Abstract

English language skills is becoming increasingly vital in today's globalized world. Proficiency in vocabulary is essential for language acquisition since it improves students' conversational abilities and academic achievement. The purpose of this study is to assess the impact of educational English videos in promoting vocabulary acquisition among primary school pupils in Moramo. The study was conducted with one class of 16 grade five pupils at SDN 8, Moramo. Using a one-group pretest-posttest design that included 15 numbers of the pre-test. Data analysis revealed that the mean post-test score exceeded the mean pre-test score, with averages of 7.18 for the pre-test and 9.43 for the post-test. Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test showed an improvement of 2.25 points in student performance after the test. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a significance value of 0.00 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant difference between before and after the treatment. Therefore, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted, meaning the use of English educational videos significantly improved vocabulary achievement among primary school students in Moramo.

Abstract

Students with intellectual disabilities have intellectual limitations that affect their ability to understand concepts, including self-cultivation skills such as purification (thaharah). Thaharah is an important part student of religious education that needs to be taught to support students' independence in everyday life. However, conventional learning is often less effective in delivering fiqh material to students with intellectual disabilities because of its abstract and difficult to understand nature. Therefore, appropriate, fun, and innovative learning methods are needed. The Learning by Games method was chosen as an approach that can increase student engagement, help them understand the material more concretely, and create a pleasant learning atmosphere. The purpose of this study was to explore the implementation of this method in improving self-cultivation skills in students with intellectual disabilities. The study was conducted with a qualitative approach using a multi-site case study design at SLBN Demung Besuki and SLB Dharma Wanita Situbondo. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data presentation, and verification). The results of the study showed that the Learning by Games method, through various types of games such as video games, puzzles, board games, roles, and footprints, was able to improve understanding and practice of independent purification. This method also has a positive impact on student interaction, attention, and skill development in learning

Abstract

Metacognitive awareness is essential in fostering students' ability to regulate their own learning processes, especially in complex subjects like analytical chemistry. This study investigates the effectiveness of a Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Blended Learning in enhancing metacognitive awareness among university students in the topic of UV-Vis spectroscopy. Using a quasi-experimental design, two groups were compared: an experimental group receiving PBL combined with Blended Learning, and a control group receiving conventional PBL. Data collection involved pretest and posttest cognitive assessments, metacognitive awareness questionnaires, and observation of student engagement on the Edmodo platform. The results demonstrate significant improvement in the experimental group’s posttest cognitive scores (mean = 85.59) compared to the control group (mean = 77.37), with effects also observed in metacognitive awareness and self-regulation skills (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that integrating Blended Learning into the PBL framework can effectively enhance cognition, metacognitive skills, and student motivation in chemistry education. The study encourages the adoption of this blended instructional strategy and further research on its wider applicability.

Abstract

Microteaching serves as a scaled-down teaching practice platform designed to hone fundamental instructional skills among preservice primary teachers. Delivering physical education at the primary level demands specialized competencies distinct from other subjects, given its inherent movement-based nature and outdoor implementation requirements. This study examines the readiness of preservice primary teachers to teach physical education through microteaching activities. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, we analyzed physical education microteaching assessment data from 28 preservice primary teachers (February-May 2025), evaluating eight core teaching competencies. Results revealed a tripartite competency distribution: High Achievers (16 students): Demonstrated comprehensive mastery of essential microteaching skills, including creative lesson delivery and adaptive classroom management. Intermediate Performers (10 students): Exhibited foundational competence but required refinement in questioning techniques, time management, and instructional transitions. Developing Practitioners (2 students): Showed significant gaps in lesson preparation and teaching confidence, necessitating targeted intervention. The findings underscore two critical implications for teacher preparation: First, most candidates achieved teaching readiness through structured microteaching experiences, validating its efficacy in skill development. Second, the identified competency gaps—particularly in pedagogical content knowledge and self-efficacy-highlight the need for differentiated training approaches. This research emphasizes the indispensable role of microteaching in equipping future elementary teachers with the unique skill set required for effective physical education instruction

Abstract

The matriculation program serves as a crucial step in assisting new students in understanding and adapting to the academic environment of higher education, particularly for those coming from diverse educational backgrounds. This study aims to explore the perceptions of new students participating in the Indonesian language matriculation program concerning the implementation of the program and its impact on their preparedness for attending classes. A survey was conducted with 39 students using a questionnaire that included various aspects such as the atmosphere, instructor guidance, course materials, and teaching methodologies. The survey results indicate that the majority of respondents hold a positive view towards the matriculation program. Specifically, 39% of students agreed or strongly agreed that the matriculation atmosphere was enjoyable. Furthermore, 74% of students felt that the guidance provided by lecturers and tutors was effective, 62% agreed that the materials taught were useful, and 69% stated that the content was relevant to their academic needs. The majority also concurred that the matriculation program aided them in preparing for their studies. The conclusions drawn from this research suggest that the matriculation program successfully provided the support necessary for new students to prepare for their academic journey. However, there is a need for increased variation in teaching methods and the relevance of materials to adequately meet the needs of all students. Recommendations for program administrators include the regular evaluation and updating of curriculum content and teaching methods in the matriculation program to better accommodate the diversity of participants' educational backgrounds

Abstract

Technological advancements in the digital era have significantly transformed human civilization, particularly in the way families interact and practice parenting. In Indonesia, these changes have become increasingly complex due to the growing access children have to the internet and digital devices from an early age. This phenomenon presents new challenges for parents, such as exposure to negative content, gadget addiction, reduced social interaction, and a digital literacy gap between parents and children. This study aims to explore in depth the dynamics of parenting in the digital era within the Indonesian context. The research employs a descriptive-qualitative approach, referring to various relevant national and international literature sources. Findings indicate that many parents still face confusion in setting boundaries and supervising their children’s digital activities, while others have begun to adopt more adaptive and digitally literate parenting approaches. This article also proposes several strategies that parents can implement, such as strengthening family communication, utilizing digital monitoring tools, and continuously enhancing their technological knowledge. With proper understanding and approach, parents in Indonesia can become effective partners in guiding their children to navigate the digital age safely, healthily, and with dignity.
