Abstract

This research focuses to produce learning material of science lesson for Junior High School at the eighth grade in the topic of mirror using guided discovery learning method. This research consists of three steps with design one group pretest-posttest. Analyze data by using descriptive analyze N-Gain, T-Test, and ANOVAs one way. The results of this research are learning material of lesson what have been developed, generally, in the good category. Implementation of lesson plan is good. More student activities are making hypothesis, writing identification of variables and doing experiment to each group are 9.9%, 9.8%, and 9.8%. The result of research showed that average N-Gains for each indicator of critical thinking skill are middle category. That is cleared of inferential analyzes t-Test what showed that there is significant differences between pretest and posttests on the result of critical thinking skill tests and  tests of lesson, include of analyze by ANOVAs one way.. The other results are that based on analyzes of maximum criteria completeness (KKM), guided discovery learning method gives influence of result student cognitive test for three groups which is complete. The response of students to instruction with guided discovery learning method is good. Based on the result of research, conclusion of this research is the instruction of physics or science by using guided discovery learning can develop critical thinking skill and complete results of student cognitive lesson. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA fisika siswa SMP kelas VIII pada sub materi cermin dengan metode (guided discovery). Penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 tahap dengan rancangan menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design. Analisis data dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif N-Gain, T-Test, dan Anava Satu Jalur. Temuan dari hasil penelitian ini yaitu perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan secara umum berkategori baik. Keterlaksanaan RPP berkategori baik. Aktivitas siswa yang dominan adalah membuat hipotesis, menuliskan identifikasi variabel-variabel percobaan  dan melakukan percobaan untuk setiap kelompok berturut-turut adalah 9.9 %, 9.8%, dan 9.8%. Hasil penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa Ngain rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kritis berada pada kategori sedang. Temuan lain bahwa berdasarkan tinjauan KKM, metode pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing juga memberikan pengaruh pada penguasaan konsep siswa untuk ketiga kelompok berada pada kategori tuntas. Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan metode guided discovery dinilai baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA fisika dengan metode guided discovery dapat melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMP serta mampu menuntaskan penguasaan konsep kognitif siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to produce science instructional sets Guided Discovery Model Assisted Microscope Simple to facilitate science process skills and students’ understanding concepts. The instructional sets developed are Syllabus, Lesson Plans, Worksheets, Simple Microscope Media, Science Process Skills Test, and Concepts Understanding Test. This type of research is the instructional sets development research. The  instructional sets development model used is the instructional sets development of 4D Model. The experiment of instructional sets was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Losari Brebes by using One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The instruments used in this study were the validation sheets of instructional sets, the observation sheets of the  implementation of Lesson Plans, the students’ activities, the assessment sheets of  science process skills and concepts understanding, the observation sheets of attitude and the questionnaires. Data analyzing technique used were descriptive analysis of quantitative and qualitative. The result of this research shows that the instructional sets developed are valid and can be used. The implementation of instruction are 100% done with very good category done. The most dominant of students’ activity is doing observation/investigation using simple microscope. Science process skills and students’ concepts understanding increases by value of N-Gain at middle category. The positive response of students towards the instruction is 86% with very strong category. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that the instructional sets with Guided Discovery Assisted Simple Microscope are feasible (valid, practical, and effective) to use to facilitate science process skills and students’ concepts understanding

