Abstract

Cultural heritage in an area that is unique is one step in preserving it so that it can be used as a source of learning based on local potential in contextual learning developed in popular scientific book teaching materials. This development research entitled "Ethnobotany of Moraceae Plants Case Study at KHDTK ULM" aims to examine the practicality of the contents of the BIP, the practicality of expectations and the actual of BIP. The method in developing this research is to lead to formative evaluation by Tessmer. The results of the research on the readability test got very good criteria with an average value of 94.23%, in addition, the results of the BIP implementation test with an average value of 95.18% so that it can be grouped into very good criteria and the results of student responses show the average score BIP is 96.15% so it can be grouped into very practical criteria. This shows that a popular scientific book with the title "Plant Ethnobotany Moraceae case study at KHDTK ULM" is very practical to use and attracts students' reading interest in Ethnobotany learning.Abstrak Warisan budaya pada suatu daerah yang bersifat khas yaitu salah satu langkah dalam melestarikannya sehingga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber belajar berbasis potensi lokal dalam pembelajaran kontekstual yang dikembangkan dalam bahan ajar buku ilmiah populer. Penelitian pengembangan ini berjudul “Etnobotani Tumbuhan Moraceae Studi kasus di KHDTK ULM” memiliki tujuan untuk menguji kepraktisan isi BIP, kepraktisan harapan dan aktual BIP. Metode dalam pengembangan penelitian ini yaitu menggarah pada evaluasi formatif oleh Tessmer. Hasil penelitian pada uji keterbacaan mendapatkan kriteria sangat baik dengan nilai rata-rata 94,23%, selain itu, hasil uji keterlaksanaan BIP dengan nilai rata-rata 95.18% sehingga dapat dikelompokan dalam kriteria sangat baik dan hasil respon mahasiswa menunjukan hasil nilai rata-rata BIP yaitu 96,15% sehingga dapat dikelompokan dalam kriteria sangat praktis. Hal tersebut menunjukan bahwa buku ilmiah populer dengan judul “Etnobotani Tumbuhan Moraceae studi kasus di KHDTK ULM” sangat praktis digunakan dan menarik minat baca mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran Etnobotani.

Abstract

The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) learning model that links the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, so that students are given a holistic understanding. Collaboration, cooperation and communication will appear in the learning process because this approach is carried out in groups. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Lesson Plan in improving STEAM-based Science generic skills in the Human Respiratory System material for Class VIII Junior High School. The development of this lesson plan refers to an educational problem solving model which consists of five phases or stages, namely the initial investigation phase, the design phase, the realization phase, the test phase, evaluation, and revision and implementation. Trial of lesson plan products that have been developed and declared valid was carried out in class VIII of SMP Negeri 24 Banjarmasin as many as 16 students. The instrument for collecting data on students' generic science skills was a written test. The results showed that the five aspects of Students' Science Generic Skills include formulating skills problems, formulating hypotheses, designing experiments, analyzing data and making conclusions always increases at each meeting and the value obtained is in the High category. This result is reinforced by the teacher's response with very good category.Abstrak Model pembelajaran STEAM (Sains, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematic) yang mengaitkan bidang ilmu pengetahuan (sains), teknologi, teknik, seni, dan matematika, sehingga siswa diberikan pemahaman holistik. Kolaborasi, kerja sama dan komunikasi akan muncul dalam proses pembelajaran karena pendekatan ini dilakukan secara berkelompok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan generik Sains berbasis STEAM pada materi Sistem Pernafasan Manusia Kelas VIII SMP. Pengembangan RPP ini mengacu pada model pemecahan masalah pendidikan  yang terdiri dari lima fase atau tahapan, yaitu fase investigasi awal, fase desain, fase realisasi, fase tes, evaluasi, dan revisi serta implementasi. Uji coba produk RPP yang telah dikembangkan dan dinyatakan valid dilakukan di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Banjarmasin sebanyak 16 orang siswa.  Instrumen pengumpulan data keterampilan generik sains siswa dengan tes tertulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lima aspek Keterampilan Generik Sains Siswa meliputi  keterampilan merumuskan masalah, merumuskan hipotesis, merancang percobaan, menganalisis data dan membuat kesimpulan selalu meningkat pada setiap pertemuan dan nilai yang diperoleh kategori tinggi. Hasil ini diperkuat dengan respon guru dengan kategori sangat baik.

