Abstract

Pterygoplichthys pardalis is a type of fish that is widely used by people around the Ciliwung River as raw material for food production. In addition, P. pardalis has not been cultivated. The process of fish farming requires a number of information and data on fish such as reproductive biology. Therefore, the research aimed is calculating the reproductive aspects of P. pardalis. The result for this research can be applied for fish farmers to start P. pardalis bredding process. The methods used are P. pardalis sampling, measurement of total length and weight, dissection of samples, calculation of gonad weight and liver weight, egg diameter, fecundity, calculation of gonad maturity stages (GMS), gonadosomatic index (GSI), hepatosomatic index (HSI), relationship of fecundity with gonad weight, relationship of egg diameter with gonad weight, relationship of fecundity with total weight, and length-weight relationship. GMS calculation results showed most male fish found in GMS I, while females were most found in GMS IV. The smallest GSI value was found in GMS I and the highest was in GMS IV both in male and female and the fecundity was 737-3820 eggs with egg diameters ranging from 1.571 mm-4.310 mm. Both male and female P. pardalis have negative allometric growth patterns

Abstract

Biooxidation method is connsidered more environmentally friendly and more economical to be able to overcome environmental problems polluted by metals. Sulfuric acid-producing bacteria is one of the biooxidizing agents, these bacteria can be isolated from acidic soil or acidic areas. The Kejayan Pasuruan River is drained by various industrial acidic wastes that contain metals. This study aims to obtain sulfuric acid-producing bacteria from the Kejayan river. Isolation and selection of sulfuric acid-producing bacteria from Kejayan river soil using thiosulfate medium. Pure isolates were obtained using the streak plate quadrant. In the biooxidation process using CuFeS2, sulfuric acid levels were measured using the turbidimetric method, the levels of [Cu] and [Fe] in the biooxidation medium were tested using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy). K.2 isolate was selected as sulfuric acid producing bacteria with the highest sulfate concentration [SO42-] 13.9 ppm at 48 hours. These bacteria have the potential as biooxidizing agents for Cu and Fe metals.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a skill that needs to be developed. LAPD is an alternative teaching material that can be used in learning activities with the aim of improving students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this research is to produce teaching materials in the form of LKPD oriented to critical thinking on biotechnology materials which are declared feasible, practical and effective. The method applied is R&D with a 4D development model. LKPD validation by media experts, LKPD material and practicality by field practitioners. The LKPD test was carried out in third grade (IX class) of Junior High School (IX A) SMP Negeri 1 Barus with 34 students, to see the effectiveness of the pre-test and post-test tests along with student response questionnaires. The results of the validation are in the very feasible category with a percentage of 84%, the practicality of the LKPD with a percentage of 94% which is included in the very practical category. The effectiveness of LKPD is measured by the N-Gain test, the average pre-test and post-test of students with a score of 0.6 in the medium category, meaning that student scores have increased and student questionnaire responses are 82% in the very good category. Therefore, the developed LKPD is categorized as very feasible, practical and effective to use

Abstract

Attitude is something that is needed by students because attitudes will affect student learning outcomes, while interest is a driving force for students to do what they expect. This study has the aim of knowing and analyzing the attitudes and interests of students to the subject of biology in high school students. On attitude by using indicators of cognitive, affective and conative views. In contrast to interest by using indicators of feelings of pleasure, attention, interest, and student involvement. This research was carried out at Senior High School of SMA Negeri 13 Medan in 2022 in May. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The population of this research were students of Senior High School SMA Negeri 13 Medan by citing a sample of 90 students in class XI. The research instrument used was an attitude and interest questionnaire that explained attitudes towards learning biology through 3 indicators with 30 statements, then interest in learning biology through 4 indicators with 30 statements. The information analysis method used is descriptive statistics. This data analysis technique uses Miles & Hubermaan analysis which consists of three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing and conclusions. Based on the results of the analysis of information, it was found that the students' actions and interest in learning at Senior High School of SMA Negeri 13 Medan were in the strong category

