Abstract

The age of menstruation has shifted to a younger age if the first period begins before reaching 12 years old. Early menstruation in young girls can be caused by obesity, which is a result of excess fat intake. Consuming foods rich in fat can lead to increased fat storage in the body when not utilized as an energy source, subsequently elevating leptin hormone levels. This study aims to determine the impact of obesity on the occurrence of early menstruation among female students at SMP Negeri 4 Watampone, Kabupaten Bone. The utilized method is quantitative, employing a Cross-Sectional design. The population for this research consists of all female seventh-grade students at SMPN 4 Watampone, Kabupaten Bone, totaling 108 individuals. The sample size selected based on inclusion criteria was 47 respondents. The findings of this study indicate that out of 30 respondents with normal Body Mass Index (BMI), 27 respondents (90%) experienced menarche at the age of 12, and 3 respondents (17.6%) experienced menarche between the ages of 9 and 11. Additionally, among 17 respondents with excessive BMI, 3 respondents (10%) had menarche at the age of 12, while 14 respondents (82.4%) experienced menarche between the ages of 9 and 11.The analysis results reveal a significant correlation between obesity and the prevalence of early menstruation (ρ = 0.000, ρ < 0.05). Therefore, it is recommended that the school authorities enhance students' knowledge regarding the importance of nutrition and maintaining a healthy adolescent lifestyle. This information should be sourced from various reliable channels, including both teachers and healthcare professionals in the field of reproductive health..

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of impaired growth and development in children that can result in morbidity, mortality, and motor development impairment. The occurrence of stunting is often associated with malnutrition. Jember is a regency with the highest prevalence of stunting in East Java in 2020. Socioeconomic status, such as parental education level and occupation, can influence access to adequate nutrition and healthcare, which in turn contribute to the risk of stunting. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between socioeconomic status and the occurrence of stunting among children aged 12-60 months in Kaliwates Community Health Center. This study employed a quantitative approach with an analytical observational design and a cross-sectional study design. The study population consisted of 580 children. The sampling technique used in this study was Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling, calculated using the Issac and Michael formula, resulting in a sample of 58 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with statistical tests using Chi-Square. The Chi-Square test results indicated a significant relationship between fathers' occupation (p = 0.003), mothers' occupation (p = 0.000), fathers' education (p = 0.001), mothers' education (p = 0.000), and the occurrence of stunting among children aged 12-60 months in Kaliwates Community Health Center. To prevent and address the occurrence of stunting among children in Kaliwates Community Health Center, it is important to provide balanced nutrition education, improve access to nutritious food, regularly monitor children's growth and development, involve the community, strengthen parental roles, and conduct regular program monitoring and evaluation.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains Indonesia's leading infectious disease. Hepatotoxicity is the most common side effect of TB first-line medication therapy in TB patients. GSTM1 and GSTT1 are glutathione S-transferase (GST) genes involved in the detoxification of various toxic compounds such as drugs. The development of fast and simple methods for null genotyping of GSTM1/GSTT1 could facilitate large pharmacogenetic studies and the clinical application of personalized drug dose adjustment according to the patient's genetic profile. The aim of this research was to develop a multiple PCR method for simultaneous amplification of GSTM1/GSTT1 genes for molecular analysis. A total of 25 samples of TB patients were used to validate the method consisting of TB patients with hepatotoxicity and without hepatotoxicity. Our result showed the genotype frequency of the GSTM1 null genotype was 90% in TB patients with hepatotoxicity and 100% in TB patients without hepatotoxicity. The frequency of the GSTT1 null genotype in TB patients with hepatotoxicity was 90%, whereas in TB patients without hepatotoxicity was 80%. The sequencing results on the positive samples showed a similarity of 99% to the GenBank NCBI. Our study was successful in detecting GSTM1 and GSTT1 null genotypes using the multiplex PCR method in TB patients. Further study needs to be done with larger sample of TB patients.

Abstract

Due to the known benefits and nutritional content of date seeds, the use of date seeds is not yet widespread. Date palm seeds can be processed into decaffeinated date coffee, making it safe for general consumption, and its iron content helps overcome anemic problems. The study aims to determine the sensory results and nutritional content of iron in date coffee. This research method uses a true experimental design with a post-test-only control group design that is analyzed descriptively. The study was conducted in three ways: product development stage, acceptance test, and laboratory iron nutrient content test. As a result of the sensory test, color preference was 36.0%, flavor preference was 28.0%, texture preference was 44.0%, and taste preference was 40.0%. Iron nutrient content test results were determined per 100 grams of date coffee powder with an iron content of 42.5 mg. Based on the overall sensory results of date coffee, it is generally acceptable in terms of color, aroma, texture and taste. In addition, it meets the requirement for "High Iron" under the standards of the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