Abstract

The problem that occurs in the invertebrate zoology course is that there are no innovative teaching materials related to the diversity of crab species. One of them is in the Tabanio mangrove area to explore students' critical thinking skills. This makes it necessary to develop learning resources in popular scientific books containing material with examples from the surrounding or local environment. This study aims to describe the practical of contents, expectations and actual prototypes of popular scientific books on the diversity of crab species. This research uses stages of development through formative evaluation based on Tessmer, which consists of self-evaluation, expert test, individual test, small group test, and field test and also the content practicality assessment instrument too. The results showed that a popular scientific book was declared very valid based on expert validation results with an average of 88,46%, while based on a one-to-one with an average of 92,31%. This popular scientific book is declared practical because student responses 89,29% with criteria of strongly agreeing and the implementation of popular scientific books 90,00% with outstanding criteria. Therefore, this popular scientific book can be used as an enrichment student on the ability to think critically.Abstrak Masalah yang terjadi pada mata kuliah zoologi invertebrata adalah belum adanya bahan ajar yang inovatif terkait materi keanekaragaman spesies kepiting salah satunya di kawasan mangrove Tabanio untuk menggali kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Hal inilah yang membuat perlunya pengembangan sumber belajar berbentuk buku ilmiah popular yang memuat materi dengan contoh-contoh dari lingkungan sekitar atau lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kepraktisan isi, harapan dan aktual prototipe buku ilmiah popular yang berjudul “Keanekaragaman Spesies Kepiting di Kawasan Mangrove Tabanio”. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan tahap-tahap pengembangan melalui evaluasi formatif berdasarkan Tessmer yang terdiri dari evaluasi diri, uji pakar, uji perorangan, uji kelompok kecil dan uji lapangan serta instrumen penilaian kepraktisan  isi juga mengacu pada Tessmer. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli, buku ilmiah popular termasuk kedalam kriteria sangat valid dengan rata-rata 88,46%, sedangkan uji perorangan diperoleh nilai sebesar 92,31%. Buku ilmiah popular ini dinyatakan praktis, karena respons mahasiswa 89,29% dengan kriteria sangat baik dan keterlaksanaan sebesar 90,00% dengan kriteria sangat baik. Oleh karena itu, buku ilmiah popular ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pengayaan terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the skills to have in the 21st century. The realities of learning that are still applying learning teachers-centered, teachers deliver biology as products and learners memorize factual information. Popular scientific books become one of the means that can be used to settle critical thinking skills. In this study developed popular type scientific books and utilization of plant mental in the village official. This study aims to describe the practicality of popular scientific book expectations developed to improve the critical thinking skills of learners. This research is a development research with formative evaluation that uses the design of Tessmer. The subject of research is 7 students learned for practical and effectively tests. The results showed that the popular scientific books developed were categorized as very practical with a percentage of 100% and received a very good response from students with a percentage of 88.9%. The results of the effectiveness of expectations are categorized as high and there is an increase from meetings 1 to 3 with an average percentage of 81.7%. These results indicate that the popular scientific books developed are very practical and effectively used in training high school students' critical thinking skills.Abstrak Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki di abad 21. Realita pembelajaran yang terjadi saat ini masih menerapkan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru yang menyampaikan Biologi sebagai produk dan peserta didik hanya menghafal informasi faktual. Untuk itu, penelitian ini bertujuan guna mengembangkan buku ilmiah populer jenis dan pemanfaatan tanaman jamu di Kampung Pejabat sebagai sarana alternatif untuk student centered learning sekaligus  melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini mengembangkan buku ilmiah populer jenis dan pemanfaatan tanaman jamu di Kampung Pejabat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan evaluasi formatif Tessmer. Subjek penelitian adalah 7 orang peserta didik dengan analisis statistik deskriptif menggunakan uji kepraktisan harapan dan keefektifan harapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan buku ilmiah populer yang dikembangkan terkategori sangat praktis dengan persentase sebsesar 100%dan mendapatkan respon yang sangat baik dari siswa dengan persentase sebesar 88,9%. Hasil keefektifan harapan terkategori tinggi dan terjadi peningkatan dari pertemuan 1 sampai 3 dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 81,7%. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa buku ilmiah populer yang dikembangkan sangat praktis dan efektif digunakan dalam melatihkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMA.

