Abstract

The obstacles in the biology learning process are curriculum implementation, syllabus development, competence, material mastery, learning methods, laboratories, learning media, teaching aids, learning evaluation, and learning motivation. This study aims to identify the obstacles faced by teachers in the biology learning process at SMAN 1 Rantau Utara, Labuhanbatu Regency using descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research data were obtained by distributing questionnaires and interviews with statements about barriers in the study of biology. Data is processed in percentages. The diagram results show high walls from 78% of laboratories, 76% of the curriculum, 70% of methods, media, and evaluation, and 67% of teacher competence. Overall, the data collection results show that with high barriers, obstacles to implementing the biology learning process cover an average of 72%. The results of this study can be used as a reference for teachers in schools, especially biology to design learning activities that further stimulate students' creative processes. In addition, it is hoped that external education stakeholders in Indonesia will focus more on implementing better policies.Abstrak Hambatan dalam proses pembelajaran biologi berupa penerapan kurikulum, pengembangan silabus, kompetensi, penguasaan materi, metode pembelajaran, laboratorium, media pembelajaran, alat peraga, evaluasi pembelajaran, dan motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan yang dihadapi guru dalam proses pembelajaran biologi di SMAN 1 Rantau Utara, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil data diperoleh dengan menyebarkan kuesioner dan juga wawancara dengan pernyataan tentang hambatan dalam studi biologi. Data diproses dalam persentase. Hasil diagram menunjukkan hambatan  tinggi dari 78% laboratorium, 76% kurikulum, 70% metode, media dan evaluasi, kompetensi guru 67%. Secara keseluruhan, hasil pendataan menunjukkan bahwa dengan hambatan tinggi, hambatan pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran biologi meliputi rata-rata 72%. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan acuan bagi guru di sekolah, khususnya biologi untuk merancang kegiatan belajar yang lebih merangsang proses kreatif siswa. Selain itu, diharapkan pemangku kepentingan eksternal pendidikan di Indonesia agar semakin fokus dalam menerapkan kebijakan yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Learning that does not enable creative thinking skills does not facilitate student learning styles. This study aims to determine the effect of the PBL learning model with the VARK approach on the creative thinking skills of Biology students. This research uses quasi-experiment. The research subject was the 58 third-semester of Bachelor’s Degree students in the Department of Biology who took the Plant Physiology course. Data analysis used a single ANCOVA. The results showed that the PBL models with the VARK approach to creative thinking skills were 0.000, which means less than 0.05. These results prove that the research hypothesis is accepted, which means that the application of the learning model has a significant effect on students' creative thinking skills. The results of the 5% on LSD further test for the difference in the results of the two classes were 86.551 for the experimental class using the PBL model with the VARK approach, and 77.828 for the control class using the PBL models without the VARK approach. These results indicate that creative thinking skills using the PBL with the VARK approach have a higher effect than the PBL model without the VARK approach. However, the PBL models with the VARK approach effect increasing the creative thinking skills.AbstrakPembelajaran yang kurang memberdayakan keterampilan berpikir kreatif tidak memfasilitasi gaya belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem-based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan VARK terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa biologi. Metode penelitian ini kuasi eksperimen. Analisis data menggunakan anakova tunggal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model pembelajaran PBL dengan pendekatan VARK terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif sebesar 0,000 artinya lebih kecil dari 0,05. Ini membuktikan bahwa hipotesis penelitian diterima, artinya penerapan model pembelajaran berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Hasil uji lanjut BNT 5% terhadap perbedaan hasil kedua kelas yakni 86.551 untuk kelas eksperimen dengan penerapan model PBL dengan pendekatan VARK, sedangkan 77,828 untuk kelas kontrol dengan penerapan model PBL tanpa pendekatan VARK. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kreatif yang menggunakan PBL dengan pendekatan VARK memberikan pengaruh lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan model PBL tanpa pendekatan VARK.  Untuk itu model pembelajaran PBL dengan pendekatan VARK berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif.