Abstract

This research aims to study the effect of inquiry learning by critical thinking practice followed by a conceptual change efforts to reduce misconceptions on acid-base learn. The research design using one-group pretest-posttest design with students of SMAN 2 Ngawi as sample research. The student conception  status finding by knowing concept (TK), not knowing concept (TTK), and misconception (MK), whereas intensity of misconception be analized by CRI. Results and analysis of research data found that there is a shift in conception after inquiry learning p rocess. Based on Wilcoxon’s signed rank test, the T value of test TK, TTK, and MK is less than T table at α = 0.05 , so it was concluded that inquiry learning increase TK and decrease TTK and MK. The influence of inquiry learning for understanding the influence was strengthened by the results of the t test tests before and after understanding the concept of inquiry learning that indicate a significant difference.  t-test results on tests of critical thinking before and after the inquiry learning also showed a significant difference. Inquiry learning can not reduce all of misconceptions. Reduction step again is with conceptual change. Based on Wilcoxon’s signed rank test was concluded that conceptual change learning can reduce misconception significantlyPenelitian ini bertujuan mempelajari pengaruh pembelajaran inkuiri terbuka disertai latihan berpikir kritis yang dilanjutkan dengan conceptual change sebagai upaya mereduksi miskonsepsi pada materi asam basa. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini menggunakan metode one group pretest-postest design dengan subyek penelitian  siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Ngawi. Profil konsepsi siswa dinyatakan dengan status tahu konsep (TK), tidak tahu konsep (TTK), dan miskonsepsi (MK), sedangkan intensitas miskonsepsi diperoleh dari hasil analisis CRI jawaban siswa.  Hasil dan analisis hasil tes pemahaman konsep menemukan bahwa terjadi pergeseran konsepsi setelah proses pembelajaran inkuiri terbuka. Berdasarkan wilcoxon’s signed rank test diperoleh T hitung untuk semua status TK, TTK, dan MK kurang dari nilai T tabel pada α = 0,05 dan n = 25, sehingga   disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran inkuiri meningkatkan jumlah TK dan menurunkan TTK dan MK.  Pengaruh pembelajaran inkuiri terhadap pemahaman konsep serta kemampuan berpikir kritis diketahui dari uji t hasil tes pemahaman konsep serta tes berpikir kritis sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran. Hasil uji t pada α = 0,05 menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan pemahaman konsep serta kemampuan berpikir kritis antara sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran inkuiri. Miskonsepsi yang masih tersisa setelah pembelajaran inkuiri direduksi kembali dengan strategi   conceptual change. Berdasarkan wilcoxon’s signed rangk test disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran conceptual change dapat mereduksi miskonsepsi secara signifikan.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to develop appropriate biology instruction materials for the pilot international standard junior high school students, and  2)  to describe the implementation results of the developed biology instruction materials for the pilot international standard junior high school students.  Instructional materials consisted of the lesson plans, the student’s worksheet, the student’s book and the achievement test were developed by implementing reciprocal teaching approach. Research subject for the first implementation of  the developed biology instruction materials was twelve students and the second implementation was  twenty-three students of The Pilot International Standard Junior High School 1 Ngoro Mojokerto. Research Design for the implementation was one group pretest-postest design. The instructional materials had been validated and the results showed that  the instructional materials were appropriate to be implemented.  Observations were made during the implementation of the teaching and learning materials and the results showed that the teaching learning activities were consistent with the instructional implementation plans.  The implementation results showed that all of the students involved were able to meet the minimum competency standard prescribed by the school.  Students activities were dominated by pointing out  important conceps of the text  and asking questions. Most of the students gave positif respons to the instructional process.  So, it could be concluded the developed biology instruction materials for the pilot international standard junior high school students by implementing reciprocal teaching approach for the topic human breathing system were effective to achieve the prescribed competency.Penelitian ini bertujuan: 1) mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran biologi SMP RSBI yang layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran, dan 2) mendeskripsikan hasil penerapan perangkat pembelajaran biologi SMP RSBI.  Perangkat pembelajaran dikembangkan dengan  berorientasi pendekatan reciprocal teaching  pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia. Subyek penelitian adalah perangkat pembelajaran yang terdiri dari rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran, buku ajar, lembar kegiatan siswa dan tes hasil belajar.  