Abstract

This development research aims to describe the popular scientific book Poaceae in the mangrove swamp of the Sungai Bakau Village on students' critical thinking skills. The stages of development include self-evaluation, expert test, individual test, small group test, and field test. The research subjects were five students for the response test and 3 observers for the implementation test of the popular scientific book Poaceae in the mangrove swamp of the Sungai Bakau Village on students' critical thinking skills. The type of data is descriptive data, using BIP implementation instruments and student responses are used for practicality of content and practicality of expectations. Technical data analysis was carried out in accordance with the objectives of the research which included the practicality of BIP. The calculation of the data is done by calculating the total score for each aspect tested and then dividing the total score so that the percentage that shows the practicality of BIP is obtained. The results showed that popular scientific books that had been developed were stated to be very practical based on the BIP individual test with an average of 89.74%. Popular scientific books are declared practical because the results of student responses with an average value of 90.74% with very good criteria, results of BIP implementation on average 92.80% with criteria strongly agree. Based on this, the developed BIP is very practical to use and makes it easier for students to learn.Abstrak Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan buku ilmiah populer Poaceae di rawa mangrove desa Sungai Bakau terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Tahap-tahap pengembangan meliputi evaluasi diri, uji pakar, uji perorangan, uji kelompok kecil, dan uji lapangan. Subjek penelitian adalah lima mahasiswa untuk uji respon dan 3 observer untuk uji keterlaksanaan buku ilmiah populer Poaceae di rawa mangrove desa Sungai Bakau terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Jenis data yaitu data deskriptif, menggunakan instrument instrument keterlaksanaan BIP dan respon mahasiswa digunakan untuk kepraktisan isi dan kepraktisan harapan. Teknis analisis data dilakukan sesuai dengan tujuan dari penelitian yang meliputi kepraktisan BIP. Perhitungan data dilakukan dengan cara menghitung jumlah skor tiap aspek yang diuji kemudian dibagi jumlah skor total sehingga didapatkanlah persentase yang menunjukan kepraktisan BIP. Hasil penelitian menunjukan buku ilmiah populer yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat praktis berdasarkan uji perorangan BIP dengan rata-rata 89,74%. Buku ilmiah populer dinyatakan praktis karena hasil respon mahasiswa dengan rata-rata nilai 90,74% dengan kriteria sangat baik, hasil keterlaksanaan BIP rata-rata 92,80% dengan kriteria sangat setuju. Berdasarkan hal tersebut BIP yang dikembangkan sangat praktis digunakan dan memudahkan mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Innovative and easy-to-understand learning resources for students that contain materials based on local potentials that can improve students' critical thinking skills are still limited. This study aims to describe the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of popular scientific books on butterflies in the mangrove forest area of Sungai Bakau Village on students' critical thinking skills. Step by step of development includes self evaluation, expert trials, individual trials, small group tests, and field tests. Research subjects are 3 bioscientists, 3 students for individual trials and for small group tests, and 15 students for field Innovative learning resources that contain materials tests. The study shows that the popular scientific books that had been developed are highly valid for 96.3%, while individual testing discovered an excellent value to 88.1%. Popular scientific books are practical because students’ responses to 94.7% with highly practicable criteria, the results of the publication of popular scientific books averaged 88.89% by excellent criteria. Popular scientific books that had been developed can be regarded as effective due to increment in students' learning outcomes with an average value to 88.30%. This is categorized as a very good criterion, especially supported by the increment in critical thinking skills up to 0.71 with high criteria.Abstrak Sumber belajar yang inovatif dan mudah dipahami mahasiswa yang memuat materi berbasis potensi lokal dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan buku ilmiah populer kupu-kupu di kawasan hutan mangrove Desa Sungai Bakau terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Tahap-tahap pengembangan menggunakan evaluasi formatif Tessmer yang meliputi evaluasi diri, uji pakar, uji perorangan, uji kelompok kecil, dan uji lapangan. Subjek penelitian adalah 3 pakar pembelajaran biologi, 3 mahasiswa untuk uji perorangan dan uji kelompok kecil dan 15 mahasiswa untuk uji lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan BIP yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat valid dengan nilai 96,3%, sedangkan berdasarkan uji perorangan BIP ini dinyatakan sangat baik dengan nilai 88,1%. BIP dinyatakan praktis karena hasil respon mahasiswa sebesar 94,7% dengan kriteria sangat praktis, hasil keterlaksanaan BIP rata-rata 88,89% denga kriteria sangat baik. BIP yang dikembangkan dinyatakan efektif karena peningkatan hasil belajar mahasiswa dengan rata-rata nilai 88,30% dengan kriteria sangat baik dan peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis sebesar 0,71 dengan kriteria tinggi.