Abstract

The pre-composting process of inked waste paper serves to reduce Pb levels in compost raw materials in the form of inked waste paper by using Pb (lead) degradation agents in the form of corn cob charcoal, activated charcoal, PGPR and cow rumen liquor. This study intends to ensure the quality of waste compost materials in the form of inked waste paper after being given pb degradation agents. Pb test using AAS (Atomic Absorbtion Spectrophotometer) method and cellulolytic bacteria test using pour plate method. The data were statistically tested with Anova and LSD advanced tests. From the results of observations, it was known that the provision of Pb degradations agents in the form of activated charcoal and PGPR has a significant effect on Pb levels and has met SNI 19-7030-2004. Meanwhile, the highest number of cellulolytic bacteria was found in the treatment of giving cow rumen liquor followed by PGPR treatment

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia may affect changes in the daily behavior of the Timor deer in the Deer Captivity at the Grand Forest Park, Wan Abdul Rachman. The purpose of this study was to determine the daily behavior of the Timor deer (Cervus timorensis) during the COVID-19 pandemic at the Wan Abdul Rachman (WAR) Forest Park Deer Captivity (Tahura). The objects used are 4 male and female Timor deer. This study uses the Scan Sampling method with an interval of 10 minutes and starts from 08.00 - 17.00 WIB. Based on observations of the behavior of the Timor deer in captivity of the Tahura WAR Deer, it can be concluded that the most common behaviors are resting behavior (54.42%), eating behavior (34.95%), shifting behavior (6.37%), other behavior (2 ,6%), sleeping behavior (1,28%), self-playing behavior (0.79%) and social behavior (0.37%). During the COVID-19 pandemic (in 2021) there was an increase in the percentage of resting behavior (54.42%), sleeping (1.28%), social (0.37%), playing alone (0.79%) and others ( 2.6%) compared to the results of research before the covid-19 pandemic (in 2018) namely resting behavior (33.1%), sleeping (0.05%), social (0.26%), playing alone (0.6%) 1%) and others (2.45%). Meanwhile, the results of observations of the daily behavior of the Timor deer at the Tahura WAR Deer Captivity during the covid-19 pandemic (in 2021) showed a decrease in the percentage of eating behavior (34.95%) and moving (6.37%) compared to before the covid-19 pandemic (year). 2018) with the value of eating behavior (54.05%) and shifting behavior (9.99%). The difference in daily behavior shown to Timor deer in captivity is due to a decrease in the number of visitors due to the pandemic.

Abstract

White oyster mushroom (Pleurotus Ostreatus) is a type of wood fungus. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth response of white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) due to the addition of molasses and rice flour. This research was conducted at the Center for Breeding and Development of Oyster Mushroom and Ear Mushroom Cultivation Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency. This study used a factorial completely randomized design (RAL) consisting of 2 treatment factors, 16 treatments, 2 replications and 32 baglogs. The first factor is the concentration of molasses with M0: (control), M1: 7.5 ml/20 ml, M2: 15.0 ml/20 ml, M3: 22.5 ml/20 ml and the second factor is the administration of Rice Flour with a concentration of T0: (control), T1: 20 gr/20 ml, T2: 40 gr/20 ml, T3: 60 gr/20ml. Parameters observed were mycelium growth rate (cm), stalk height (cm), hood diameter (cm), hood thickness (mm), number of branches/clumps, and wet weight (g). The rice flour treatment 12 days after inoculation showed significantly different results with the highest data T0: 10.13cm and the lowest data T3: 8.00cm. The highest data was T0:14.85cm and the lowest data was T3: 12.36cm after 18 days after inoculation. The highest parameter of plant height was M0: 20.13cm and the highest data of rice flour treatment was T2: 19.13 cm. The hood diameter parameter showed the highest data was M2: 43.90cm and the highest rice flour treatment data was T2: 2.64cm. The highest data hood thickness parameters are M2: 29.09mm and T2: 29.98 mm. parameters of the highest number of data branches M0: 88.75 branches and T1: 86.25 branches. The highest data wet weight parameter was M0: 88.75 grams and the highest data was given to rice flour at T1: 86.25 grams

