Abstract

This article aims to analyze academic and religious life through the lens of Karl Marx’s thought, particularly the concepts of historical materialism, alienation, and ideology. Using a qualitative reflective-hermeneutic approach, the author reflects on personal experiences as a postgraduate student, Islamic boarding school administrator, and teacher at a Qur’anic Education Center (TPQ). Historical materialism is employed to examine how economic structures influence life choices, work routines, and educational orientations. Meanwhile, alienation is identified in the disconnection between idealized spiritual values and the technical, repetitive nature of daily work. Ideology is analyzed as a symbolic mechanism that normalizes social inequalities in the form of academic meritocracy and the romanticization of religious service. The findings reveal that critical awareness of social and ideological structures is key to understanding both limitations and the potential for transformation in everyday life. This article further emphasizes the importance of praxis in the form of reflective-transformative action as a synthesis of consciousness and social change. Such an approach is highly relevant in the context of Islamic education, aligning with the value of muhasabah as an evaluative effort toward a more conscious and liberating orientation of life and action.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze strategies for internalizing anti-corruption values among students as an effort to build an anti-corruption culture within the education system. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods, drawing data from relevant scientific literature such as books, journals, and academic articles. The findings indicate that the internalization of anti-corruption values can be implemented through the integration of anti-corruption education into the school curriculum, the application of Problem-Based Learning (PBL), the development of thematic teaching modules, and the habituation of integrity and honesty values in daily school activities. Furthermore, anti-corruption education plays a vital role in fostering legal awareness and shaping students’ character to become honest, responsible, and integrity-driven individuals. Supporting factors such as a strong legal system, transparency, civil society participation, and an ethical organizational culture enhance the effectiveness of this internalization process. Therefore, anti-corruption education is a strategic step toward building a young generation with integrity, strong moral character, and commitment to eradicating corruption in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the concept of student discipline from the perspective of hadith as a foundation for character formation and the improvement of Islamic education quality. Using a library research method, this study analyzes both the matan and sanad  of hadiths related to values of discipline in learning, worship, and interaction with teachers and the educational environment. The findings indicate that Islam views discipline as an integral part of moral and spiritual teachings, reflected in the encouragement to use time wisely, seek knowledge earnestly, and maintain proper manners and responsibility in the learning process. Discipline in this context is not limited to academic compliance but encompasses the broader dimension of moral consciousness, self-control, and devotion to Allah. The application of discipline values derived from hadith helps develop students who are not only intellectually competent but also spiritually grounded and socially responsible. Therefore, student discipline represents the internalization of Islamic ethical principles that guide individuals toward balanced, productive, and meaningful lives in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.

Abstract

The phenomena of radicalism and extremism in the name of religion have become serious challenges to social life, education, and religiosity in Indonesia. Narrow, exclusive, and intolerant religious understandings often develop within both formal and informal educational spaces, and are further exacerbated by the influence of digital media. This study aims to critically examine the meaning, characteristics, and causal factors of radicalism and extremism, while offering religious moderation as an alternative approach to address these challenges. Using a qualitative library research method, the data were analyzed descriptively and critically through relevant academic literature. The findings indicate that radicalism and extremism stem from various factors such as socio-political injustice, religious emotions, cultural clashes, anti-Western sentiments, and weak governmental policies. Religious moderation, which emphasizes wasatiyyah (balance), tolerance, and openness, is viewed as a strategic solution for shaping an inclusive and peaceful religious paradigm. Religious education that instills the values of moderation from an early age is crucial to preventing the growth of intolerant ideologies and strengthening the ideological resilience of society in facing the currents of global radicalism.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the legality of land use conversion along the Krueng Aceh Flood Canal for the construction of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) Building and the Flats for Civil Servants of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), from the perspective of positive law and the Islamic law concept of milk al-daulah. This research adopts an empirical juridical approach with a qualitative method. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the Sumatra I River Basin Authority and the Aceh Besar Public Works and Housing Office, while secondary data were collected from regulatory documents, site maps, and scholarly literature. The findings indicate that both projects comply with legal and administrative requirements, supported by the 2014 Minister of Finance approval, the 2019 Building Permit (IMB), and the 2024 Building Approval (PBG). Field verification confirmed the sites are outside the river border. However, regulatory differences exist between Qanun Aceh Besar No. 4/2013 and PUPR Regulation No. 28/2015. The latter applies in practice due to the canal’s technical nature. In Islamic law, the land is classified as milk al-daulah, making its use lawful for public benefit.

Abstract

This paper analyzes Muhyīddīn Ibn ‘Arabī’s (1165-1240) seminal work Mishkāt al-Anwār fī mā Ruwiya ‘an Allāh min al-Akhbār (101 Divine Sayings), which compiles profound sacred hadiths (hadith qudsī) transmitted from God through the Prophet Muhammad. It aims to examine its theological implications and mystical conceptions of God, which brought forth diverse religious themes underlying its arguments pertaining to the moral and religious values and symbols that constituted basic ritual and legal practice and its spiritual and mystical implications as highlighted by the Great Master Shaykh al-Akbar throughout this work. The study is based on qualitative method in the form of library and literature survey. It uses descriptive, analytical, philosophical and historical approaches to collectively process the data derived from primary and secondary sources that were further objectively and scientifically analyzed. The study concludes that Mishkāt al-Anwār presents significant ideas and understanding of sacred hadith (hadith qudsī) and its broad ethico-legal and mystical conception in light of the synthetic ideology it brought forth that synthesize dogmatic orthodoxy and liberal sufi tradition. It set forth profound metaphysical and eschatological principle and value as well as its spiritual aspect and dimension in light of prophetic guidance derived from revealed law and its sacred interpretation and viewpoint. It reflected unprecedented allegorical and mystical connotation of the Divine Sayings, in light of the Word of God that inspired the light of prophetic reality and its metaphysical manifestation.