Subyek penelitian pada tahap ujicoba satu  adalah 12 siswa dan ujicoba dua adalah 23 siswa SMPN 1 Ngoro Mojokerto.  Penerapan perangkat pembelajaran pada saat ujicoba, menggunakan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest design.  Hasil validasi menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan adalah layak untuk  digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Tingkat kesulitan dan keterbacaan buku ajar dan lembar kegiatan siswa berkategori sedang dan tepat untuk pembelajaran. Hasil penerapan perangkat pembelajaran menunjukkan bahwa keterlaksanaan pembelajaran berkategori baik, aktivitas siswa selama pembelajaran didominasi oleh aktivitas menyampaikan konsep penting suatu bacaan dan mengajukan pertanyaan.  Hasil belajar siswa menunjukkan bahwa semua siswa tuntas pada ujicoba satu dan dua. Sebagian besar siswa  memberikan respon yang positif terhadap  pembelajaran. Disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran biologi SMP RSBI berorientasi pendekatan  reciprocal teaching pada materi sistem pernapasan manusia, efektif meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to describe students’ concept mastery, creative thinking ability, profile of creative attitudes, and the correlation between creative thinking ability and concept mastery after implementing 5E Learning Cycle model. This research was the mixing of the quasy experiment with one group pre test-post test design and correlational study, which initiated by teaching materials development using the Dick & Carey model. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Mojosari involving students of IPA-2 grade XI as subject. Instruments used in the research were teaching materials’ validation sheets, leson plan activity observation sheet, mastery concept sheet, creative thinking ability sheet, creative attitude observation sheet, and students’response questionaire. The data analyses of students’ concept mastery, creative thinking ability, and profile of creative attitudes were descriptively done, while analysis of correlation between creative thinking ability and concept mastery were using Pearson’s product moment correlation technique. Based on the data analysis, it could be described that results of the reasearch were (1) the students’ concept mastery and creative thinking ability on the salt hydrolysis topic after implementing 5E Learning Cycle model had reached high gains, (2) the creative attitudes appeared during the implementation of 5E Learning Cycle model including curiosity in engagement phase, complexity in exploration phase, curiosity in explanation phase, risk-taking in elaboration phase, and risk-taking in evaluation phase were good, each had frequency more than 75%, and (3)  there was a very strong and significant correlation between creative thinking ability and concept mastery. The conclusion of the research was chemistry learning on the salt hydrolysis topic using 5E Learning Cycle model had improved the students’ concept mastery and creative thinking ability. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penguasaan konsep, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, profil sikap kreatif dan hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan penguasaan konsep siswa setelah implementasi model 5E Learning Cycle. Penelitian ini merupakan gabungan dari penelitian eksperimen semu jenis one group pre test-post test design dan penelitian korelasional, yang diawali pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan model Dick & Carey. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Mojosari dengan subyek siswa kelas XI IPA-2. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah lembar validasi perangkat pembelajaran, lembar pengamatan keterlaksanaan RPP, lembar penilaian penguasaan konsep (LPPK), lembar penilaian kemampuan berpikir kreatif (LPKBK), lembar pengamatan sikap kreatif, dan angket respon siswa. Analisis data tentang penguasaan konsep, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, dan profil sikap kreatif siswa dilakukan secara deskriptif, sedangkan analisis hubungan antara kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan penguasaan konsep dilakukan menggunakan teknik korelasi product moment Pearson. Berdasarkan analisis data dan pembahasan, dapat dipaparkan hasil penelitian ini yaitu (1) penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada topik hidrolisis garam setelah mengimplikasikan model 5E Learning Cycle telah mencapai gain tinggi, (2) sikap kreatif siswa pada implementasi model 5E Learning Cycle yaitu curiosity pada fase engagement, complexity pada fase exploration, curiosity pada fase explanation, risk-taking pada fase elaboration dan risk-taking pada fase evaluation adalah baik, masing-masing mempunyai frekuensi lebih dari 75%, (3) ada hubungan yang sangat kuat dan signifikan antara berpikir kreatif dan penguasaan konsep. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran kimia pada materi pokok hidrolisis garam dengan model 5E Learning Cycle telah meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan berpikir kreatif siswa.

