Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of midwifery care for breastfeeding mothers using papaya therapy to increase breast milk production. The study used an observational case study with a qualitative approach. The results showed that on the third day after 7 days of regular consumption of papaya, breast milk volume increased significantly, from 100 ml on D-1 to 610 ml on D-7. The mother's rest pattern before the intervention was 6 hours, and after the intervention, it increased to 8 hours. In conclusion, papaya therapy is effective in significantly increasing breast milk production in breastfeeding mothers. This intervention can be a simple and easy-to-implement alternative to support exclusive breastfeeding.   Keywords: Breast Milk, Papaya, Breastfeeding Mothers

Abstract

This study aims to summarize scientific evidence regarding psychosocial burden, psychological responses, and coping strategies in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) as a basis for developing a more comprehensive management approach. The research method used a literature review by examining national and international articles published in the last five years. Articles were selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, then analyzed narratively to identify key themes related to psychosocial aspects in DM patients. The results showed that DM patients often experience various psychosocial problems, particularly diabetes disorders, depression, anxiety, and social stigma, which impact quality of life, therapy adherence, and glycemic control. This psychosocial burden is influenced by sociodemographic factors, disease duration, complications, beliefs about treatment, social support, and access to health services. Patient responses showed diverse coping strategies, both adaptive and maladaptive. While the integration of psychosocial support, diabetes education, and family involvement has been shown to improve quality of life, treatment maintenance, and glycemic control. In conclusion, diabetes mellitus management requires a holistic approach that integrates mental health screening, psychosocial interventions, ongoing education, and family support as an integral part of diabetes management to optimize patient health.   Keywords: Diabetes Mellitus, Diabetes Distress, Coping, Mental Health, Psychosocial

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the domains of cardiovascular disease risk awareness, including knowledge, perceived risk, perceived benefits and intentions to change behavior, and healthy eating intentions, and physical activity among nursing students. The study employed a correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The results showed that all domains of cardiovascular disease risk awareness were significantly associated with physical activity (p<0.05), although the correlation strengths ranged from very weak to weak. Positive correlations were found for knowledge (r=0.106; p=0.041), perceived benefits and intentions to change behavior (r=0.230; p<0.001), and healthy eating intentions (r=0.176; p=0.001), whereas perceived risk showed a very weak negative correlation with physical activity (r=-0.110; p=0.034). Among all domains, perceived benefits and intentions to change behavior demonstrated the strongest association with physical activity. In conclusion, knowledge of cardiovascular disease alone is insufficient to encourage nursing students to engage in physical activity.   Keywords: Cardiovascular Disease Risk Awareness; Nursing Students; Perceived Risk; Physical Activity

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of the Benson Relaxation Technique in reducing pain intensity among post-appendectomy patients. The method used was a literature review with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach. The results showed that out of 1,245 articles identified, 9 articles met the eligibility criteria and were included in the review. All selected studies demonstrated that the Benson Relaxation Technique was effective in reducing pain intensity among post-appendectomy patients. In addition to pain reduction, this intervention contributed to improved sleep quality, reduced anxiety levels, and enhanced patient comfort during the recovery period. In conclusion, the Benson Relaxation Technique is an effective non-pharmacological complementary intervention for pain management in post-appendectomy patients because it is easy to implement, safe, and beneficial for both the physical and psychological well-being of patients.                                                                   Keywords: Appendectomy, Benson Relaxation Technique, Literature Review, Non-Pharmacological Therapy, Postoperative Pain

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the experiences of health volunteers in improving family health quality. A qualitative research design utilizing a phenomenological approach was employed. The findings revealed four themes regarding the volunteers' experiences: family lack of health awareness, refusal to undergo health checks, and the role of family support for volunteer activities. In conclusion, health volunteers serve on the front lines of community service, assisting healthcare professionals in improving family health quality. They encounter various challenges in their work, thereby necessitating both formal and informal support.   Keywords: Health Volunteers, Family Health, Experience, Posyandu for Toddlers, Posyandu for the Elderly

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Dikdea as a Diabetes Mellitus risk screening tool for adolescents. The study employed a quantitative research design using a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) with a pretest–posttest control group design. The results showed that the intervention group experienced significant improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and healthy behaviors related to Diabetes Mellitus prevention compared to the control group, with significant differences in knowledge (p=0.021), attitudes (p=0.017), and healthy behaviors (p=0.013). Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis also showed that Dikdea had good diagnostic ability (AUC=0.87; sensitivity 84.2%; specificity 79.5%). In conclusion, Dikdea is an effective non-invasive screening tool for identifying the risk of Diabetes Mellitus among adolescents and has the potential to be implemented as a school-based screening strategy to support the early detection and prevention of Diabetes Mellitus.   Keywords: Adolescents, Diabetes Mellitus, Early Detection, Risk Screening

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of educational videos in increasing the knowledge of pregnant women with anemia and their interest in the routine consumption of blood-supplementing tablets. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design was employed. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference in effectiveness regarding the increase in knowledge (p = 0.000) and interest (p = 0.000) in routinely taking blood-supplementing tablets among pregnant women who watched the educational videos. In conclusion, the use of educational videos serves as an engaging health promotion medium; it is effective in enhancing pregnant women's knowledge regarding the independent recognition or early detection of anemia and its prevention during pregnancy, while also fostering a strong interest in the routine consumption of blood-supplementing tablets practices that contribute to a healthy pregnancy and prepare for a safe childbirth.   Keywords: Anemia, Pregnant Women, Educational Video
