this way, it is hoped that the stored waste will not be piled up at home, thus the problem of limited area at home is solved.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer in Indonesia. One of the factors affecting the high incidence of cervical cancer in Indonesia is the low coverage of screening and early detection, such as Pap smear. The low coverage is caused by various factors, including health system and lack of public awareness. Therefore, this community service focus on cervical cancer counseling and Pap smear examination. The purpose of this activity are to increase public awareness of cervical cancer and the coverage of cervical cancer screening in community. The activity was carried out in Kedaton, Pleret, Bantul with 26 participants. As many as 57.69% of the participants  were first-time Pap smear takers. Pap smear diagnostic results showed that all participant did not have cervical epithelial abnormalities leading to malignant lesion (Negative for Intraepithelial Malignancy) but there were participant with epithelial reactive changes due to inflammation (23.08%), actinomycosis (15,38%), bacterial vaginosis (11.54%) and IUD-related reactive changes (3.8%). The majority of patients with reactive changes and infection of the cervix had no complaints, indicating a lack of understanding the sign of  abnormal vaginal discharge. This community service is effective to prevent cervical cancer and increase knowledge about gynecological and reproductive health. However it still requires the cooperation of many parties to expand Pap smear coverage and implementation of periodic examination.

Abstract

This research aims to create a poultry feed formulation that complies with SNI 01-3931-2006 standards regarding broiler poultry feed, where the process of making poultry feed includes four main ingredients, namely fish meal, corn, rice bran and vitamins. In this research there are two main processes, namely the process of making fish meal and the process of making poultry feed. Fish meal is a raw material for making poultry feed because it has high protein content. Fish meal in the process of making poultry feed is obtained from processing fish caught at sea by fishermen. This research activity was carried out in Sentang Village, Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Berdagai Regency. This location was chosen because it is near the sea and has abundant natural resource potential for marine products. The resulting poultry feed is then analyzed including water content, protein, oil content, ash content, crude fiber, calcium and protein. Poultry feed analysis was carried out in the Palm Oil Research Center (PPKS) laboratory. The analysis results showed water content 30.90%, protein 11.70%, oil content 3.17%, ash content 5.16%, crude fiber 17.32%, calcium 182.41 ppm and phosphorus <0.01 ppm.

Abstract

A Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB) is essential for business owners, especially those who are developing their businesses because NIB can preserve the legality and integrity of a product. However, many business owners need to realize the importance of having an NIB. In this regard, the author was motivated to assist student-owned MSMEs, a program by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Airlangga University, to obtain a NIB. Business owners can register on the online system through the Online Single Submission (OSS) website to obtain an NIB. In this research, we will discuss how to obtain an NIB through the online system and the benefits of helping several students who owned businesses aided by the Faculty of Economics and Business, Airlangga University, to obtain a NIB. The study results show that the OSS web application provides valuable information. Business owners can apply for an NIB without changing their business permits or operations by activating an OSS account, filling out company data in the OSS system, completing the information on previously owned licenses, after which the OSS system will issue an NIB for the business owners.

Abstract

Banyuwangi Regency, a major dragon fruit producer in Indonesia, has a cultivation area of 3,786 hectares and an annual production of 82,544 tons in 2020, up from 19,068 tons in 2019. Despite the use of Ultraviolet (UV) light technology increasing productivity to 2,350 tons per hectare in Sarongan village, there has been a drastic 60% drop in production over the past two years. This decline is accompanied by plant health issues and high costs for pesticides and chemical fertilizers, highlighting the need for more efficient solutions. The use of biological agents, relying on natural enemies to control pests and diseases, offers a sustainable solution. Microbes and fungi can reduce reliance on chemical pesticides and improve plant health. This study evaluates the application of biological agents through technical guidance, using potato broth for Beauveria bassiana and Trichoderma sp., and soybean broth for Azotobacter sp. and Pseudomonas fluorescens. Testing results show that Azotobacter sp. and Pseudomonas fluorescens have adequate populations and are effective in enhancing soil health and plant productivity. The use of nutrient-rich media such as potato broth improves the growth of Beauveria bassiana and Trichoderma sp. Field application of biological agents resulted in a 30% increase in harvest yield, reduced dependence on chemical pesticides, and lowered production costs. Practical recommendations include using optimal nutrient media, farmer training, and regular monitoring and evaluation to enhance effectiveness and sustainability. This technology is expected to support sustainable agriculture and significantly boost dragon fruit productivity.