Abstract

The main problem experienced by educators is the lack of innovation in teaching materials that can facilitate students and increase learning motivation in understanding a material so that it is necessary to develop innovative teaching materials, one of which is popular scientific books (BIP). This development research went through several tests such as the practicality of BIP bird species diversity in the Tabanio coastal forest area so that BIP development was obtained which could train students' critical thinking skills. The development stages include self-evaluation, expert test, individual test, small group test, field test. However, this research is limited to practicality tests only. The types of data are descriptive data, using readability instruments, BIP implementation and student responses are used for practicality of content, practicality of expectations and actual. The results showed that the Popular Scientific Book on the Diversity of Bird Species that had been developed was stated to be very practical based on the BIP individual test which was stated to be very good with an average of 83.59%. The Popular Scientific Book on Bird Species Diversity that has been developed is declared practical because the results of student responses with an average score of 92.30% with very good criteria, results of BIP implementation on average 83.33% with criteria strongly agree. Based on this, the developed BIP is very practical to use and makes it easier for students to learn.Abstrak Permasalahan utama yang dialami oleh pendidik yaitu kurangnya inovasi bahan ajar yang dapat memudahkan mahasiswa dan menambah motivasi belajar dalam memahami suatu materi sehingga perlu adanya pengembangan sutau bahan ajar yang inovatif salah satunya yaitu buku ilmiah populer (BIP). Penelitian pengembangan ini didapatkan melalui beberapa uji seperti kepraktisan BIP keanekaragaman jenis burung di kawasan hutan pantai Tabanio sehingga didapatkan pengembangan BIP yang dapat melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis mahasiswa. Tahap-tahap pengembangan meliputi evaluasi diri, uji pakar, uji perorangan, uji kelompok kecil, dan uji lapangan. Akan tetapi, penelitian ini dibatasi hanya uji kepraktisan. Jenis data yaitu data deskriptif, menggunakan instrument instrumen keterbacaan, keterlaksanaan BIP dan respon mahasiswa digunakan untuk kepraktisan isi, kepraktisan harapan dan aktual. Hasil penelitian menunjukan buku ilmiah populer Keanekaragaman Jenis Burung yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan sangat praktis berdasarkan uji perorangan BIP ini dinyatakan sangat baik dengan rata-rata 83,59%. Buku Ilmiah Populer Keanekaragaman Jenis Burung yang telah dikembangkan dinyatakan praktis karena hasil respon mahasiswa dengan rata-rata nilai 92,30% dengan kriteria sangat baik, hasil keterlaksanaan BIP rata-rata 83,33% dengan kriteria sangat setuju. Berdasarkan hal tersebut BIP yang dikembangkan sangat praktis digunakan dan memudahkan mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