Abstract

The expected learning outcomes in the 21st century are that students have critical thinking skills. The critical thinking skills are an important requirement to solving problems in life. The material in the Natural Science subject needs to be understood by relying on critical thinking skills, and is relevant to the environment. However, SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sungai Tengah has not been equipped with an optimal learning guide to meet these demands, so a science practicum guide based on critical thinking skills has been developed. This study aims to test the practicality and effectiveness of the developed science practicum guide. Practicality is obtained from student response questionnaires and observations of the implementation of the use of practicum guides, while effectiveness is obtained from the categorization of the N-Gain Test of students' critical thinking skills. The results show: a practical science practicum guide developed with one-to-one evaluation results 97.22% (very good), student responses of 98.57% (positive), and 100% (very good) implementation; and effective with the results of the N-Gain categorization of students' critical thinking skills high for three indicators, and moderate for two indicators.Abstrak Hasil belajar yang diharapkan di abad 21 adalah peserta didik memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis. Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan syarat penting untuk memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupan. Materi dalam mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam perlu dipahami dengan mengandalkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan relevan dengan lingkungan hidup. Namun, di SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sungai Tengah belum dilengkapi dengan panduan belajar yang optimal dalam memenuhi tuntutan tersebut, sehingga dikembangkan panduan praktikum IPA berbasis keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji kepraktisan dan keefektivan dari panduan praktikum IPA yang dikembangkan. Kepraktisan diperoleh dari angket respon peserta didik dan observasi keterlaksanaan penggunaan panduan praktikum, sedangkan keefektifan diperoleh dari kategorisasi Uji N-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Hasilnya menunjukkan: panduan praktikum IPA yang dikembangkan praktis dengan hasi uji perorangan 97,22% (sangat baik), hasil respon peserta didik 98,57% (positif), dan keterlaksanaan 100% (sangat baik). dan efektif dengan hasil kategorisasi N-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik tinggi untuk tiga indikator, dan sedang untuk dua indikator.

Abstract

A cladogram is a matter of the presence or absence of kinship living things in a group. Cladograms are often found in everyday life, but the teacher cannot provide maximum examples to students due to limited time and teaching materials in classroom learning. This study aimed to find motion graphic animation video media for the odd semester X MIPA cladogram material. This research and development research with a 4-D development model (four D) define, design, develop, and disseminate. The data collection technique used a questionnaire with a Likert scale. Validation was carried out by media experts, material experts, and small and large group assessments and trials on students. The study results said that the validation of media experts obtained a percentage of 86.67%. Material expert validation obtained a proportion of 66.67%. The teacher's assessment obtained a percentage of 95%. The response of 10 students of class X MIPA 2 in the small group trial obtained 83.19%. Meanwhile, in the large group trial with a response of 30 students of class X MIPA 1, the proportion was 84.55%. So, the motion graphic animation video of the cladogram material is declared suitable for use in learning.AbstrakKladogram merupakan materi ada atau tidaknya hubungan kekerabatan makhluk hidup di dalam suatu kelompok. Kladogram banyak dijumpai dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, namun karena adanya keterbatasan waktu dan bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran di kelas guru belum dapat memberikan contoh yang maksimal kepada siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji kelayakan media video animasi motion graphic materi kladogram X MIPA semester ganjil. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan model pengembangan 4-D (four D), yaitu define (pendefinisian), design (perancangan), develop (pengembangan), dan disseminate (penyebaran). Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dengan skala Likert. Validasi dilakukan oleh ahli media, ahli materi, dan penilaian pendidik serta uji coba kelompok kecil dan besar pada siswa. Hasil penilaian validasi dari ahli media 86,67%, ahli materi 66,67%, dan guru 95%. Respon dari 10 siswa kelas X MIPA 2 pada uji coba kelompok kecil memperoleh persentase 83,19%. Sedangkan, pada uji coba kelompok besar dengan respon 30 siswa kelas X MIPA 1 memperoleh persentase 84,55%. Maka, video animasi motion graphic materi kladogram dinyatakan layak digunakan untuk pembelajaran.

