Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) is a strategic indicator that reflects the quality of life, achievements of society, particularly in the domains of education and economy. This study aims to analyze the contribution of educational and economic factors to the variation in HDI scores across districts and municipalities in East Java Province. A quantitative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis. The independent variables include the number of senior high schools, the student–teacher ratio in senior high schools, the Net Enrollment Rate (NER) at the senior high school level, the poverty rate, and per capita expenditure. The dependent variable is the Human Development Index (HDI). Data were obtained from the 2023 publication of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), covering 38 districts/municipalities in East Java Province. The results indicate that the educational and economic factors significantly contributing to HDI are the NER, poverty rate, and per capita expenditure, while the number of senior high schools and student–teacher ratio show no significant contribution. The regression model strongly explains the proportion of HDI variance with a high R-square value, making it a reliable basis for formulating regional development policies. This study underscores that interventions aimed at improving educational attainment and strengthening the local economy are key strategies for accelerating human development in East Java. Although the multiple linear regression model used in this study shows strong explanatory power in identifying the educational and economic determinants of HDI across districts and cities in East Java, this model assumes independence between observation units and still cannot explain other indicators that influence HDI in detail. Therefore, future research on HDI indicators could utilise a multilevel or linear mixed modelling framework to achieve a more robust analytical level that could assist policymakers in formulating policies.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increase in customer complaints at BSI from 2021 to 2023, despite a reduction in SLA for complaint resolution. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of the Complaint Handling Management System (CHMS) in handling customer complaints at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) and to identify potential bottlenecks as well as customer satisfaction with the complaints process. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study include BSI employees managing the CHMS and customers who use the complaint service. The results show that the CHMS application successfully reduced the SLA for complaints, from 8.45% to 0.71%, indicating improved speed and efficiency of handling complaints. However, bottlenecks were still identified. Overall, customer satisfaction with the CHMS application is high, with 82.79% of customers expressing satisfaction with the service. The implications of this study suggest the importance of continually enhancing employee training and optimizing the automation features within CHMS to reduce bottlenecks and further improve customer satisfaction.

Abstract

As we know, writing is one of the most difficult skills for EFL learners. This skill emerges with challenges with vocabulary, grammar, and structural coherence. This study investigates the impact of collaborative writing on the writing performance of fifth-grade elementary students compared to individual writing. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design is conducted by using collaborative activities such as chain story, word construction, and comic strips. The writing performance was assessed using Jacob’s ESL Composition Profile across five key aspects. The result of the research showed that collaborative writing significantly improved students’ organization area (p = 0.003) and mechanics (p = 0.046). However, statistical analysis also showed no significant difference in content (p = 0.058), vocabulary (p = 0.059), and grammar (p = 0.414). The findings show that even though collaborative strategies effectively help young learners in structuring texts and improving punctuation usage, these strategies may not immediately enhance linguistic accuracy or enrich vocabulary without further treatment. This study also offers empirical evidence distinguishing which specific writing skills are most responsive to collaborative activity in elementary settings.

Abstract

The convection industry, as a labor-intensive sector, faces high turnover risk influenced by work pressure and work-life imbalance, but studies on the relationship between these two factors are still limited to the context of medium-scale garment manufacturing. This study analyzes how workload and work-life balance affect the likelihood of employees at CV X leaving their jobs. The study uses a correlational quantitative approach with a sample of 118 employees selected through simple random sampling. The instruments used include the NASA-TLX scale to measure workload, the work-life balance scale, and Mobley's turnover intention scale. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression after all statistical assumptions were met. The findings show that workload has a positive and significant impact on the desire to leave a job, but work-life balance does not have a strong influence. However, when both factors are considered together, they have a significant influence on the intention to leave a job. These findings confirm that high work demands are a major factor driving increased turnover intention, while work-life balance is not a direct determinant for blue-collar workers with an WFO system. The implications of this study underscore the need for proportional workload management and work recovery strategies to reduce turnover in the convection industry.

Abstract

Employee performance is the level of achievement of a person's work results according to the tasks and standards set, which is seen from how he or she carries out his or her work and meets organizational demands. This study aims to empirically test and analyze the influence of work-life balance, organizational culture and work discipline on organizational commitment and its implications for employee performance. The research method used in this study is a quantitative research method with a descriptive and verification approach. The data sources used are primary data sources and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques in this study are interviews, questionnaires, observations, and library research. The population in this study is all employees totaling 105 people. The sampling technique used in this study is a purposive sampling technique. The analytical tools in this study are SPSS 25 and SmartPLS 4. Testing of measurement models or outer models in this study are convergent validity, discriminant validity, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), composite reliability, Cronbach alpha. Testing of structural models or inner models in this study is the coefficient of determination (R2) and Predictive relevance (Q2). The results of this study indicate that work-life balance, organizational culture, and work discipline have a positive and significant effect on organizational commitment, both partially and simultaneously, with a 92% effect, with the remaining 8% being influenced by other variables not examined in this study. Organizational commitment has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, and organizational commitment can mediate the relationship between work-life balance and employee performance. Meanwhile, organizational commitment cannot mediate the relationship between organizational culture and work discipline on employee performance.

Abstract

The transition from traditional cost-based to service-oriented fare models represents a paradigm shift in public transport financing. This study develops a comprehensive fare calculation model for Buy-the-Service (BTS) transit systems that integrates operational costs, user satisfaction, Ability to Pay (ATP), and Willingness to Pay (WTP). Using data from BisKita Trans Bekasi Patriot corridor in Indonesia, we employed multiple linear regression analysis with 314 users to derive a predictive WTP model: WTP = 2,589.329 + (256.865 × Satisfaction) + (0.030 × ATP). Results indicate that operational costs per passenger (IDR 17,060.20) significantly exceed user WTP (IDR 4,178.34), necessitating a subsidy of IDR 12,876.71 per passenger to maintain service sustainability. Statistical validation confirms model robustness (F = 8.377, p < 0.001) with no multicollinearity issues (VIF = 1.097). The study demonstrates that user satisfaction significantly influences fare acceptance, with each satisfaction unit increasing WTP by IDR 256.87. These findings provide actionable insights for policymakers implementing BTS schemes in developing countries, emphasising the critical role of targeted subsidies in balancing affordability with operational viability while maintaining service quality standards.

Abstract

Gender equality is a fundamental element of Human Rights and an important aspect of modern society today. However, gender stereotypes remain a significant obstacle to achieving social justice, creating a noticeable gap between the principles outlined in the constitution and the social realities faced by women and gender minority groups. This research aims to examine the protection of fundamental rights and the principle of gender equality, focusing on the role of the constitution in supporting gender equality, as well as identifying the obstacles and challenges in implementing the constitution that ensures gender justice and human rights protection in Indonesia. The methodology used is a normative legal approach through an in-depth and comprehensive literature study to thoroughly identify the research problems.