Abstract

The prevalence of anemia in Indonesia has been increasing every year. The causes of anemia during pregnancy include factors such as gestational age, pregnancy spacing, adherence to iron tablet consumption, and economic status. This study aims to analyze the risk factors for anemia in pregnant women in the Pitu Health Center area of Ngawi Regency. The research uses a descriptive analytic approach with a case-control design. The sampling technique employed is purposive sampling, with a total of 34 subjects in the case group and 34 subjects in the control group. Data analysis was conducted using three methods: univariate analysis with frequency distribution, bivariate analysis with chi-square tests, and multivariate analysis with logistic regression. The results of the univariate analysis indicate that adherence to iron tablet consumption is still low in the case group (33.5%). The bivariate analysis shows that gestational age has a p-value of 0.446, pregnancy spacing has a p-value of 1.000, adherence to iron tablet consumption has a p-value of 0.003 (OR=5.250), and economic status has a p-value of 0.031 (OR=4.060). Through multivariate analysis, it was found that adherence to iron tablet consumption (OR=5.050) has the most significant association with the occurrence of anemia in pregnant women. In conclusion, this research suggests that there is an influence of iron tablet consumption on the occurrence of anemia in pregnant women in the Pitu Health Center area of Ngawi Regency. Pregnant women who do not adhere to iron tablet consumption are 5.2 times more at risk of anemia compared to pregnant women who adhere to iron tablet consumption.

Abstract

Job fatigue is the leading cause of job-related accidents and illnesses among construction worker who operate in physically and psychologically demanding situations. Job stress is one of the elements that contribute to job fatigue. Job stress and work fatigue-related emotional symptoms significantly influence worker job satisfaction. This study aimed to discover the link between job stress and fatigue in construction worker. A cross-sectional study design was employed for the research, with 30 participants drawn using the total sampling methodology. This type of primary data was gathered by distributing questionnaires in April 2023. Work stress was evaluated using the Work Stress Diagnostic Survey questionnaire in line with Permenaker No. 5 of 2018, while work Fatigue was measured using the IFRC's Subjective Self Rating Stress questionnaire. The frequency distribution test was used to examine data univariately, while the Chi-Square test was used to analyze data bivariately. The findings revealed that the majority of respondents (63.3%) had a low level of fatigue, with the variables related to work fatigue being quantitative overload (p=0.009) because workers need to carry out measurements and mark exact locations, and project managers need to calculate the estimated time for various stages of work, and career development with (p=0.047) because the construction sector has a rigid structure, where promotion is seen as a result of education and work experience There is no correlation between job fatigue and role ambiguity, role conflict, qualitative overload, and obligation to others. It was shown that quantitative overload and professional advancement are linked to fatigue in construction workers.

Abstract

Anemia is one of the indirect causes of Postpartum Hemorrhage (HPP) during childbirth. The development of iron supplement alarm reminders can be used as an alternative intervention to increase awareness and consumption of iron supplements as a preventive measure against HPP. This study aims to analyze the Effect of Alarm Usage on Awareness in Consuming Iron Supplements (Hemoglobin Levels) as a Prevention of HPP in the Working Area of the Tempurejo Community Health Center, Jember Regency. The research employs a one-group pre-post-test design (pre-experiment) with a cross-sectional approach involving 30 respondents through Accidental Sampling. Data collection includes coding, editing, tabulation, and subsequent manual and computer-based analysis using Paired T-Test. Among the 30 respondents, the awareness of taking iron supplements before using the alarm showed non-compliance in 22 respondents (73.3%) and compliance in only 8 respondents (26.7%), with all 30 (100%) pregnant women experiencing anemia, either moderate (73.3%) or mild (26.7%). After the alarm was used, the number of respondents aware and compliant in taking iron supplements increased to 27 respondents (90%), with only 3 respondents (10%) remaining non-compliant. This was also indicated by an increase in normal Hb levels in 18 respondents (60%). The P-value was 0.000 and a = 0.05, meaning r < a, indicating the influence of alarm usage on awareness in consuming iron supplements (hemoglobin levels) as a preventive measure against HPP. This is crucial for pregnant women to regularly consume iron supplements for safe and healthy childbirth. Midwives should consistently remind pregnant women to consume a minimum of 90 supplements during pregnancy and adapt to technological advancements by using gadgets familiar to the community

Abstract

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has set a target to increase exclusive breastfeeding up to 80%. However, this policy has not yet obtained optimal results. Based on data from the Indonesian Health Profile, the coverage of babies who receive exclusive breastfeeding in 2020 is only 66.1%. This is due to several obstacles in exclusive breastfeeding, namely: lack of socialization of the lack of exclusive breastfeeding and the support of health workers, especially midwives, is still considered lacking. This type of research is descriptive quantitative using a cross sectional approach. The population of this study were postpartum mothers in Jember Regency. The number of samples studied was 30 respondents using a purposive sampling technique that met the inclusive criteria, namely: postpartum mothers 1 to 6 weeks, and able to operate android mobile phones. For the exclusion criteria, namely; Postpartum mothers who experience breast problems/abnormalities; and mothers who live in difficult signal areas. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS statistics and Fisher's Exact Test with an alpha value of 5%. The results obtained for the type of delivery were that there was no significant relationship between the type of delivery and the success of exclusive breastfeeding mothers with a value of p = 0.140 (OR = 3.5; 95% CI 0.43-28.13). While the results for the support of health workers who carried out the Fisher's exact test showed that there was a significant relationship between the support of health workers and the success of mothers in exclusive breastfeeding with a value of p = 0.007 (OR = 0.83; 95% CI 0.12 - 5.5). Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the need for understanding for mothers regardless of the type of delivery does not affect the success of breastfeeding and the need for support from health workers, especially midwives in helping mothers to successfully breastfeed their babies.