Abstract

This study examines the optimization of mobile phones as an effective medium for Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMA 1 Baitussalam, Aceh, Indonesia, focusing on their benefits, challenges, and strategies to overcome obstacles in the digital era. Employing a descriptive qualitative method grounded in postpositivism, data were collected through triangulation techniques including observations, interviews, and documentation over two months. Participants included 3 PAI teachers, 12 eleventh-grade students, and the school principal. The findings reveal that mobile phones facilitate access to digital PAI textbooks, additional references like Qur'anic interpretations, Islamic educational apps (e.g., MyQuran, Google Classroom), discussion platforms, and educational videos on YouTube, promoting flexible and interactive learning aligned with the school's vision of faith, character, and global readiness. However, strict school regulations, including teacher supervision and sanctions, are implemented to prevent misuse, such as accessing social media or games. Key challenges include limited internet access and data quotas, distractions from notifications, and teachers' inadequate digital skills. To optimize mobile phones in PAI, recommendations include providing school internet facilities, teacher training in digital tools, and ethical guidelines for students. This research contributes practical insights for PAI educators, schools, and policymakers to integrate technology wisely, addressing gaps in PAI-specific digital education literature and supporting national educational goals amid globalization.

Abstract

This study examines the acculturation of Islamic values within Javanese birth ritual traditions, particularly the ceremonies of four-month pregnancy (telon-telon), seven-month pregnancy (piton-piton), placenta burial (mendhem ari-ari), brokohan, sepasaran, and selapasan. These traditions represent Javanese cultural heritage that has undergone a process of Islamization through the integration of Islamic teachings and religious values into their implementation. The study aims to describe the forms of birth rituals and to explain the Islamic values embedded within them. This research employed a qualitative approach using field research methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the community of Banuayu Village, Buay Madang District, East OKU Regency. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Javanese birth rituals have acculturated with Islamic teachings through the practices of collective prayer, tahlilan, recitation of Qur’anic verses, salawat, almsgiving, and expressions of gratitude to Allah SWT. These traditions function not only as cultural heritage but also as a medium for strengthening religious values, social solidarity, and the Islamic identity of the Javanese community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the activation of hearing and sight in Islamic learning models based on the perspective of Islamic education and various academic literature sources. In Islamic education, hearing (al-sam‘) and sight (al-abṣār) are regarded as fundamental human potentials that play an important role in acquiring knowledge, building character, and internalizing spiritual values. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were obtained through the exploration of journal articles, books, and scientific references related to audio-visual based Islamic learning models. The data analysis technique used content analysis through the stages of data reduction, theme categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the activation of hearing plays a significant role in improving listening skills, understanding information, and strengthening the internalization of values through Qur’anic recitation, lectures, dialogue, and educational communication. Meanwhile, the activation of sight helps students understand concepts concretely through observation, visual media, demonstrations, and multimedia-based learning technologies. The integration of audio and visual approaches in Islamic learning has proven effective in enhancing students’ attention, motivation, memory, and emotional engagement in the learning process. Furthermore, this approach also supports character building, emotional development, and children’s spirituality through exemplary behavior, positive communication, and more interactive and meaningful learning experiences. This study concludes that the optimization of hearing and sight should become a primary concern in developing holistic and adaptive Islamic learning models in accordance with contemporary educational developments. Audio-visual approaches not only improve learning effectiveness but also strengthen moral formation and students’ religious awareness in their daily lives.

Abstract

This study discusses the existence of Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF) in Islamic boarding schools in Aceh as a form of Islamic education development integrated with the national formal education system. Pendidikan Diniyah Formal was established as an effort to preserve the intellectual tradition of pesantren through the study of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) while also providing formal legal recognition for pesantren graduates. This study aims to analyze the existence of Pendidikan Diniyah Formal in Aceh, its institutional development, and the factors that support and hinder its implementation in Islamic boarding schools. The study employed a qualitative approach using documentation studies, and interviews with parties involved in the implementation of Pendidikan Diniyah Formal in Aceh. The findings reveal that by 2023 there were 15 Pendidikan Diniyah Formal institutions spread across several regencies and cities in Aceh at the Wustha and Ulya levels. The existence of PDF demonstrates the transformation of dayah education through the integration of traditional salafiyah Islamic education with the modern formal education system without eliminating the identity of pesantren. Pendidikan Diniyah Formal  also contributes to improving the quality of dayah education through a structured curriculum, diploma legality, and the strengthening of students’ religious competencies. However, the development of PDF in Aceh still faces several challenges, including limited socialization, inadequate human resources, insufficient supporting facilities, and the lack of understanding among some dayah leaders regarding the legality and system of Pendidikan Diniyah Formal. Therefore, government support, increased socialization, and stronger collaboration among pesantren are needed to expand and strengthen the existence of Pendidikan Diniyah Formal  in Aceh.