Abstract

This research was aimed at develope science learning materials using scientific approach with problem solving model on temperature and heat to complete junior high school students’ achievement in 2013’ curriculum setting that were valid, practical and effective so its are feasible to use in science learning on temperature and heat topic. This materials was developed using 4-D model that reduced into 3D (without dissemination) and tested in the seventh grade students A, B and C of SMP Negeri 5 Batang, academic year 2015/2016. The data collection technique used is the validation of the device, observation, testing, and questionnaires. Analized from knowledge students’ achievement got N-Gain average in high cathagory with average value of each class A, B, and C (0,80, 0,84, and 0, 86) the impact of learning on the three classes were tested by Anova (Analisis of varians), significance level of 0,05 Farithmetic ≤ F table meaning there is no difference in the impact of learning in three classes, a consistent value. Achievement in attitude, and skills competencies each was categorized good. The research concludes that the scientific approach to science learning with problem solving models are decent (validity, practicality, and effectiveness) are used in learning. Thus the mastery of teachers in managing learning is necessary so that the learning objectives be achieved with good and running smoothly. Penelitian pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA pendekatan saintifik dengan model problem solving pada materi suhu dan kalor untuk menuntaskan hasil belajar Siswa SMP Mengacu Kurikulum 2013 yang layak (valid, praktis dan efektif). Pengembangan perangkat yang digunakan mengikuti model four-D yang direduksi menjadi 3D (tanpa dissemination) dan diujicobakan pada siswa kelas VII.A, B, dan C SMP Negeri 5 Batang Tahun Ajaran 2015/2016. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah validasi perangkat, observasi, tes, dan angket. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat yang dikembangkan telah layak (valid, praktis, dan efektif). Hasil belajar kompetensi pengetahuan kategori N-Gain tinggi dengan nilai rata-rata tiap kelas A, B dan C (0,80, 0,84, dan 0,86), dampak pembelajaran pada tiga kelas diuji dengan Anova (analisis of varians)pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 menghasilkan F hitung ≤F tabel, artinya tidak ada perbedaan dampak pembelajaran pada tiga kelas, bernilai konsisten. Kompetensi sikap, dan keterampilan masing-masing berkategori baik, Respon siswa positif terhadap pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA pendekatan saintifik dengan model problem solving adalah layak (kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan) digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Dengan demikian penguasaan guru dalam mengelola pembelajaran sangat diperlukan agar tujuan pembelajaran tercapai dengan baik dan berjalan lancar.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to develop learning instruments of science through Contextual Approach using problem solving model which are reasonable to increase critical thinking skills of students. Learning Instruments are developed using 4-D model with one group pretest-posttest design. The Learning Instruments are tested at 74 students class VIII MTs Negeri Bonde Majene Regency West Sulawesi Province third semester 2016/ 2017 school Year for measuring application of lesson plan, hindrances during learning process, result of learning which is critical thinking skills of students, and respons of students to the learning instruments developed. Data Collection uses validation method, observation, testing, and questionnaires. The data of this research are analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively description. Finding of the research result, namely: (1) Instrument Validity including lesson Plan, Text book of students, activity sheets of students, test instruments of critical thinking indicated valid; (2) practically learning instruments are obtained from: (a) application of Lesson plan categorized by 95.23% with excellent category, and (b) obstacles during learning process; and (3) affectivity of learning instruments in terms of : (a) critical thinking skills of students through ­n-gain with higher category over 0.7 (Hake, 1999), and (b) the respons of students to the instruments and application of learning are very good. Based on the result of data analysis, can be concluded that learning instruments of science through Contextual Approach using problem solving model are feasible to increase critical thinking skills of students.

Abstract

One of the skills that must be possessed in the 21st century is the ability to think creatively. This study aims to apply student worksheets (LKPD) to improve creative thinking skills through guided inquiry learning models. The research method used a quantitative descriptive method where only one class was used without a comparison class with a one-group pretest-posttest research design. The instruments used were observation sheets of guided inquiry implementation, student activities, knowledge test sheets, creative thinking skills test sheets, and student response questionnaires. The research results obtained data: (1) The implementation of guided inquiry learning models at the first and second meetings went well with a percentage of 97.72% and 98.71%. (2) The percentage of relevant activities is higher than in irrelevant activities. (3) The learning outcomes of the knowledge test and the creative thinking skills test increased as evidenced by the N-gain value on the knowledge test of 0.79 with the high category and the creative thinking skills test of 0.77 with high criteria (4) The results of the response of students showed a response positive as evidenced by the results of the classical questionnaire percentage of 87.3% with the very good category. This shows that learning by applying guided inquiry-based LKPD is effective for improving students' creative thinking skills on the sub-material factors that affect the rate of reaction.