Abstract

The development of introductory teaching materials for the collaborative science of culture, Islam, and technology is research that produces innovative teaching materials as references for introductory laboratory courses and similar subjects. This study aims to develop teaching materials and validate products by material experts and media experts. The development of teaching materials is carried out in stages: (1) enrichment of teaching materials by laboratory introductory materials in the curriculum of biology, physics, and chemistry study programs, (2) collecting local potential data that can be included and explained in teaching materials according to laboratory introductory materials, (3) explore information related to Islam-science according to the phenomena presented, (4) innovate material content by presenting 3D augmented reality technology which has explained the use and installation of supporting applications, (5) validate teaching materials on material and media aspects, (6) implement teaching materials in the introductory laboratory learning process and or laboratory management in physics, chemistry and biology study programs. This development research stage is in line with the ADDIE model development research. The validation results obtained a percentage of 79% for material experts and 88% for media experts who both belong to the "strongly agree" category to be suitable for use by revising.Abstrak Pengembangan bahan ajar pengantar laboratorium sains kolaborasi budaya, islam dan teknologi merupakan penelitian yang menghasilkan produk bahan ajar inovatif sebagai referensi mata kuliah pengantar laboratorium dan mata kuliah sejenisnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar dan menvalidaasi produk oleh ahli materi dan ahli media. Pengembangan bahan ajar dilakukan dengan tahapan: (1) pengayaan materi ajar sesuai dengan materi pengantar laboratorium pada kurikulum program studi tadris biologi, fisika dan kimia, (2) mengumpulkan data potensi local yang dapat dicantumkan dan dijelaskan pada bahan ajar menyesuaikan materi pengantar laboratorium, (3) menggali infomasi berkenaan dengan islam-sains sesuai pada fenomena yang disajikan, (4) melakukan inovasi konten materi dengan menyajikan tenologi augmentedr reality 3D yang telah dijelaskan penggunaan dan pemasangan aplikasi pendukung, (5) melakukan validasi bahan ajar pada aspek materi dan media, (6) mengimplementasikan bahan ajar dalam proses pembelajaran pengantar laboratorium dan atau manajemen laboratorium pada program studi tadris fisika, kimia dan biologi. Tahapan penelitian pengembangan ini selaras dengan penelitian pengembangan model ADDIE. Hasil validasi diperoleh persentase 79% pada ahli materi dan 88% pada ahli media yang sama-sama termasuk pada ketegori “sangat setuju” untuk layak digunakan dengan melakukan revisi.

Abstract

This android-based learning media which we call the pamplet media (short for Palmae Plant Ethnobotany) is a means to convey palm plant ethnobotany material. The purpose of this research was to produce a practical pamplet media. The palm plants used as learning materials were those found in the Tabanio Forest, Tanah Laut Regency. Three subjects tested the readability with a test instrument in the form of a questionnaire consisting of 18 indicators. For implementation, five observers tested after observing the activities of five subjects with a ten-indicator-questionnaire in order to obtain the implementation of expectations. They did the same to the activities of ten subjects so that the actual implementation was obtained. Student responses were revealed through a ten-indicator questionnaire by five subjects to obtain an expected response and by ten subjects to obtain an actual response. The assessments were carried out with a score which were then converted to a value (%). From the results of the readability test and also the results of the implementation test which were categorized as Very Good and the results of the student responses who Strongly Agree, this pamplet media is quite practical to use, especially for learning the ethnobotany of Arecaceae plants.Abstrak Media-pembelajaran-berbasis-android yang kami namai media pamplet (kependekan dari Palmae Plant Ethnobotany) ini merupakan sarana untuk menyampaikan materi etnobotani tumbuhan palma. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan media pamplet yang praktis. Tumbuhan palma yang dijadikan materi pembelajaran adalah yang ditemukan di Hutan Tabanio, Kabupaten Tanah Laut. Tiga subyek menguji keterbacaan dengan instrumen uji berupa angket yang terdiri atas 18 indikator, Untuk keterlaksanaan, lima observer menguji setelah mengamati aktivitas lima subyek dengan angket (sepuluh indikator) sehingga diperoleh keterlaksanaan harapan. Mereka melakukan hal yang sama terhadap aktivitas sepuluh subyek sehingga diperoleh keterlaksanaan aktual. Respons mahasiswa diungkap melalui angket (sepuluh indikator) oleh lima subyek sehingga diperoleh respons harapan dan oleh sepuluh subyek sehingga diperoleh respons aktual. Penilaian dilakukan dengan skor yang selanjutnya dikonversi ke nilai (%). Dari hasil uji keterbacaan dan juga hasil uji keterlaksanaan yang dikategorikan Sangat Baik serta hasil respons mahasiswa yang Sangat Setuju, media pamplet ini tergolong praktis digunakan, khususnya untuk pembelajaran etnobotani tumbuhan Arecaceae.

