Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of an Islamic spiritual mindfulness intervention on the spiritual well-being of older adults with hypertension. The method used was a pre-experimental, one-group, pre- and post-test design without a control group. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 69–73 years (53.3%), almost all were female (93.3%), most had a primary school education (53.3%), were widowed (53.3%), and nearly all were unemployed (housewives) (86.7%). Most respondents' spiritual well-being before the intervention (60%) was in the low category, and after the intervention, most (66.7%) were in the high category. Statistical tests showed a significant effect of the Islamic spiritual mindfulness intervention on spiritual well-being among older adults. In conclusion, 15 minutes of Islamic spiritual mindfulness can be implemented as part of an independent nursing intervention to improve the spiritual well-being of older adults with hypertension.   Keywords: Hypertension, Spiritual Well-being, Elderly, Islamic Spiritual Mindfulness

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the 30-degree and 45-degree Semi-Fowler positions on respiratory rate in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). The method used was a quasi-experimental approach with a pre-post test. The results showed a significant effect (p-value 0.000) in the second position. Respiratory rate in the 30-degree position decreased from an average of 25 to 22 breaths/minute, while in the 45-degree position, the decrease was more effective, from 26 to 21 breaths/minute. The 45-degree position proved more optimal in reducing shortness of breath because it maximizes the force of gravity to reduce pressure on abdominal organs against the diaphragm, resulting in maximum lung expansion. In conclusion, the 45-degree Semi-Fowler position is more effective in stabilizing respiratory rate in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis than the 30-degree position.   Keywords: Respiratory Rate, Breathing Pattern, Semi-Fowler, Pulmonary TB

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between nurses' knowledge of patient safety goals and correct patient identification. The method used is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach, sampling was carried out using purposive sampling of 92 respondents, data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results of this study showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and nurse compliance. Nurses with good knowledge tend to be highly compliant (83.6%), while those with sufficient knowledge are more likely to be non-compliant (8.8%). In conclusion, there is a relationship between nurses' knowledge of patient safety goals and compliance in correct patient identification.   Keywords: Patient Identification Compliance, Nurse Knowledge, Patient Safety Goals

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between fluid administration speed and hemodynamic changes in dengue patients in the Emergency Department (ED). The method used was quantitative with a correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The study subjects were 20 dengue patients selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis used the Chi-Square statistical test to examine the relationship between variables. The study demonstrated that "Fast" and "Medium" fluid administration speeds stabilized hemodynamics in 100% of dengue patients, while "Slow" fluid administration caused instability in 85.7% of patients (p-value 0.000). In conclusion, there is a relationship between fluid administration speed and hemodynamic changes in dengue patients in the ED of a private hospital in Tangerang.   Keywords: Dengue, Hemodynamics, Fluid Administration Speed

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of foot massage therapy on blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Kemayoran Community Health Center in Central Jakarta. A pre-experimental, one-group pre-test-post-test design was used in 36 respondents. The results showed that before the intervention, the average systolic blood pressure was 149.78 mmHg, and the diastolic blood pressure was 80.72 mmHg. After the intervention, the average systolic blood pressure decreased to 132.94 mmHg and the diastolic blood pressure to 80.22 mmHg (p < 0.05). In conclusion, foot massage therapy is effective in lowering both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in hypertensive patients and can also be used as a supportive intervention for healthcare services.   Keywords: Foot Massage, Hypertension, Blood Pressure

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of newspaper foot exercises on blood sugar levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus at the Kemayoran Community Health Center. The method used was a pre-experimental study with a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The results showed that respondents' blood sugar levels before the intervention ranged from 167 to 361 mg/dL, with an average of 232.51 mg/dL. After the newspaper foot exercises, blood sugar levels decreased to 132–287 mg/dL with an average of 189.66 mg/dL. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). In conclusion, newspaper foot exercises are effective in lowering blood sugar levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.   Keywords: Type II Diabetes Mellitus, Non-Pharmacological Intervention, Blood Sugar Levels, Foot Exercises

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of education on adherence to anti-tuberculosis medication among pulmonary TB patients at the Pulmonary Clinic of Grogol Petamburan Community Health Center. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group, involving purposively selected pulmonary TB patients. Education was provided through direct counseling and educational media, while adherence data were collected using questionnaires before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in patient adherence after education. Patients who were previously less adherent showed behavioral changes by starting to take their medications regularly and on schedule. In conclusion, education significantly influenced adherence to anti-TB medication.   Keywords: Education, Adherence to Anti-Tuberculosis Medication (OAT), Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of mindfulness breathing on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The study used a case study design, providing an evidence-based maintenance intervention in the form of mindfulness breathing relaxation techniques for 5–10 minutes to five hypertensive patients aged 40–65 years, measured using Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP). The results showed that overall, MAP values after the intervention ranged from 88.7–106.7 mmHg, indicating improvements in arterial perfusion pressure in the majority of hypertensive patients. In conclusion, the application of mindfulness breathing relaxation techniques has been proven effective in lowering blood pressure, thus providing a useful non-pharmacological approach to help control blood pressure and support the recovery process.   Keywords: Hypertension, Mindfulness Breathing, Blood Pressure
