Abstract

Keywords: Genealogi, Pesantren, Multikulturalisme, Toleransi

Abstract

Abstract

During this time, the conversation about revelation in monotheistic religions (Jews-Christians-Islam) has always been dominated by dogma which leads to subjetivity and truth claims. As a result, discussions concerning the dogmas of each religion do not find a meeting point or are unlikely to be able to enrich even the insight. This happens because a layer of understanding has become a dogma and is believed to be a truth that cannot be criticized. In that context, Arkoen conducted criticism by using contemporary methods and approaches (history, thought and language) to see the condition of the book society which had been dominated by an understanding of revelation that was very polemic. Through a contemporary social science approach, Arkoun encourages the birth of a society that promotes critical rationalism. This community must understand the position of revelation from the first level to the fourth level. Arkoun also encouraged the realization of an open society, all opened and dialogue without feeling overwhelmed by dominant understanding and classical history. Book community dialogue is still limited, followed by three monotheistic religions, but efforts to realize this society must fulfill several basic prerequisites. First, make an effort to rethink old concepts of religion and society towards an era of new thinking based on historical solidarity and social integration. Secondly, reforming thought from exclusive theological thinking towards radical criticism without concessions to "religious reason" as it functions in all traditions of religions. Third, it should not be trapped and fall into scholastic debates, namely "religious reason" and "enlightenment sense".Keywords: Revelation, Arkoun, Book, Religious Reason, Discourse

Abstract

The religion particularly Islam has a considerable influence on the politics and governmental system in a country generally. But of course the role of Islam in politics and government will be different when Islam as the majority religion compared when Islam became a minority religion. It becomes interesting to be explored further, so as to see concrete evidence the authors determined to compare the dialectic of Islam in the politics and government in Indonesia and Thailand. The results of research showed that there is a significant imbalance between the role of Islam in Indonesia and Thailand for politics and government. In Indonesia since the struggle until independence era, the Muslim leaders and activists are aware that in order to improve the condition of the country, it takes a political struggle to deal with attempts to obtain power to influence government and public policy making. This can be evidenced by the existence of Islamic party or Islamic mass-based party from the first general election to date. In addition, at the level of government the role of Muslim activists and scholars are also greatly affected. Instead, in Thailand show that Islam has a small portion in politics and government. This is evidenced by the lack of political access and opportunity to participate in the governmental system. Even in a particular regime, Muslims get very discriminatory treatment. Like as in the administration of Prime Minister Phibul Songkhram and Thaksin Shinawatra. This condition is supported by the prevailing political system in Thailand, where the authority of the regime is absolute and inviolable. As an impact, insurgents groups in Southern Thailand namely National Revolution Row (BRN) and Pattani United Liberation Organization (PULO) continued to express special autonomy. With the special autonomy it is expected that the conflict in Southern Thailand will subside.

Abstract

This article describes three points about Pesantren modernization development. First: pesantren as Islamic educational institution that has an old tradition in Indonesia has more diversification and differentiation today.  One of the forms of that diversification is pesantren becoming academic sub-culture that supports scientific works. Second: this category is very affecting the Kyai role as the leader of pesantren and having academic capacity and reputation at the same time at University in some certain discipline of science. The author takes Pesantren Baitul Hikmah in Yogyakarta as the sample. In this part, the author gives the description of Pesantren Baitul Hikmah's educational process, advantages, and its curriculum. Pesantren Baitul Hikmah has the advance in the field of interpretation of the Qur'an and Hermeneutic as its device. Third, the author attempts to use the significance of hermeneutic analysis as developed at the pesantren for developing interpretative religious research. Keywords: Pesantren; Academic Sub-culture; Hermeneutics; Kyai

Abstract

In advocacy, women need to be identified so that we can attribute a role to their level. The judgment of the thing is part of his conception, which makes the knowledge of women's reality a priority. When we follow the evolution of women's life long ago to this day, we find that it is doomed. The role of women in advocacy: First and before I go on the subject must understand what is the area of advocacy that we want women to do it? Yes, it is the whole society, because this role can only be achieved if the society is included, whose life revives the nation and dies. When he says: "Believers and believers, some parents of some enjoin the good and end the evil and believe in God," he means what he says, because the knowledge of Virtue and Prevention of Vice can not be achieved only in the open society, which makes women contribute to the role of men. And the role of women in the reform of society, which is called the Holy Quran, which sees good and forbidding evil is no doubt and can not be denied only Makbar. The gift of the Holy Prophet in social life is conclusive evidence that Muslim women were present alongside men and at all levels. Here I am compelled to shorten some of the evidence that shows the constant and continuous presence in the life of the Prophet and after him in the open ages, which represented the finest era throughout Islamic history. Keywords: Women, Advocacy, Islam

Abstract

This paper seeks to address Erdoğan’s transnational repression towards Turkish citizens and Gülen-linked schools in Indonesia which are denounced as part of Fethullahçı Terör Örgütü/Fethullah Gülen Terror Organization (FETÖ)’s most vital source of funding. It is argued that the AKP-ruled government effectively transferred political hostilities from authoritarian Turkey to democratic Indonesia in micro-level targeting Turkish Gülenist teachers and other Hizmet Movement adherents.  In exercising extraterritorial coercive acts, the regime relied on institutional outposts such as the embassy, consulate, and mission. These proxy regime institutions played an agressive role in the repression of the Turkish diaspora, including active surveillance, nationality deprivation, and intimidation of the dissent’s family members. They also have tried to shut down, take control, or take over nine Indonesia’s Gülen-linked educational institutions to The Maarif Foundation (TMF). Nevertheless, in this meso-level (the Gülen Movement as a transnational network), The Turkish Government have failed to purge Gülen-linked schools whose their cooperation with PASIAD—which is associated with FETO—was terminated in 2015. Employing qualitative approach and data combined with content analysis, this study contributes in explaining Erdoğan regime’s coercive power across border which meets its middle power counterpart. One of the more significant findings to emerge from this study is that extraterritorial repressive acts were hindered by the national law and sovereignty of political opponents’ host country.        Keywords: transnational repression, authoritarianism beyond state, Gülen Movement, Indonesia’s Turkish schools
