Abstract

Tomato production in West Java has decreased in 2021-2023 due to suboptimal cultivation practices, especially in the continuous use of chemical fertilizers with excessive doses. The use of liquid organic fertilizers is one potential solution. The research method used is an experimental method, using a single factor Randomized Block Design (RAK) consisting of 9 treatments and repeated 3 times, with treatments consisting of A (NPK 300 kg + POC 0 ml), B (NPK 240 kg + POC 2 ml), C (NPK 240 kg + POC 4 ml), D (NPK 240 kg + POC 6 ml), E (NPK 240 kg + POC 8 ml), F (NPK 180 kg + POC 2 ml), G (NPK 180 kg + POC 4 ml), H (NPK 180 kg + POC 6 ml), I (NPK 180 kg + POC 8 ml). The observation data were analyzed by analysis of variance and further tested with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a level of 5%. The results of the F test showed that there was a significant effect of the combination of NPK fertilizer doses and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer from fruit waste on the growth and yield of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersium) of the Gustavi F1 variety. The DMRT test showed that treatment E (NPK 240 kg + POC 8 ml) gave the highest results on the average parameters of plant height 78.187 cm, Number of leaves 22.6 stalks, Stem diameter 9.387 mm, Fruit weight per grain 51.635 g, Number of fruits per plant 15.333 grains, Fruit weight per plant 792.667 g, Fruit sweetness level (Brix) 7.667. Keywords: NPK fertilizer, liquid organic fertilizer, tomato

Abstract

Obtaining soybeans with good yields can utilize chicken manure fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of chicken manure fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth on soybean plant production. The research method used a Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 factors with 16 treatment combinations and 2 blocks. The factors studied were chicken manure fertilizer treatment (A) consisting of 4 levels: 0, 2, 3, and 3 kg/plot. The liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth (E) consisted of 4 levels: 0, 300, 400, and 500 ml/liter of water per plot. The parameters observed were: number of pods per plot (pods), pod weight per sample (g), and weight of 100 dry seeds (g). The research results indicate that the effectiveness of chicken manure fertilizer on soybean plant production has a very significant effect on the number of pods per plot (pods), pod weight per sample (g), and 100 dry seed weight (g). The best treatment was the application of chicken manure fertilizer at 3 kg/plot. Keywords: influential, production, treatment

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of compost and urea application on the growth of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). The experiment was conducted at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Pembinaan Masyarakat Indonesia (UPMI), using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments of compost and urea combinations, namely K0U0 (0 kg compost + 0 g urea), K1U1 (1 kg compost + 10 g urea), K2U2 (2 kg compost + 20 g urea), and K3U3 (3 kg compost + 30 g urea), each replicated three times. The observed parameters were plant height and number of leaves at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks after planting (WAP). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level. The results indicated that compost and urea treatments, either applied individually or in combination, did not significantly affect plant height and leaf number of cucumber at all observation periods based on ANOVA and DMRT analysis. However, there was a tendency of increased average plant height and leaf number under the highest combined treatment (K3U3). This suggests that balanced fertilization with compost and urea has the potential to support cucumber vegetative growth, although under the present experimental conditions, the effect was not statistically significant. Keywords: compost, urea, growth, cucumber

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of applying Jadam Microbial Solution (JMS) and liquid NPK fertilizer, both factorially and in combination, on the growth of mustard greens (Brassica juncea L.). The experiment was carried out using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of two factors. The first factor was JMS application with four levels (J0 = 0 ml/l water, J1 = 100 ml/l water, J2 = 200 ml/l water, J3 = 300 ml/l water), and the second factor was liquid NPK fertilizer with four levels (N0 = 0 ml/l water, N1 = 10 ml/l water, N2 = 15 ml/l water, N3 = 20 ml/l water). Each treatment combination was repeated three times, resulting in 16 treatment combinations. The results showed that JMS application had a significant effect on plant height and number of leaves at all observation times (7, 14, and 21 days after planting/DAP), indicating improved vegetative growth and yield. Liquid NPK fertilizer application also significantly affected plant height and number of leaves at all observation times. The combination of JMS and liquid NPK fertilizer had no significant effect during the early growth stage (7 DAP), but showed significant effects on plant height and number of leaves at 14 and 21 DAP. These findings indicate that factorial application of JMS and liquid NPK fertilizer can enhance the growth of mustard greens, while their combination is effective at certain vegetative growth stages. Keywords: Brassica juncea L., jadam microbial solution, liquid NPK

