Abstract

The global average sea level is rising at a rate of 3.2 mm per year according to recent observations of the IPCC. One of the main factors in sea level rise is thermal expansion, where greenhouse gases, especially CO2, accumulate and generate heat (climate change), thereby melting glaciers in the polar regions. Two villages in Kampung Bungin Bekasi, Indonesia, have already been experiencing flooding. Climate change can be addressed by environmental conservation and utilization of renewable energy to reduce CO2 production. Environmental conservation can be conducted by planting mangroves, while renewable energy is achieved by using natural renewable resources. Planting 10,000 mangrove seeds through citizen participation and by researchers from the University of Indonesia could create a new coastal ecosystem, which could prevent abrasion and become the habitat of sea biota. Renewable energy based on wind power and solar cell such as wind turbines and photovoltaics (PV) has been installed and used for streetlights, mosque lamps, and freezers. The wind turbine used in this study is made from wood, which is easy to obtain, and is designed to be compatible with the characteristics of Bungin Village, with a capacity of 500 Wp per unit. The total capacity of PV is 1800 Wp, which includes 720 Wp floating PV capacity and 1080 Wp PV monocrystalline capacity. Floating technology is chosen because the coastal areas have limited available land and the soil condition (sand) is inappropriate as a foundation for PV. The installed renewable energy is integrated and completed with a battery system and online monitoring to monitor the site in real time anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

Geothermal energy is a naturally occurring energy resource widely distributed in Indonesia. By 2025, the Indonesian government is expecting a rise in renewable energy installations to supply energy demand within the country. With 1,945 MW of installed capacity reported in 2017, the electricity production from geothermal power plant are expected to meet such electricity demand. Indonesia holds a large potential in geothermal energy with the possibility to meet the energy demand due to population growth. However, geothermal energy faces a challenge when competing with national LCOE. The role of government to create policy and stakeholder to provide technical aids are vital to attract investors to develop environmentally friendly and sustainable geothermal energy.

Abstract

One of the urgent environmental issues that are encountered by densely populated cities today is climate change and Urban Heat Island (UHI) which are increasing significantly. In the development of outdoor spaces or urban public spaces, there are environmental issues that affect the comfort of human activities. Meteorological, physiological, and psychological parameters affect the thermal comfort of humans doing their activities outdoors. Walking as one of the outdoor activities, in terms of urban design, there is not much mention of climate factors in identifying the success of outdoor space design. Walkability, the comfort level of walking is one of the parameters that many researchers discuss in the context of activity studies related to outdoor activities. This study aims to further review the development of literature relating to the urban microclimate, thermal comfort to walkability, especially in high-density tropical cities.

Abstract

Turkey is a member of the NATO military alliance since 1952, as a member of NATO, cooperation between Turkey and Russia invites counterparts from other NATO alliance countries. But even with criticism, Turkey continues purchasing S-400 from Russia . Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors that support Turkey's policy on purchasing S-400.This research is a descriptive research through internet-based literature.Turkey's policy in purchasing S-400 analyzed using the concepts of Arms, Alliances and Security Tradeoffs proposed by James D. Morrow. James stated that there are three factors that influence the state to conduct arming; economic & military technological factors, the lack of alliances effectiveness and differences in national interests between alliances. This study found that all of these factors occurred in the conditions of Turkey and NATO. With fulfillment of these three factors, Turkey chose to do arming instead of alliancing in facing national threat

Abstract

December 2019 marks a change in the perception of security itself because the enemy is invisible in the form of a virus that can endanger human survival. In this article, the author wants to discuss changes in the perception of "threat" in security from a "visible" threat to an "invisible" threat. Library research was used by the author in this article. The author uses three concepts as the development of security, namely traditional security concept, non-traditional security concept, and national security concept to analyze the case. The findings show that invisible threat in the form of virus or pandemic does not need military readiness as in traditional security. It rather needs a good healthcare system as part of the national resilience of a country in facing threat.

Abstract

The rise of Japan after the defeat in World War II became the center of world admiration, including us in Indonesia. Human resources development through education has become the main key to the success of Japan. This certainly can be a reference for us in formulating human resources development policies in the future. We often feel amazed at the seriousness of the Japanese government in dealing with education problems. However, we also tend to ignore various facts related to it. For example, after the defeat of the war, Japanese academics and bureaucrats immediately conducted introspection and research to find out the cause of the defeat. From the results of this research, it was concluded that there were fatal errors in education policies and philosophies so far; departing from this understanding, a significant revision of the education law was immediately carried out. In other words, the Japanese government not only pays attention to education but they also completely overhaul educational policies. Japan lost the war against the United States. Consequently, for the following 7 years, 1945-1952, Japan was occupied by the United States of America, who had ordered Japan to change all policies, including educational policies. In this paper, we will look at what changes in the philosophical foundation and policy changes, as well as how the discussion process until the formulation and enactment of several new education laws, and what criticisms and expectations are implied in the education law.

Seeing the number of Muslim which dominates by 82% in Indonesia while funding nominal of Islamic bank is still low when compared to conventional bank, through this research, the author raises the theme consumer psychology to analyze its influence on the intention of Indonesian Muslims to use Islamic bank funding product. Respondents in this research are Indonesian Muslims who are not customer of Islamic bank with a total of 450 respondents. Then the data collected was analyzed using Multiple Linear Regression model. The result shows that motivation, perception, learning, beliefe and attitude partially have an influence on the intention to use Islamic bank funding product, and then motivation, perception, learning, beliefe and attitude simultaneously have a significant influence on the intention to use Islamic bank funding product. The ability of independent variables in explaining dependent variable is equal to 69.7%. The conclusion of this research is in understanding banking consumer behavior, it can not only be seen from an economic perspective, but another perspective that needs to be directly targeted at feelings that will shape the patterns of consumer behavior, namely consumer psychology. Islamic banking must pay attention to consumer policies both in conducting products and in marketing their products. In addition, regulators also need to prioritize consumer psychology in policy making.

Abstract

The growing centers of global power such as NATO, the European Union, China and India have different civilizational and cultural characteristics. Post-Soviet Russia is indeed in a relatively weak position in economic terms. Although Russia's relations with the European Union and the United States had improved after the Cold War, it did not have a significant impact on Russia's economic growth. In recent years Russia and other major powers have not only strengthened the economy and security related to the military, but have gone far beyond that to strengthen the country's influence. This is what makes the superpower countries compete in making policies that ultimately affect the world political and economic situation. This study examines Russian political policy towards NATO, Europe and Ukraine from the perspective of security and economic interests. The method used is qualitative by conducting an in-depth study of data obtained from the results of previous studies. The results of this study show that Russia, America and Europe through NATO occupy a strong position that has the ability to influence agreements and include the national interests of their country. Each country is trying to achieve their respective interests by making efforts to increase national power. National Power includes various elements, namely military power, economic and political power.
