Abstract

This study aims to find out how big the profitability ratio is in projecting stock returns for go public companies engaged in the mining sector which are included in the pre-pandemic to post-pandemic LQ45 index for the 2017-2022 period. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method and uses a purposive sampling technique. The analysis technique uses trend analysis. The results of the research and discussion during the study period were that the four profitability ratio indicators (NPM, ROA, ROE, EPS) experienced a positive trend or uptrend and were accompanied by an uptrend on stock returns. This indicates that when the company is successful in generating profits, investors will scramble to buy these shares so that the share price will increase and of course it will create a greater return value that can be felt by shareholders. And when the company has the ability to generate profits, the greater the potential stock returns that will occur.

Abstract

Women waste pickers in Kota Harapan Indah, despite facing social stigma and social discrimination, can still show resilience in overcoming challenges and problems in their work. The self-concept of women waste pickers is formed through social and personal perceptions, social relationships, and self-experiences that ultimately form the basis for understanding how they adapt to challenging environments. This study aims to find out and describe the self-concept of women scavenger workers. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The study data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results showed that women waste pickers in Kota Harapan, Indonesia, experienced a negative social perception from the community regarding their work. This social stigma influences the formation of self-concept in the imagination through shadows of self-appearance, judgment, and emotional feelings. In addition, social interaction, both with family, fellow waste pickers, and the surrounding community, has an important role in shaping the self-concept of women scavenger workers. Positive feedback from the social environment can increase the self-confidence and self-acceptance of women scavengers. This research shows that the self-concept of women scavengers is influenced by people's perceptions, social relationships, and personal experiences. This self-image is the result of complex interactions between individuals and their environment. The conclusions in this study show how social and self-perceptions, social relationships, and self-experiences have a significant role in shaping the self-concept of women scavenger workers.

Abstract

Islamic banking in Malaysia and Indonesia ranks first (Malaysia) and third (Indonesia) based on the top Islamic financial development indicator (IFDI) countries. However, this great potential has not been matched by a comprehensive performance measurement covering social and sharia aspects as well as the health of Islamic banks.  Therefore, this study aims to measure the performance of Islamic banks through the Maqashid Syariah Index and RGEC approaches using quantitative methods.  The results showed that through the MSI approach, Malaysian Islamic banking is superior to Indonesian Islamic banking in the aspects of justice and benefit. Through the RGEC approach, the NPF, ROA, FDR, and CAR ratios show that Malaysian Islamic banking is superior. The implications of this research can be useful for Islamic banking in developing the right strategy in order to improve sharia and social performance and bank health.