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of planting media composition and NPK Mutiara fertilizer application on the growth and yield of cherry tomato plants (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) in North Sumatra. The research method used a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors: planting media composition (topsoil, cow manure/compost/chicken manure, and rice husk) and NPK Mutiara fertilizer dosage (0, 15, 25, and 35 g/plot). The observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, number of productive branches, number of fruits per plant, number of fruits per sample, fruit weight per plot, and fruit diameter. The results showed that neither the single effect nor the interaction between planting media and NPK Mutiara fertilizer had a statistically significant effect on the growth and yield of cherry tomatoes. Environmental factors are presumed to be more dominant in influencing the results. Keywords: planting media, NPK fertilizer, growth, yield

Abstract

Red chili is a horticultural crop that is already widely cultivated in Indonesia. The main constraint faced by farmers is the attack of plant pests, namely Fusarium wilt disease. One alternative control method is the use of biofungicides containing the fungi T. harzianum and T. koningii. This research was conducted in two different locations: isolation of the pathogenic fungus Fusarium, identification of Trichoderma fungi, and mass production of T. harzianum and T. koningii using rice medium at the Biological Agents / Botanical Pesticides Laboratory, Biaung. The planting of red chili seedlings and the application of biofungicides were carried out in the field of the Biological Agents / Botanical Pesticides Laboratory on Jalan Tegal Harum, Gang Sakura, Biaung, East Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali, from May to August 2025. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 7 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments were: 0 grams of biofungicide of T. harzianum and T. koningii fungi, a dose of 10 grams, a dose of 20 grams, a dose of 30 grams of T. harzianum biofungicide, and doses of 10 grams, 20 grams, and 30 grams of T. koningii biofungicide. Statistically, the application of different doses of T. harzianum and T. koningii biofungicides produced a significant difference in suppressing the intensity of Fusarium wilt disease, as shown by the one-way ANOVA test (p<0.05). The use of T. harzianum and T. koningii biofungicides at a dose of 30 grams proved effective against Fusarium wilt, with the level of suppression reaching 100% after four weeks of application. Keywords: Fusarium Wilt, red chili pepper, Trichoderma harzianum, Trichoderma koningii.

Abstract

The presence of weed vegetation is one of the main limiting factors in increasing the productivity of paddy fields in the semi-arid region of Kupang Regency. This study aims to identify the species composition and analyse the community structure of weeds in the paddy field agro-ecosystem in Mata Air Village using the Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR) parameter. The study was conducted using a quadrat method with 24 sample plots (0.25 m²) laid out randomly. Data were analysed quantitatively to determine Relative Density (RD), Relative Frequency (RF), and SDR. The results identified three main groups of weeds with varying levels of dominance. Sedges were the most dominant group with the highest SDR value (38.74%), driven by a very high individual density in the field (RD 47.85%). Grasses ranked second (SDR 31.64%), followed by broadleaves with an SDR value of 29.62%. Although they had the lowest dominance, broad-leaved weeds exhibited the most even spatial distribution across the study area (FR 38.89%). The combined dominance of sedges and grasses, which exceeded 70%, indicates that competition for nutrients and space at the study site is heavily influenced by monocotyledonous vegetation. These findings suggest the need for the integration of intensive soil management and appropriate water management as part of an Integrated Weed Management (IWM) strategy in Mata Air Village. Keywords: weeds, vegetation analysis, mata air village, paddy fields, SDR

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of different growing media on the early growth of durian seedlings (Durio zibethinus Murr.) and to determine the most effective medium for nursery production. The experiment was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments: P0 (topsoil + cow manure), P1 (topsoil + cow manure + rice husk), P2 (topsoil + cow manure + cocopeat), and P3 (topsoil + cow manure + sawdust) at a ratio of 1:1:1. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf width, leaf length, leaf color, and growing media pH. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by DMRT at a 5% significance level. The results showed that growing media significantly affected leaf length, while plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf width, leaf color, and media pH were not significantly different among treatments. Treatment P2 produced the longest leaves (13.26 cm) and showed the best overall growth performance. The addition of cocopeat improved moisture retention, aeration, and nutrient absorption efficiency, supporting vegetative growth. Therefore, P2 medium is recommended as the most effective growing medium for durian seedling production. Keywords: durian, growing medium, seedling, vegetative