Abstract

In the new normal, teaching and learning activities can doing by offline, but with the condition that health protocols must be implemented. A person's behavior will be based on knowledge, by obtaining knowledge that is used as the formation of behavior, students can apply the habits they have understood. Students of X IPA class of senior high school SMAN 1 Simpang Kiri have studied virus material in Biology subjects related to COVID-19. Therefore, this study aims to determine the level of students' knowledge about virus material and how students' healthy living behavior in the new normal era in preventing transmission of t Covid and knowing the relationship between knowledge of virus and healthy living behavior of students in  new normal. This research doing with a quantitative approach and manifold correlational research. Samples taken using simple random sampling technique untill 75 respondents were obtained. Data collection technique using test instruments and questionnaires and analyzed with the Kendall's Tau correlation test. Based on the results of the study, it shown that the frequency with which students' knowledge levels highest was in very high category, the highest frequency students healthy behavior in new normal in preventing COVID ransmission in good category, from analysis  Kendall's Tau correlation test, it showed knowledge of virus and healthy living  students in new normal has relationship and regression value of 0.245 and the strength relationship  in  low category  and has a positive direction. From the calculation of coefficient determination, the contribution or magnitude of influence knowledge on behavior is 6%.

Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis jacq.), is a vegetable oil-producing plant, which cannot be separated from the attack of caterpillars that eat oil palm leaves which can cause a decrease in plant production. The purpose of this study was to determine the attack rate of bagworm (Metisa plana) and how to control it, on each oil palm plant block at PT. Umada Pernantian "A", Kec. Marbau, North Labuhan Batu Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive method by collecting primary data and secondary data. Primary data is the result of observations in the field with a pest census using a descriptive method. Secondary data is data from the previous pest census in the company. The highest attack rate of Metisa plana was found in block I and block II with an incidence of 18% in block I and 8% in block II, the number of pests in block I was 27,336, and 18,480 in block II, which was >5 tails / midrib with weight category. The lowest Metisa plana attack rate was found in block III and block V where the percentage of bagworm attacks in block III: 0.08% and in block V: 0.11%, the number of pests in block III: 23 tails and block V: 26 tails, with an attack rate of <2 bagworms per midrib. After chemical control was carried out in blocks I and II, the percentage of attacks in block I: 0.43% and block II: 0.34%, the number of pests in block I: 100 and 70 in block II, the attack rate in block I and II were being <2 tails/midrib in the light category

Abstract

Fungal growth is influenced by various kinds of additional nutrients provided, including the addition of molasses and liquid organic fertilizer from fruit waste. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect and interaction of adding molasses and liquid organic fertilizer on baglog media on the growth and production of white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus). The research was conducted from May-July 2022 at the Center for Breeding and Development of Oyster Mushroom Cultivation on Sunggal District, Deli Serdang Regency. The research method used was a 2-factor factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), 16 treatment combinations and 2 replications so that there were 32 baglogs. The first factor consisted of 4 levels of treatment, namely M0: no treatment (control), M1: 7.5 ml/baglog, M2: 15 ml/baglog and M3: 22.5 ml/baglog. The second factor consisted of 4 levels of treatment, namely P0: no treatment (control), P1: 7.5 ml/baglog, P2: 15 ml/baglog and P3: 22.5 ml/baglog. Parameters observed were mycelium growth rate (cm), stalk height (cm), hood diameter (cm), hood thickness (mm), number of branches/clumps, and wet weight (g). In the mycelium growth rate parameter, the highest data was found in the P0 treatment of 20.62 cm. In the stalk height parameter, the highest data was found in the M0 treatment of 7.17 cm. In the hood diameter parameter, the highest data was found in the M2 treatment of 10.55 cm. In the hood thickness parameter, the highest data was found in the M2 treatment of 5.11 mm. In the parameter of the number of branches, the highest data is found in the P3 treatment of 9.63. In the wet weight parameter, the highest data in the P3 treatment was 126.38 g.