Abstract

West Borneo is a province that has abundant biodiversity, based on data from the Central Statistics Agency. So far, education about medicinal plants is presented in the form of physical books. Unfortunately, the data and information about the types of medicinal plants have not been stored and documented properly. The absence of information technology in the form of a database that stores data about medicinal plants and their use causes information about these medicinal plants to be less known to the public. If allowed to continue, the government does not have a regional medicinal plant data center and the public is less familiar with and utilizes regional medicinal plant species, as a result, efforts to preserve medicinal plants as an ancestral medicinal culture will eventually become extinct. This research is the result of a literature study. Then a literature study or literature review is carried out with the data used sourced from scientific journal research and data related to existing research. Where the results of the literature study are the design of an ethnomedical information system in West Kalimantan. The results of a literature search found 85 species representing medicinal plants are still often used today by the Dayak community in West Borneo. The information system is expected to assist the community in knowing local medicinal plants and introducing ethnomedicine as well as a medium for learning local plants.Abstrak Kalimantan Barat merupakan provinsi yang memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang melimpah, berdasarkan data Badan Pusat Statistik. Selama ini pendidikan tentang tanaman obat disajikan dalam bentuk buku fisik. Sayangnya, data dan informasi tentang jenis-jenis tanaman obat belum tersimpan dan terdokumentasi dengan baik. Belum adanya teknologi informasi berupa database yang menyimpan data tentang tanaman obat dan pemanfaatannya menyebabkan informasi tentang tanaman obat tersebut kurang diketahui masyarakat. Jika dibiarkan terus, pemerintah tidak memiliki pusat data tumbuhan obat daerah dan masyarakat kurang mengenal dan memanfaatkan jenis tumbuhan obat daerah, akibatnya upaya pelestarian tumbuhan obat sebagai budaya obat nenek moyang pada akhirnya akan punah. Penelitian ini merupakan hasil studi Metode penelitian ini adalah kualitatif untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan tumbuhan di Kalimantan Barat sebagai obat bagi masyarakat Dayak. Kemudian dilakukan studi kepustakaan atau literature review dengan data yang digunakan bersumber dari penelitian jurnal ilmiah dan data yang berkaitan dengan penelitian yang ada. Dimana hasil dari studi literatur adalah perancangan sistem informasi etnomedis di Kalimantan Barat. Hasil penelusuran literatur ditemukan 85 jenis tumbuhan obat yang masih sering dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat Dayak di Kalimantan Barat hingga saat ini. Sistem informasi ini diharapkan dapat membantu masyarakat dalam mengenal tanaman obat lokal dan mengenalkan etnomedika serta sebagai media pembelajaran tanaman lokal.

Abstract

Digital-based biology learning media is very suitable for learning in the era of globalization, especially in visualizing abstract material. Students are familiar with puzzle games; variations of digital puzzles are required for visualization cell materials. This research focuses on developing and finding learning media in the form of digital cell puzzles to use them to understand learning material that is not boring. The digital puzzle learning media developing with a 4-D development model (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). The developed digital puzzle learning media got value highly for using in learning cell material with assessments from material experts 81.72%, media experts 89.10%, teachers 97.82%. Student responses on the small-scale test (91.90%) and the large-scale test (93.53%) in the criteria are very good or very useful for learning. Digital-based learning such as digital puzzles can be interesting learning in the era of globalization.Abstrak Media pembelajaran biologi berbasis digital sangat cocok digunakan untuk pembelajaran di era globalisasi terutama dalam memvisualisasikan materi yang abstrak. Siswa akrab dengan permainan puzzle; variasi teka-teki digital diperlukan untuk visualisasi bahan sel. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengembangan dan penemuan media pembelajaran berupa digital cell puzzles untuk digunakan dalam memahami materi pembelajaran agar tidak membosankan. Media pembelajaran puzzle digital dikembangkan dengan model pengembangan 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate). Media pembelajaran puzzle digital yang dikembangkan mendapat nilai tinggi untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran materi sel dengan penilaian ahli materi 81,72%, ahli media 89,10%, guru 97,82%. Respon siswa pada tes skala kecil (91,90%) dan tes skala besar (93,53%) dalam kriteria sangat baik atau sangat bermanfaat untuk pembelajaran. Pembelajaran berbasis digital seperti media puzzle digital ini dapat menjadi pembelajaran yang diminati di era globalisasi.

