Abstract

This community service activity aims to describe the utilization of Sade Traditional Village as a natural laboratory in field practicum for the Ethnoscience course to strengthen the competencies of prospective physics teachers. The activity was conducted on May 24, 2026, in Sade Traditional Village, Rembitan Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency, involving 109 students from the Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Mataram. The implementation methods included observation, interviews, documentation, cultural phenomenon analysis, and activity evaluation using questionnaires. The observed objects covered traditional weaving production, natural dyeing processes, Gendang Beleq music, Sasak traditional houses, ventilation systems of traditional houses, traditional food and medicine production, rice pounding activities, the Beladukan tradition, and traditional Sasak dances. The results showed that students gave highly positive responses to the field practicum activities. This activity enhanced learning experiences, strengthened understanding of physics and ethnoscience concepts, and supported the development of teacher candidates’ competencies in designing culture-based learning. In addition, students successfully developed ethnoscience-based learning products utilizing Sasak culture as a physics learning resource in the form of worksheets (LKPD) and posters. Thus, Sade Traditional Village has great potential as a natural laboratory that supports ethnoscience learning and strengthens the competencies of prospective physics teachers.

Abstract

The Bukit Cahaya area in Rangsot Hamlet, Sigar Penjalin Village, North Lombok, is managed by KSM Cahaya and has the potential to become an edu-ecotourism area based on natural sustainability. One of the development initiatives is the cultivation of edible flowers (rosella and butterfly pea), which require water-efficient irrigation in the form of drip irrigation, given the water scarcity in the region. However, the knowledge and skills of the management and members of KSM Rangsot in installing and maintaining drip irrigation systems are still inadequate. This community service activity aimed to improve the partners' knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining drip irrigation for butterfly pea and rosella cultivation. The methods used are educational (extension and direct demonstration) and participatory (active involvement of partners in all activities). The results show that this activity successfully improved participants' knowledge and skills regarding drip irrigation techniques through direct knowledge transfer and active involvement, while also opening opportunities for applying similar technology to other commodities in the future. The extension and training activities conducted have proven effective in enhancing the capabilities of KSM Rangsot. Suggestions for future activities include the need for periodic mentoring to ensure consistency in technology application, as well as the addition of drip irrigation application materials for other potential commodities in the Bukit Cahaya area, so that the benefits of the activities are broader and more sustainable.

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that requires active community involvement, particularly from women farmer groups that play an important role in household food management. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the existence and group dynamics of the Panca Warna Women Farmer Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) in supporting stunting prevention through the utilization of local food resources based on green beans in Sembalun Timba Gading Village, Sembalun District, East Lombok Regency. The implementation was carried out through three stages: preparation and coordination, socialization on strengthening the existence and dynamics of the women farmer group, and socialization on stunting prevention and the utilization of local green beans as a nutritious food source. The materials covered the concept of stunting, the First 1,000 Days of Life, the concept of Diverse, Nutritious, Balanced, and Safe (B2SA) food, the role of women farmer groups as agents of change, group dynamics, and the nutritional potential of green beans as a local food resource. Evaluation was conducted using pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed that the average percentage of correct answers increased from 73% in the pre-test to 91.5% in the post-test, indicating an average improvement of 18.5%. The highest increase was observed in the aspect of group business management, which improved by 40%. These findings demonstrate that the socialization program effectively enhanced participants’ knowledge and strengthened the role of the women farmer group as a driver of local food education and community-based stunting prevention.

Abstract

Stunting remains a serious chronic nutritional challenge in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. This community service activity aims to improve the nutritional literacy of Panca Warna Women Farmers Group (KWT) members in Bantek Hamlet, Sembalun Timba Gading Village, Sembalun District, in stunting prevention through the utilization of local green bean-based food. The method used is community education with a participatory approach through socialization, training, and group discussions. An initial knowledge assessment was conducted on 19 KWT members using a 10-item multiple-choice pretest covering stunting, the role of KWT, green bean potential, flour processing technology, and product marketing. Pretest results showed an average score of 8.47 out of 10. A total of 73.7% of respondents scored ≥8, indicating strong baseline knowledge. Key weaknesses were identified in group management and nutrition-based product marketing. This activity is expected to strengthen the institutional capacity of KWT as a local actor in reducing stunting prevalence.

Abstract

The main problem faced by the Aikmual Livestock Group is the limited availability of quality feed on a sustainable basis, especially during the dry season. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of farmers in utilizing agricultural waste as Total Mixed Ration (TMR) feed. The methods used included counseling, practical training (demonstration plots), and mentoring in implementing TMR. The results showed an 85% increase in farmers' understanding based on pre- and post-tests. Farmers were able to formulate TMR based on local waste and apply it to Etawa crossbred goats. The implementation of TMR improved feed palatability and farmer work efficiency.
