Abstract

This study aims to compare the length of stay of mental disorder patients who receive non-specialist and specialist therapy at RSJMM. The method used is quantitative with a comparative method. The results showed that the length of stay of specialist therapy patients was 16.03 ± 2.945 days, with a median of 17 days, the shortest length of stay was 3 days, and the most extended length of stay was 21 days. The length of stay of non-specialist patients was 16.98 ± 2.81 days, with a median of 17 days; the shortest length of stay was 6 days, and the most extended length of stay was 28 days. The Mann-Whitney test (p of 0.015 <0.05) showed a significant difference in the average length of stay between patients who received specialist and non-specialist nursing services. In conclusion, specialist nurses better understand patient needs and design appropriate interventions, resulting in a fast discharge of an average of 0.95 days.   Keywords: Mental Disorders, Mental Health Nursing, Length of Stay, Specialist Therapy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of VitalPac Early Warning Scoring (ViEWS) and Early Warning Scoring (EWS) on patient deterioration due to access block in the ER. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with the research design being observational analytic through a prospective approach. The results of this study indicate that through the Spearman's rho test, the p-value of ViEWS was 0.000 <0.05. In conclusion, ViEWS is a tool used to make very good and accurate observations of patient deterioration due to access block in the ER than EWS. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of diabetic foot exercises on DPN values in DMT-2 patients. The method used is a quasi-experiment with Pretest-Postest with a control group design. The study results showed that in the intervention group using Wilcoxon, 0.000 was obtained, and 0.001 in the control group. Still, if you look at the clinical results of a difference of less than 10, there is no significant difference in the degree of DPN before and after the intervention. The results of the study with the Mann-Whitney test showed that diabetic foot exercises are effective in reducing the degree of DPN (p = <0.05), where the intervention group had a lower degree of DPN (12.24) compared to the control group (30.76). There is a difference in the degree of DPN between the intervention and control groups, with a p = 0.001. In conclusion, foot exercises effectively reduce the degree of diabetic peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at Dustira Hospital Cimahi. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of diabetes self-management education on knowledge and behavior in controlling blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a two-group pretest post-test design; namely, the intervention group was given self-management education using video media and booklets, and the control group self-management education using leaflets. The results showed that the intervention group obtained a knowledge variable with a mean rank of 17.50 with a value (Z-5.097), and behavior had a mean rank of 18.42 (Z-4.993). The control group obtained a knowledge variable with a mean rank of 14.15 with a value (Z-4.131). Meanwhile, behavior has a mean rank of 19.50 (Z-4.992) with significant results. In conclusion, through video and booklet media, the intervention group substantially affects diabetes self-management education and knowledge and behavior in controlling blood suzgar levels in diabetes mellitus patients through both video media and leaflets. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of practical communication training, supervision, and length of service on nurses' caring behavior in nursing care. The method used is a literature review study using the PubMed, ScienceDirect, Semantic Scholar, and Google Scholar databases for publications on "effective communication," "supervision," "length of service," and "caring" in "nurses" in the period 2018 to 2023. The results showed that there were 18 articles. A total of 9 articles discussed communication training or communication with nurses' caring behavior, while two articles discussed supervision with nurses' caring behavior. The results were five articles for the variable length of service with caring behavior. There were two articles discussing communication and supervision with nurses' caring behavior. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship or influence between effective communication and nurses' caring behavior. The same applies to the influence between length of service and nurses' caring behavior. The variable of clinical supervision with nurses' caring behavior shows that there is an influence between these variables. Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) in relieving pruritus in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients undergoing hemodialysis. The research method used is a literature review of various studies discussing VCO as a complementary therapy. The study results showed that VCO contains bioactive compounds such as lauric acid and vitamin E, which have moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. VCO can increase skin hydration and elasticity and help prevent skin infections that can worsen pruritus. In addition, a holistic approach that includes physical, psychological, and patient education aspects is also needed to increase the effectiveness of therapy. In conclusion, VCO has the potential to be an effective additional therapy in reducing pruritus in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis and can be part of a more comprehensive care strategy for health workers to improve the quality of life of patients.   Keywords: Hemodialysis, CKD, Pruritus, VCO

Abstract

This study aims to improve understanding of sarcopenia and develop effective strategies to prevent, diagnose, treat, or manage sarcopenia. The method used is descriptive-analytical in the form of a case study. The study results indicate that the management of sarcopenia uses two main principles, namely physical exercise intervention and nutritional intervention. Physical exercise 3-4 times a week for 3 months will show significant muscle mass and strength changes in sarcopenia patients. Providing protein in the form of leucine-enriched protein or whey is very effective in increasing muscle mass. Increasing protein intake by 1.2 grams/kg BW/day is recommended in patients with sarcopenia. In conclusion, sarcopenia often occurs in the elderly, which causes mobility disorders. Sarcopenia management that can be done today is a combination of physical activity, especially resistance training, and fulfillment of nutritional adequacy, including protein, vitamins, and minerals.
