Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital communication practices of Popolo Coffee on Instagram and to design a human-centered storytelling model as a strategic framework for strengthening brand positioning on social media.. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method was employed in this study. Data were collected through observation of Popolo Coffee's Instagram content, semi-structured interviews with the owner, marketing communication, and barista, as well as digital documentation consisting of content archives and post screenshots. The findings reveal that Popolo Coffee has implemented a human-centered storytelling approach through daily life content, barista activities, and customer interactions presented in a natural and organic manner; however, content management has been conducted intuitively without a formally documented strategic guideline. Analysis using the AIDA model indicates that Popolo Coffee's content is effective at the attention and interest stages, but remains suboptimal at the desire and action stages.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the engagement rate (ER) gap between Influencer Generated Content (IGC) and Firm Generated Content (FGC) on the Instagram account @meccafriedchicken.id in September 2025 through consumer perceptions. This study uses a descriptive method with a descriptive qualitative approach and a constructivist paradigm. Research data were collected through literature studies, text observations of the Instagram account @meccafriedchicken.id, and semi-structured in-depth interviews with external and internal informants, as well as specialists. The results show that the reason behind the ER gap is that consumers find IGC more appealing because it combines visual and audio stimuli simultaneously. Therefore, consumer perceptions are formed through the visual appearance of the product, the influencer's communication style, and the comprehensive delivery of information. This study concludes that content type and influencer presence significantly influence the process of forming consumer perceptions of a brand on social media

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of TikTok Affiliate features as a monetization medium by beauty content creators, particularly on the account @sheylanada. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects consist of one key informant and three supporting informants who actively use TikTok Affiliate. The results indicate that TikTok Affiliate is effective as an additional source of income in the digital era, supported by marketing communication strategies based on the AIDA concept (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) and content marketing theory. Creators utilize various features such as sound, hashtags, shopping links, and audience interaction to increase engagement and encourage purchasing decisions. Furthermore, honest product reviews, content consistency, and soft selling approaches play an important role in building audience trust. TikTok Affiliate can be considered a potential monetization strategy for beauty content creators.

Abstract

The rapid growth of TikTok as a digital communication platform has encouraged beauty brands to utilize social media to build brand image and strengthen audience engagement. Beautetox, a local beauty brand, uses the TikTok account @beautetox to introduce its no-rinse scrub product through educational and interactive content. This study aims to analyze how the TikTok account @beautetox is used to build the brand image of no-rinse scrub products in Indonesia. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with five active followers of the TikTok account @beautetox, content observation during January–March 2025, and documentation studies. The analysis used Social Information Processing (SIP) theory and Chris Heuer's 4C concept (context, communication, collaboration, and connection). The findings show that informative product demonstrations, audience interaction through comments, and user testimonial content play an important role in shaping positive audience perceptions. Beautetox is perceived as a practical beauty brand with a distinctive product identity. The study concludes that TikTok can function as an effective communication medium in building brand image within the beauty industry.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how female gamers construct their self-concept and negotiate gender in the virtual space of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), which is dominated by masculine values. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, the study involved seven female informants who are active Mobile Legends players in Surabaya. Findings indicate that female gamers' communication patterns are selective and contextual, shaped by social relationships and perceived safety. Gender-based violence—including stereotypes, skill delegitimization, verbal harassment, and sexual harassment—constitutes a major barrier to female participation. In response, female gamers employ various gender negotiation strategies: concealing identity through neutral usernames, avoiding voice chat, selecting non-feminine heroes, and adapting to toxic environments. Self-concept is formed through two components: cognitive (reflexive awareness of alternative virtual identity) and affective (emotional evaluation of social recognition and self-esteem). The study is grounded in the Proteus Effect theory, Ting-Toomey's Identity Negotiation Theory, and Butler's Gender Performativity Theory

Abstract

The digital transformation era compels corporations to shift their communication paradigms from one-way dissemination to interactive engagement. This study aims to analyze the use of Instagram as a corporate communication strategy for PLN Icon Plus in building brand awareness, utilizing Luttrell's Circular Model of SOME and Aaker's Brand Awareness Pyramid. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with the Manager of Corporate Communication & CSR, staff journalists, and visual designers, complemented by systematic observations of the @pln.iconplus Instagram account. The results indicate that PLN Icon Plus has applied the SOME cycle in a structured manner: the Share and Manage stages are executed through rigorous agenda-setting and account consolidation; the Optimize stage involves hook strategies and digital identity visualization; and the Engage stage is realized through personalized interaction and complaint channeling. A key finding reveals that within the B2B corporate communication context, organic views are considered more significant than conventional engagement metrics. This conclusion is derived from Instagram Insights data, which demonstrates a broader strategic reach among stakeholders, further validated by informant justifications regarding the priority of corporate narrative dissemination. Theoretically, this study proves that disciplined social media management is a primary determinant in elevating a brand's position toward top of mind.

Abstract

The development of social media in digital marketing communication has encouraged skincare brands to utilize storytelling content as a persuasive communication strategy. However, studies on the application of the AIDDA theory in storytelling content on the TikTok platform are still limited. This study aims to analyze the digital marketing communication strategy through storytelling content on the TikTok account @amurabeautycare based on the AIDDA theory (Attention, Interest, Desire, Decision, Action). This research used a descriptive qualitative method with purposive sampling techniques and data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation of 4 storytelling contents during the January–April 2026 period. The results show that storytelling content consistently applies the AIDDA stages and forms a communication strategy based on audience experience with a problem–solution–result pattern. This strategy is strengthened through a soft selling approach and emotional triggers. In conclusion, storytelling content is effective in building emotional closeness, trust, and encouraging audience action

Abstract

The Huma Betang symbol among the Dayak community in Central Kalimantan has undergone a significant shift in meaning during the Post-Reform era, driven by modernization, cultural globalization, and the rapid growth of digital media. This study critically examines the limitations of Ferdinand de Saussure's structural semiotics in accounting for the evolving dynamics of meaning negotiation within contemporary cultural realities. The research employs an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative design, drawing on in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving traditional leaders, cultural practitioners, and members of the Dayak community. The analysis is grounded in Saussurean semiotics and cultural communication perspectives. Findings reveal that the meaning of Huma Betang is not static; rather, it is continuously negotiated through social interaction, generational change, and digital communication. Saussurean semiotics proves limited in addressing the fluid, contextual, and ideologically laden nature of cultural meaning. This study proposes Dynamic Structuralism — a semiotic extension that incorporates contextual, temporal, discursive, and interpretive dimensions of cultural meaning — thereby offering a more adaptive reading of cultural communication in understanding local symbols amid social transformation.

Abstract

This study examines how Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Bogor City uses YouTube to disseminate public information in an increasingly digital media landscape. A qualitative descriptive approach was adopted, with informants selected through purposive sampling; data were gathered via interviews, observation, documentation, and direct field participation. Results show that the channel carries informational, educational, and institutional content in audiovisual form. According to YouTube Analytics, the Podcast Ruang Suara playlist led all playlists at 71% of total playlist performance, and the channel drew roughly 1,800 unique users each month. Content is managed across four stages — planning, production, publication, and evaluation — yet two persistent problems undercut the operation: a shortage of dedicated personnel and irregular upload schedules. These findings suggest that YouTube holds real strategic value for RRI Bogor City's public information mandate, provided the institution commits to steadier, more purposeful content management going forward.
