Abstract

Education has now entered the 21st Century education. In order to survive in the 21st century, various skills are needed, including the 4C skills which consist of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, creativity and innovation, collaboration, and communication. Critical thinking ability is one of the 21st Century Skills that must be possessed by students. The purpose of this study was to determine the critical thinking skills of students at SMAN 2 Padang. The type of research used is descriptive. The population in this study consisted of all class X students of SMAN 2 Padang for the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample in this study was 50 students of class X at SMAN 2 Padang. The technique of determining this sample is done by simple random sampling technique. The instrument used is a validated critical thinking skills questionnaire. Data analysis used descriptive analysis. From the research results obtained in this study, it shows that the critical thinking skills of class X students of SMAN 2 Padang are classified as very low. This is shown from the acquisition of the percentage of critical thinking skills score 5 (very high) which is 9.77%, score 4 (high) is 6.44%, score 3 (enough) is 16.44%, score 2 (low) is 32, 22%, and a score of 1 (very low) which is 35.11%.

Abstract

The type of this research is Quasi-Experimental Design. This research aim is whether there are differences in the cooperative model of talking chips and snowball throwing on student learning outcomes in biology subjects in class VIII in Bina Baru Hamlet, Wadukopa Village, Bima Regency. The purpose of this study was to find out the differences between talking chips and snowball-throwing learning models on student learning outcomes in the material for the human respiratory system for class VIII in Bina Baru Hamlet, Wadukopa Village, Bima Regency. The population in this study were all eighth-grade students in Bina Baru Hamlet, Wadukopa Village, Bima Regency as an experimental class using talking chips and snowball throwing learning models and control classes. The sampling technique in this study was a Quasi-Experimental Design. The instrument used to collect data is a test of learning outcomes in the form of multiple-choice questions, observation sheets, and lesson plans and the data collected is a type of quantitative data. The average learning outcomes of class students using the talking chips cooperative learning model and the snowball throwing type cooperative learning model of 81.6. This is shown from the significance value of the t-test of ˂ 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using the talking chips model with snowball throwing on the learning outcomes of class VIII students in Bina Baru Hamlet, Wadukopa Village, Bima Regency on the material of the human digestive system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of mobile phones in learning biology among students in Suralaga village, Suralaga sub-district, East Lombok district. The focus of the research includes: (1) the effect or impact of the use of cell phones, (2) the intensity and time of using cell phones, and (3) the application of the use of cell phones in learning biology. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The population in this study was 120 students, and the sample of respondents in this study was 36 students, consisting of three levels of education, namely elementary, junior high, and high school. The results showed that mobile phones were very influential in making it easier for students to find new learning methods. The impact of using cell phones includes: helping students to work on assignments and adding insight into science, social interaction, and student environment becoming ignorant of each other, cellphone addiction causes students to concentrate less on learning, forget time, and feel annoyed if someone interrupts him playing his cellphone. Students are said to be cellphone addicts because they use cell phones for a long duration, the intensity of using cellphones in a day is up to ≥ 6 hours day and their use is more often used in the afternoons – evenings, the application form of using cellphones in learning biology is looking for Latin terms, looking for videos biology learning and so on

Abstract

Education has a broad meaning and an important role. One of the efforts teachers can make to improve education is to use a good and proper medium of study so that learners can readily understand biological material. The study aims to develop a learning medium of antibiotics that can serve as a supplement to the bioprocess of cells. The study uses a 4-D model of development limited to three stages define, design, and development. Research data is qualitative and quantitative. Validation results obtained a valiance value of 85.33% with very valid criteria. The result of the learner's response test is 82.19% with very positive criteria and the teacher's response test is an average of 90.34% with very positive criteria. It may thus be concluded that the compounds developed are so valid and so practical as to merit their use as a visual supplement.

Abstract

Based on the results of the questionnaire distributed to students and teachers at SMAN 2 Sawahlunto, it was found that the biological material that is considered difficult is virus material. The cause of the difficulties experienced by students is the material that is abstract and the language of the book used is difficult to understand. The media used in schools are PowerPoint and LKPD (student worksheets), but students still need other media to be able to help students understand virus material well. The purpose of this research is to produce interactive multimedia based on adobe flash that is valid and practical. This type of research is development research using 3 stages of the 4D development model, namely the definition stage, the design stage, and the development stage. The subjects of this study consisted of two biology lecturers, FMIPA UNP, and 1 biology teacher at SMAN 2 Sawahlunto as validators and practicalities by 30 students and 1 biology teacher at SMAN 2 Sawahlunto. Based on the research conducted, the resulting product is in the form of interactive multimedia based on Adobe Flash about virus material for class X SMA. The results of the validity test show that the interactive multimedia produced is valid with an average value of 85.41% and practicality results with an average value of 92.18% by teachers and 86.84% by students, so both are categorized as very practical. Based on this, it can be concluded that the developed interactive multimedia is valid and practical.

Abstract

STEM is a learning approach that integrates science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This approach was introduced by NSF (National Science, Foundation) in 1990 with the aim of forming the next generation who fulfills the abilities of the 21st century, one of which is the ability to think critically. It is important for students to develop critical thinking skills to make students think rationally in solving a problem, and collect information using examination and reasoning methods to make a decision or an action. The average level of critical thinking of students has various percentages. The purpose of this study was to examine the results of implementing the STEM approach in biology learning from 10 relevant articles and their relationship to students' critical thinking skills. The type of research used is a meta-analysis with a literature review research method using several data sources such as articles in electronic journals and books. The results showed that the application of the STEM approach influenced increasing students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood marked by physical and psychological changes. One of the physical changes in the occurrence of secondary sex changes, namely menstruation. Knowledge of health behavior during menstruation is important to form correct health behavior during menstruation. The problems that arise are the knowledge of female students about menstruation varies, the lack of understanding of female students in maintaining body and genital hygiene during menstruation, and the lack of understanding of students in maintaining diet and exercising during menstruation. This was obtained from the results of observations by distributing questionnaires to female students of class XI science. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and health behavior about menstruation of students at SMAN 3 Padang Panjang. This research is descriptive research. The population of this study was all students of class XI science at SMAN 3 Padang Panjang in the 2020/2021 academic year. The research sample amounted to 61 people with the saturation sampling technique. The research instrument used a knowledge test and a health behavior questionnaire. The results showed that knowledge of menstruation and the health behavior of students was included in the sufficient category with an average of 50 and 64, there was a positive and significant correlation between knowledge and health behavior of students in class XI with a value of r = 0, 460; the coefficient of the t-count value is 3.9792, which is greater than the t-table coefficient, which is 2.00100. So it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between knowledge of menstruation and the health behavior of students at SMAN 3 Padang Panjang.
