Abstract

Dengan adanya informasi yang lengkap sebagai media diseminasi ilmu mikologi, diharapkan kasus keracunan jamur liar bisa dicegah di masa mendatang di IndonesiaWild edible mushrooms are one the germplasms which consumed by some people in Indonesia. However, due to the similar morpholgical appearance from one mushroom to another, cases of wild mushroom poisoning might be occurred as the result of the misidentification at foraging time. One of the common poisonous mushrooms which easily found around residence area is Chlorophyllum molybdites. To date, there is no database of mushroom poisoning cases in Indonesia. The aims of this research was to provide the information regarding C. molybdites poisoning cases in Indonesia. This is a literature-based quantitative research. During the last 10 years, it is suspected that there have been 4 cases of Chlorophyllum cf. molybdites poisoning in Indonesia with a total of 34 victims and none has died. This mushroom is known to contain toxic compounds, namely polymeric protein. The main constraint related to determining the taxonomic identity of poisonous mushroom, is the lack of information and documentation of samples that cause poisoning in Indonesia. This research explained how to recognize the character of C. molybdites, information on its distribution, and its toxicity aspects. With the complete information as a medium for disseminating mycology

Abstract

Antibiotic resistance has now become a global problem that can endanger livestock. The use of antibiotics as a trigger for the growth of livestock can have an impact on humans. This study investigated the antibiotic resistance of Ciprofloxacin and Erythromycin against Escherichia coli. 14 samples of E.coli were isolated from the intestinal colon of chickens that were kept conventionally by broiler breeders in Yogyakarta. E.coli isolates were cultured on Eosin Methylene Blue Agar (EMB) media for 24 hours at the Bacteriology Laboratory of the Indonesian Veterinary Research Institute (BBLITVET), Bogor, Indonesia. Ciprofloxacin and Erythromycin antibiotic discs were placed on EMB media and then incubated for 24 hours at 37oC. The diameter of the clear zone of inhibition and the zone of resistance inhibition was measured on each repetition using the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) standard. The results obtained showed that the antibiotic Erythromycin had higher resistance than Ciprofloxacin. In conclusion, these two antibiotics can be categorized as susceptible or sensitive to E. coli bacteria

Abstract

Existing Human Physiology Anatomy teaching materials tend to have a gap between the content of teaching materials and students, and there is no link to the verses of the Qur'an and the values of Asma al Husna. This study aims to develop didactic and contemplative-based teaching materials for human anatomy and physiology. Research development (R & D) used the ADDIE model. The participants in this study were three experts and 58 sixth semester biology students, majoring in biology department, Tarbiyah and Teachers Training Faculty, IAIN Batusangkar. The research instruments were observation sheets, interview sheets and validation questionnaires. The mean and standard deviation were calculated to determine the validity. Didactic and contemplative teaching materials in the Human Physiology Anatomy course were developed to fulfill all aspects of a development research, according to the characteristics of a teaching material, having didactic and contemplative characteristics. The didactic and contemplative teaching materials developed contain didactic aspects in the form of various activities, according to student learning styles, there is contemplation practice, contains Asma al Husna and contains verses of the Qur'an. The didactic and contemplative teaching materials developed have validity with very valid criteria (3.45±0.43). Thus, these teaching materials are suitable for use in classroom learning, fill the gap between the content of teaching materials and students, stop the separation between "knowledge" and "student-self" and deserve to be used as a reference in developing teaching materials that integrate science and religion

Abstract

Bacterial community is an important element of an ecosystem both on land and in water. In aquatic ecosystems, bacteria that have the ability to produce biofilms have the advantage of being able to easily attach on a substrate. The main function of biofilm is assisting nutrition absorption from water and facilitating bacteria surviveness from unfavorable environmental conditions. This research was conducted to isolate and identify and test the potential of bacteria to form biofilms in vitro. The methodological steps included measuring the physical-chemical parameters of the waters; isolation by pour plating method; characterization and identification  based on morphological, biochemical and Gram staining; as well as testing the activity of biofilm formation by reading technique using microplate reader. The highest bacterial abundance was found at Station 3 (muddy substrate) which was 3.3x106 cfu/ml. Bacterial isolates that had the highest ability to form biofilms in vitro were Bb3, Bb4 and Bb1 isolates with values of 0.3315, 0.2370) and 0.2131, respectively. Bacteria that have the potential to form biofilms from various substrates in the waters of Nangka Island belong to Alcaligenes and Meniscus genera. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that bacteria from rocky substrates have the ability to produce biofilms better than isolates from other substrates.