Abstract

This research aims to produce the teaching materials based on  science cooperative Group Investigation model which is valid, practical, and effective to facilitate the students’ decision making skill. The development of teaching material used the 4-D model  and was implemented in 7th-B grade of SMPN 6 Surabaya in the first  semester of  2015/2016 by using the Pre-Experimental One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The data collection used validation, observation, quetionnaires, test, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis.The results of this research are:(1) Teaching material developed to be use consisted of Syllabus, Lesson Plan, Book, Student Worksheet and Test of student learning outcomes are valid; (2) The practicality of teaching material categorized in terms of: (a) The teaching materials categorized in  feasibility of lesson plan, (b) The legibility of the student book;(c) The constraints encountered obstacles during the implemantion and (3) The teaching material effectiveness in terms of: (a) Improving students’ learning decision making skill by getting gain score in medium category; (b) Improving students’ learning achievement by getting score in medium catagory; (c) The students give a positive responses toward teaching material and implementation of teaching material developed . Thus, teaching materials based on science cooperative Group Investigation model are valid, practical, and effective to facilitate the students’ scientific decision making skill in VII grade of Junior High School. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan perangkat pembelajaran IPA model kooperatif tipe Group Investigation yang valid, praktis dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam mengambil keputusan. Pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan model 4-D  dan diujicobakan di Kelas VII-B SMPN 6 Surabaya pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dengan One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode validasi, observasi, angket, dokumentasi, dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: (1) Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan meliputi Silabus, RPP, Bahan Ajar Siswa, LKS, dan Lembar Penilaian berkategori valid; (2) Perangkat pembelajaran berkategori praktis ditinjau dari: (a) Keterlaksanaan RPP, (b) Keterbacaan bahan ajar siswa, (c) Kendala-kendala yang dijumpai selama proses KBM; serta (3) Perangkat pembelajaran telah efektif ditinjau dari: (a) Peningkatan nilai keterampilan siswa dalam mengambil keputusan siswa dengan perolehan skor n-gain pada kategori sedang, (b) Peningkatan nilai pengetahuan dengan perolehan skor n-gain pada kategori sedang, (c) Siswa merespon positif perangkat yang dikembangkan dan implementasinya. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran IPA model kooperatif tipe Group Investigation yang digunakan valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan siswa dalam mengambil keputusan di kelas VII SMP

Abstract

Integration of teaching subject of plant structure into plant function using nested model aimed to improve student thinking skills when they are receiving information with high interconnection causing cognitive load. To facilitate the thinking skills especially on either inductive or deductive are  required a learning model that can decrease cognitive load  when the students receiving information caused by the teaching method  (extranous load). This research using pre-experimental method with One Group Pre test – Post Test design. Participants of this study were 22 students have took Plant Anatomy Course in previous semester. There are two main data collected in this study, qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were gathered using documents collected from student tasks. Quantitative data were collected using paper and pencil test containing 30 items test measuring students’ reasoning skills about plant physiology comprehensively. The result shows that after learning using nested type student  thinking  skills  were  increased  especially in inductive  reasoning.  Most  students  had  thinking  skill  and analysis information skill categorized by good criteria. The reasoning skills of 68 % students had categorized by good criteria and only 32% of students had reasoning skills belong to sufficient criteria.  The experiment design skills of 65% students were be affiliated with good criteria. We found that no more than 35% students should be guided during they do the tasts covering experimental design skills.Integrasi Struktur pada Fungsi Tumbuhan  menggunakan model  nested  bertujuan untuk  meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir  mahasiswa. Model  ini  diperlukan  pada  saat  mahasiswa  menerima informasi dengan interkoneksi tinggi,  yang  dapat menimbulkan    beban  kognitif. Untuk  memfasilitasi keterampilan berpikir  terutama penalaran baik  induktif maupun  deduktif diperlukan  adanya  model  pembelajaran  yang  dapat  menurunkan  beban  kognitif  pada  saat  mahasiswa  menerima  informasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pre test – Post Test. Subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 22 mahasiswa yang telah mengikuti mata kuliah Anatomi Tumbuhan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan secara kualitatif dan  kuantitatif. Data kualitatif dikumpulkan dari tugas mahasiswa pada saat melakukan  analisis informasi dan angket untuk mengetahui beban kognitif  mahasiswa pada saat menerima informasi ketika implementasi pembelajaran. Data kuantitatif dikumpulkan dari hasil tes penalaran yang terdiri dari 30 soal pilihan berganda beralasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada keterampilan berpikir terutama penalaran induktif  setelah diterapkan pembelajaran model nested. Sebagian besar mahasiswa memiliki keterampilan berpikir dan menganalisis informasi dengan kategori baik. Kemampuan penalaran  mahasiswa  sebesar  68  %  termasuk  dalam  kriteria  baik  dan  32%  termasuk   dalam   kriteria   cukup. Kemampuan merancang  eksperimen  mahasiswa sebesar 65% termasuk dalam kriteria baik. Hanya 35% mahasiswa yang masih memerlukan bimbingan dalam mengerjakan tugas-tugas yang terkait dengan keterampilan merancang penelitian.
