Abstract

Infectious diseases are a problem for public health and can increase patient morbidity and mortality. Bacteria that cause infectious diseases include Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis. Inappropriate use of antibiotics can cause resistance problems and the effects of undesirable drugs. Jamblang (Syzygium cumini) leaf extract can be used as a natural antibacterial drug. There is a study showing the content of active compounds in the leaves of Jamblang are Flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and saponins are components of chemical compounds that are suspected as antibacterial. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of Jamblang leaf extract against Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis bacteria. The method used is the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration method using well diffusion. The study used Jamblang leaf extract with various concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%, the test bacteria used were Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis, using positive control of chloramphenicol, and negative control of 10% DMSO. The results showed that Jamblang leaf extract can inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes and Proteus mirabilis bacteria in all concentrations. In the Kruskall Wallis Non-Parametric statistical test the two bacteria obtained P 0.05.In Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria the value of P = 0.031, and Proteus mirabilis bacteria the value of P = 0.015. These results indicate a real difference in this study.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases that is the cause of death in the world. WHO estimates the prevalence of hypertension is 22% of the total world population. Patients with hypertension often do not realize that they have hypertension and only find out after experiencing complications, so health screening is necessary. Blood donation in Rembang Regency also check their blood pressure before donating their blood. This can be a positive effort to improve health, control and manage signs and symptoms that arise. The purpose of this study was to screening blood donation for hypertension in Rembang Regency. This research is an observational study with a cross sectional design. The population in this study were voluntary blood donation who donated their blood during the month of Ramadhan at PMI Rembang Regency in 2018-2020 with a total sample of 260 blood donations. The sampling technique used in this research is simple random sampling. Based on data from blood donation in Rembang Regency, the results showed that most of the blood donation were male, as many as 221 (85.0%) blood donations and most of them aged 25-34 years, namely 81 (31.2%) blood donations. Most of the blood donation were included in the pre-hypertension category as many as 226 (86.0%) blood donations, and there were 12 (4.6%) blood donations included in the hypertension I category.

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is still one of the health problems in the world because its prevalence tends to increase and its spread is wider. Liver dysfunction is a result of dengue infection which often appears in the form of hepatomegaly and mild-to-moderate elevations in the enzyme aminotransferase (SGOT SGPT). Aminotransferase enzymes tend to be higher along with the severity of the disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of SGOT and SGPT in patients with DHF who were treated at Harapan Magelang Hospital in January 2020 until March 2020. This research is descriptive. The number of samples in this study were 83 patients who were treated at Harapan Magelang Hospital. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling. The results of the study resulted in an increase in SGOT by 84.7% and an increase in SGPT by 51.8%. Most of the increase in SGOT is mild-moderate, increasing 1-3 x from the normal value of 53% n = 44/83 and increasing 3-10x from the normal value of 26.5% n = 22/83 while the SGPT is mostly still within normal limits 48.5% n = 40/83. The average SGOT level obtained was 129.5 U / l and the average SGPT level was 87.7 U / L. The conclusion was that SGOT levels increased more mildly 1-3 x than normal values and SGPT levels were still within normal limits in patients with dengue fever.

Abstract

The metal smelting industry tends to have high air Pb levels exceeding the threshold determined by the CDC is 100 g/m3. The smelting dust particles are Pb and SO2 circulating in the air along with combustion fumes is very possible to be inhaled by metal smelters who do not wear proper personal protective equipment. High levels of Pb The air inhaled by metal smelters can affect the health level of workers, one of which is the disruption of the erythropoiesis process which can cause abnormal erythrocyte index levels. This study aims to determine the description of erythrocyte index levels in metal smelters based on literature studies. This research is an observational qualitative research through a literature review approach, with data collection methods that use secondary data from several related scientific journals. Secondary data analysis is descriptive and presented in tabular form. Based on the results of research from three related scientific journals, the average level of the erythrocyte index in metal smelting workers is normochromic normocytic with an average length of work of more than 3.89 years, workers who smoke as much as 78% and those who do not smoke as much as 22%, workers who using PPE as much as 56% and 44% who do not use PPE.

Abstract

Laboratory examiners before giving blood transfusions (PretransfusionTesting) is a vital part of the transfusion activity. Incompatible Crossmatching blood tests on patients is consistent if we had to crossmatching one or more of the one or all of the positive so that blood is stated compatible with the patient. The gel test method has many advantages compared to the tubulating method other than the halting factor time. The gel test procedures have also been simpler, more practical, and easier results reading done. The goal of this study to identify the output of crossmatching receipts on the geltest method of 2019 in Indonesian Redcross of Klaten, this research method using a descriptive design with a sectional cross approach. And data retrieval using secondary data. The results shows the number of inconsistencies in patients of 116 cases. As many as 57% (66) incompatible crossmatching major minor and autocontrol of 43%(50) found a type of compatible major. The conclution are that in Indonesian Redcross of Klaten found most frequently in the diagnosis of anemia 59% (69) patients. The result of incompatible minor and positive autocontrol 57% more than compatible major 43%. Incompatible crossmatching receipts per month in the high Indonesian Redcross of Klaten is in April of 27 patients or 23%.