Abstract

Education in the 21st century is required to produce generations who have and master various kinds of skills, one of which is critical thinking skills. Therefore, learning is needed that can prepare students to think critically. One of them is applying local potential-based learning resources developed in popular scientific book teaching materials. This study aims to examine the practicality of the content, the practicality of expectations, and the actual practicality of the popular scientific books developed. The method used is based on Tessmer's formative evaluation design. The results of the research on the readability test obtained results of 87.18% with very good criteria, based on student responses, the results were 89.60% on the practicality of expectations and 92.59% on the actual practicality with very practical criteria, and based on the implementation of popular scientific books that developed which got the results of 92.59% on the implementation of expectations and 96.69% on the actual implementation with a very good category. This result shows that a popular scientific book titled "Types of Plants in the Fabaceae Family with Medicinal Properties in the Banua Botanical Gardens" is very practical to use as enrichment material in the Higher Plant Botany (BTT) course and can improve students' critical thinking skills.Abstrak Pendidikan abad ke-21 dituntut untuk dapat menghasilkan generasi-generasi yang memiliki dan menguasai berbagai macam keterampilan salah satunya adalakah keterampilan berpikir kritis. Oleh karena itu diperlukan pembelajaran yang dapat menyiapkan peserta didik untuk berpikir kritis. Salah satunya dengan menerapkan sumber belajar berbasis potensi lokal yang dikembangkan dalam bahan ajar buku ilmiah populer. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kepraktisan isi, kepraktisan harapan dan kepraktisan actual dari buku ilmiah populer yang dikembangkan. Metode yang digunakan adalah mengacu pada desain evaluasi formatif dari Tessmer. Hasil penelitian pada uji keterbacaan mendapatkan hasil sebesar 87,18% dengan kriteria sangat baik, berdasarkan respon mahasiswa mendapatkan hasil sebesar 89,60% pada kepraktisan harapan dan 92,59% pada kepraktisan aktual dengan kriteria sangat praktis, dan berdasarkan keterlaksanaan buku ilmiah populer yang dikembangkan yang mendapatkan hasil 92,59% pada keterlaksanaan harapan dan 96,69% pada keterlaksanaan aktual dengan kategori sangat baik. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa buku ilmiah populer dengan judul “Jenis-Jenis Tumbuhan Famili Fabaceae Berkhasiat Obat di Kebun Raya Banua” sangat praktis digunakan sebagai materi pegayaan pada mata kuliah Botani Tumbuhan Tinggi (BTT) serta dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze project-based learning videos on biology subjects on YouTube. This type of research is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The object of the research was a real teaching video about project-based learning in biology subjects on YouTube. The  instrument in this research is an observation sheet that contains aspects of the activities carried out in  project-based learning which have been validated by three learning experts. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis, by observing learning videos and evaluating through instrument, then the data is processed and classified into categories. The results of observations of four video real teaching project-based learning in biology subjects on YouTube are in the good and sufficient categories. Each video category is video 1 received a score of 85 which was classified as good category, the videos 2 and 3 scored 71 in the good category, and the video 4 scored 61 in the sufficient category.Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis video pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada mata pelajaran biologi di YouTube. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Objek penelitian berupa video real teaching mengenai pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada mata pelajaran Biologi di YouTube. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa lembar pengamatan yang berisi aspek-aspek kegiatan yang dilakukan dalam pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang telah divalidasi oleh tiga pakar pembelajaran. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif, dengan mengamati video pembelajaran dan dilakukan penilaian melalui instrumen, kemudian data diolah dan diklasifikasikan dalam kategori. Hasil pengamatan terhadap empat video real teaching pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada mata pelajaran biologi di YouTube berada pada kategori baik dan cukup. Masing-masing kategori video yaitu video 1 memperoleh nilai sebesar 85 tergolong kategori baik, video 2 dan 3 memperoleh nilai sebesar 71 tergolong kategori baik, dan video 4 memperoleh nilai sebesar 61 tergolong kategori cukup.