The obstacles in the biology learning process are curriculum implementation, syllabus development, competence, material mastery, learning methods, laboratories, learning media, teaching aids, learning evaluation, and learning motivation. This study aims to identify the obstacles faced by teachers in the biology learning process at SMAN 1 Rantau Utara, Labuhanbatu Regency using descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The research data were obtained by distributing questionnaires and interviews with statements about barriers in the study of biology. Data is processed in percentages. The diagram results show high walls from 78% of laboratories, 76% of the curriculum, 70% of methods, media, and evaluation, and 67% of teacher competence. Overall, the data collection results show that with high barriers, obstacles to implementing the biology learning process cover an average of 72%. The results of this study can be used as a reference for teachers in schools, especially biology to design learning activities that further stimulate students' creative processes. In addition, it is hoped that external education stakeholders in Indonesia will focus more on implementing better policies.Abstrak Hambatan dalam proses pembelajaran biologi berupa penerapan kurikulum, pengembangan silabus, kompetensi, penguasaan materi, metode pembelajaran, laboratorium, media pembelajaran, alat peraga, evaluasi pembelajaran, dan motivasi belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hambatan yang dihadapi guru dalam proses pembelajaran biologi di SMAN 1 Rantau Utara, Kabupaten Labuhanbatu menggunakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil data diperoleh dengan menyebarkan kuesioner dan juga wawancara dengan pernyataan tentang hambatan dalam studi biologi. Data diproses dalam persentase. Hasil diagram menunjukkan hambatan  tinggi dari 78% laboratorium, 76% kurikulum, 70% metode, media dan evaluasi, kompetensi guru 67%. Secara keseluruhan, hasil pendataan menunjukkan bahwa dengan hambatan tinggi, hambatan pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran biologi meliputi rata-rata 72%. Hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan acuan bagi guru di sekolah, khususnya biologi untuk merancang kegiatan belajar yang lebih merangsang proses kreatif siswa. Selain itu, diharapkan pemangku kepentingan eksternal pendidikan di Indonesia agar semakin fokus dalam menerapkan kebijakan yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Learning that does not enable creative thinking skills does not facilitate student learning styles. This study aims to determine the effect of the PBL learning model with the VARK approach on the creative thinking skills of Biology students. This research uses quasi-experiment. The research subject was the 58 third-semester of Bachelor’s Degree students in the Department of Biology who took the Plant Physiology course. Data analysis used a single ANCOVA. The results showed that the PBL models with the VARK approach to creative thinking skills were 0.000, which means less than 0.05. These results prove that the research hypothesis is accepted, which means that the application of the learning model has a significant effect on students' creative thinking skills. The results of the 5% on LSD further test for the difference in the results of the two classes were 86.551 for the experimental class using the PBL model with the VARK approach, and 77.828 for the control class using the PBL models without the VARK approach. These results indicate that creative thinking skills using the PBL with the VARK approach have a higher effect than the PBL model without the VARK approach. However, the PBL models with the VARK approach effect increasing the creative thinking skills.AbstrakPembelajaran yang kurang memberdayakan keterampilan berpikir kreatif tidak memfasilitasi gaya belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem-based Learning (PBL) dengan pendekatan VARK terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa biologi. Metode penelitian ini kuasi eksperimen. Analisis data menggunakan anakova tunggal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model pembelajaran PBL dengan pendekatan VARK terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif sebesar 0,000 artinya lebih kecil dari 0,05. Ini membuktikan bahwa hipotesis penelitian diterima, artinya penerapan model pembelajaran berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa. Hasil uji lanjut BNT 5% terhadap perbedaan hasil kedua kelas yakni 86.551 untuk kelas eksperimen dengan penerapan model PBL dengan pendekatan VARK, sedangkan 77,828 untuk kelas kontrol dengan penerapan model PBL tanpa pendekatan VARK. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kreatif yang menggunakan PBL dengan pendekatan VARK memberikan pengaruh lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan model PBL tanpa pendekatan VARK.  Untuk itu model pembelajaran PBL dengan pendekatan VARK berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kreatif.

Abstract

The expected learning outcomes in the 21st century are that students have critical thinking skills. The critical thinking skills are an important requirement to solving problems in life. The material in the Natural Science subject needs to be understood by relying on critical thinking skills, and is relevant to the environment. However, SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sungai Tengah has not been equipped with an optimal learning guide to meet these demands, so a science practicum guide based on critical thinking skills has been developed. This study aims to test the practicality and effectiveness of the developed science practicum guide. Practicality is obtained from student response questionnaires and observations of the implementation of the use of practicum guides, while effectiveness is obtained from the categorization of the N-Gain Test of students' critical thinking skills. The results show: a practical science practicum guide developed with one-to-one evaluation results 97.22% (very good), student responses of 98.57% (positive), and 100% (very good) implementation; and effective with the results of the N-Gain categorization of students' critical thinking skills high for three indicators, and moderate for two indicators.Abstrak Hasil belajar yang diharapkan di abad 21 adalah peserta didik memiliki keterampilan berpikir kritis. Keterampilan berpikir kritis merupakan syarat penting untuk memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupan. Materi dalam mata pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam perlu dipahami dengan mengandalkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, dan relevan dengan lingkungan hidup. Namun, di SMP Negeri 1 Hulu Sungai Tengah belum dilengkapi dengan panduan belajar yang optimal dalam memenuhi tuntutan tersebut, sehingga dikembangkan panduan praktikum IPA berbasis keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji kepraktisan dan keefektivan dari panduan praktikum IPA yang dikembangkan. Kepraktisan diperoleh dari angket respon peserta didik dan observasi keterlaksanaan penggunaan panduan praktikum, sedangkan keefektifan diperoleh dari kategorisasi Uji N-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Hasilnya menunjukkan: panduan praktikum IPA yang dikembangkan praktis dengan hasi uji perorangan 97,22% (sangat baik), hasil respon peserta didik 98,57% (positif), dan keterlaksanaan 100% (sangat baik). dan efektif dengan hasil kategorisasi N-Gain keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik tinggi untuk tiga indikator, dan sedang untuk dua indikator.
