Abstract

The result of 2015 PISA (Program for International Students Assessment) test which placed Indonesia in the 65th position of 72 countries showed the importance to improve the level of students thinking ability. There are many ways to improve the students’ thinking. One way to do that is by giving the students drill to solve higher order thinking problems. However, this solution is difficult to implement because designing HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills) problem is difficult for the teachers. Therefore, 20 junior high school mathematics teaches ware selected in order to give them training and workshop to improve their ability to design higher order thinking skills using action research methods. Three stages ware implemented in this training and workshop. First, introduction to HOTS, Second, designing HOTS Problems, and third, trying out and evaluating the test result. Product of the workshop are 30 mathematical problems in certain topic in which 15 of them are HOTS problems. To measure the effectiveness of the training and workshop, the result of pre-test and posttest were compared. Based on the data analysis, there was an increase of the ability of mathematics junior high school teachers to design problems to assess the higher order thinking skills.

Abstract

Solok Selatan district is located at an altitude of 350-430 meters above sea level. The landscape varies between lowlands, hills and highlands which are a series of Bukit Barisan mountains. Solok Selatan district is faced with complex environmental problems. The practice of illegal logging in forest areas and illegal gold mining along the Batang Hari and Batang Sangir streams on a large scale, so that the district of Solok Selatan is often hit by natural disasters. In addition this also caused damage to infrastructure and fatalities. This event was triggered by the low awareness and level of education of the community about the importance of environmental preservation. This is also shown from the level of Human Development Index (HDI) of Solok Selatan regency for 2017 which is 67.81 lower than the Province of West Sumatera which is 71.24. It can also be seen from the results of the 2016 National Examination ranking which is ranked 16th, with an average value of 49.18. The objectives of this activity and the targets set are to assist teachers in developing teaching materials through the concept review based on local wisdom. The method used consists of the observation phase, the orientation and discussion phase, the preparation phase for implementation, the implementation phase, the monitoring and evaluation stage as well as the data analysis and report stage. The instrument used was a science concept study test based on local wisdom and a questionnaire for the implementation of activities. The instrument used was a test on the concept review and local wisdom and the questionnaires for the implementation activities. The results of data analysis of the pretest and posttest, showed the average pretest score was 55.14, and the average posttest score was 67.18. From the paired t test, the significance result was 0.023 <0.05. So it can be concluded that the assistance activities in developing teaching material for sciences teachers have been able to improve the competence of science teachers in Junior High School in Solok Selatan district.

Abstract

Abstract – To accomodate High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in classrom, we need to consider curricula, learning process, and assesment. Learning process and assesment have an essential requirement i.e. teacher’s ability. Government has done some activity to increase teacher’s ability to apply HOTS in classrom, but teachers need more. To keep their motivation and ability, teachers need a continue activity related to HOTS. Lecturer is an academic expert who teach in university level. In Indonesia, service to community is one of obligation for lecturer. Hence increasing teachers understanding about HOTS is one of lecturer’s duty. Training and workshops has been designed to rose teachers ability in creating HOTS problems and teaching using those problems. In this activity, teachers are studied about HOTS concept, the government policy about HOTS, solve some HOTS problem in National level test, and how to create HOTS base mathematical problems. For the next activity, teachers are asked to create some HOTS base mathematical problems, and design a learning trajectoty/ design to put their HOTS problem in learning process. Lastly, base on teacher’s satisfaction questionnaire, teachers are very happy to get this activity for the activity’s programme, mastery of topics, and teacher ‘s needs.

Abstract

Tahap berpikir siswa pada tingkat sekolah dasar berada pada tahap operasional konkrit sehingga dalam belajar mereka akan lebih mudah memahami jika menggunakan media yang mereka lihat dan kerjakan langsung. Berdasarkan observasi dan diskusi dengan beberapa guru Sekolah Dasar, khususnya untuk materi operasi bilangan bulat dan pecahan sebagian besar guru belum menggunakan media pembelajaran yang baik dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini disebabkan guru belum terbiasa dan terlatih dalam membuat dan menggunakan media pembelajaran interaktif. Akibatnya siswa masih kesulitan dalam memahami operasi bilangan bulat dan pecahan. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut maka tim pengabdian melaksanakan pelatihan kepada guru-guru SD untuk membuat media pembelajaran interaktif serta mempraktekkan penggunaan media tersebut . Hasil dari pelatihan telah dapat meningkatkan kompetensi guru yaitu pemahaman dan keterampilan guru dalam membuat media interaktif serta mengaplikasikannya dalam pembelajaran operasi bilangan bulat dan pecahan.

Abstract

There are problems in implementing integrated science learning in SMP / MTs in West Pasaman Regency. Most teachers do not have a handbook according to the nature of integrated science. Existing teacher books, the fields of biology, chemistry and physics are still not integrated into a single unit. The next problem, the low motivation and creativity of teachers in finding sources of information and integrating fields of study for learning. The solution offered is to increase the professionalism of science teachers is through technical guidance for making science-based Integrated science teacher books. Integrated science learning is designed with integrative thematic learning that is learning that integrates a learning concept with another subject. This Bimtek succeeded in increasing the competence of science teachers in MGMP Pasaman Barat in developing Integrated Science teacher books with themes in accordance with local wisdom with the Scientific Approach.

Abstract

Laboratorium activity and experiment related to Dynamic Electricity topic in secondary schools have always been a “scary” thing to science teachers in Indonesia, especially to those with more experience in teaching Biology than Physics. To our surprise, the problem was more related to teacher’s confidence to conduct lab acitivy rather than to the availability of experiment kit in school. Our visit to two schools in Padang revealed that each school has sufficient amout of experiment kit for Electricity but the science teachers were too scared to take students to lab and get nervous when something is not working, or too scared to damage the kit. Therefore, we would like to offer a solution to overcome this problem by intoducing an easy do-it-yourself simpe electricity circuit with potato. The activity is expected to build more confidence in teachers to conduct lab activity and make science learning more fun to the students. Abstract

This community service aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the community in processing various kitchen spices into nutritious herbal drinks in an effort to maintain and increase family immunity during the Covid19 pandemic in Pasir Nan Tigo Village, Koto Tangah District, Padang City. The activity was carried out in the Pertapalah community showroom, Pasir Nan Tigo Village, Koto Tangah Subdistrict, Padang City and involved 14 participants. The activities were implemented in two stages, namely guided and independent activities. In the guided activities, interactive enlightment and experiment methods were done. In the independent activities, participants within groups did the practice of making drinks from spices. Results showed that the participants’ knowledge about spices and their processing to become nutritious spices improved. The participants were also interested in producing and consuming the spice drinks made.

Abstract

Wilayah Kanagarian Api-Api Kecamatan Bayang, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan secara geografis berada di wilayah pesisir pantai dan tektonik aktif yang menyebabkan gempabumi. Gempabumi yang terjadi di lautan bisa menyebabkan terjadinya Tsunami. Oleh karena itu sangat penting untuk memberikan pengetahuan kepada masyarakat yang tinggal di daerah yang rawan terhadap bencana gempa bumi dan tsunami khususnya daerah yang dekat dengan Pantai tentang bahaya dari gempabumi dan tsunami. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan di 2 tempat yaitu di UPT SD.N 38 Api-Api dan di Kantor Wali Nagari Api-Api Kecamatan Bayang Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. Pengetahuan yang diberikan ini bertujuan agar dapat membantu mengukur kesiapsiagaan masyarakat akan datangnya bencana. Sehingga masyarakat dapat lebih siap dan siaga dalam menghadapi bencana serta dapat meminimalisir dampak yang terjadi akibat bencana tersebut.

Abstract

Pandemik covid 19 yang telah berlangsung selama 9 bulan telah membuat perekonomian porak poranda. Bagi petani kecil holtikutura/petani sayur satu satunya cara untuk tetap bertahan adalah dengan cara peningkatan kemampuannya untuk menciptakan strategi kemandirian, baik dari aspek produksi maupun pemasaran. Kemandirian petani untuk melakukan produksi sendiri tanpa bergantung pada penyediaan input produksi yang dijual di pasar, petani harus dapat menyediakan bibit dan pupuk untuk berproduksi, tanpa terganggu dengan kenaikan harga input produksi di pasar. Cara terbaik adalah dengan melakukan pertanian organik, sehat untuk dikonsumsi dan lingkungan terjaga terhindar dari keracunan residu kimia. Saat ini kasus keracunan pangan masih menghantui Indonesia. Keracunan makanan menempati urutan kedua setelah KLB difteri. Oleh sebab itu untuk mengurangi kasus tersebut atau meminimalisir maka masyrakat dituntut untuk mengonsumsi makanan sehat dan bergizi. Pangan yang sehat dan bergizi tinggi dapat diperoleh dari teknik pertanian yang juga sehat yaitu menggunakan metode pertanian yang organik. Saat ini pertanian organik semakin banyak di minati oleh masyarakat, dengan terbuktinya petani yang beralih dari pertanian konvensional menjadi pertanian organik. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini ialah untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai pertanian organik dan cara pemasaran yang effektif kepada para petani yang ada di kelurahan Payobasung Payakumbuh agar mampu mandiri ditengah merosotnya perekonomian. Upaya pengelolaan perkebunan dilakukan dengan metode penanaman sayuran secara organik, yaitu dengan penggunaan pupuk organik dan pestisida nabati yang bisa dibuat dan dipakai sendiri. Untuk meningkat kan sektor pertanian organik tersebut maka diberikan pelatihan-pelatihan diantaranya pelatihan tentang pertanian organik dan strategi pemasarannya. Dengan kemajuan teknologi saat ini, strategi pemasaran yang diangkat yaitu pemasaran secara online atau website. Model SKUPA (Model Skunda Pesankan) merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengatasi permasalahan pada petani sayur yang tidak memperhatikan kondisi lingkungan dan aktivitas bertani. Model SKUPA ini diterapkan melalui kegiatan pelatihan, pemutaran video, dan memberikan modul cara bertani yang memperhatikan kondisi lingkungan. Setelah menerapkannya pada satu lahan percontohan, hasil yang didapatkan telah mampu menyehatkan perekonomian petani . Dengan konsep ini pendapatan petani dapat meningkat 100%. Dengan keterampilan pertanian sayur organik model SKUPA dapat meningkatkan hasil panen sayur sehat di setiap hari dan keterampilan menggunakan website untuk pemasaran setiap hari hasil panen dapat di jual, masyarakat sehat dan sejahtera serta lingkungan terjaga.

Abstract

The increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia has prompted the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) to recommend online learning as an effort to reduce the spread of the virus. The use of new online learning technology is dominated by SMA / MA in big cities because of the financial capacity and availability of a digital learning system that is better than SMA / MA in remote areas. The problem currently faced is the unavailability of teaching materials oriented to the online learning process (e-learning) in accordance with the demands of the 2013 Curriculum and the ability of most educators to prepare teaching materials for independent online learning still needs to be improved. Therefore, community service training in the development / manufacture of teaching materials that is oriented to the guided inquiry learning model and applies three types of representation to express chemical ideas, so that the chemistry learning process produces three learning levels, namely symbolic representation, macroscopic and sub-microscopic, or molecular. Have been trained to use Camtasia aplication.
