Abstract

This research aims to analyze the challenges of future agricultural production in terms of water scarcity and the availability of agricultural land while exploring strategies that can be applied to address these challenges. The study employs a systematic literature review approach with a sample of 30 journals from various developed and developing countries. These journals span publication years from 2000 to 2021. Further investigation by reading the abstracts of each selected journal was conducted to ensure their relevance to the research objectives. The research findings indicate that water scarcity and the availability of agricultural land are significant factors influencing the sustainability of agricultural production. The absence of these inputs can have a substantial impact on meeting global demand. Factors such as extreme climate change, land conversion, population growth, and increased demand for agricultural products contribute to water scarcity and the limited availability of agricultural land. Strategies employed to address these issues involve a combination of policy measures and environmental prevention and adaptation strategies, such as wastewater and saline water management for irrigation, the use of superior crop varieties, changes in crop intensity, improved weather forecasting for farmers, and crop diversification. Moreover, to combat the shrinking availability of agricultural land, several strategies can be implemented, including optimizing land-use intensity, increasing the crop yield index, and formulating policies related to land-use conversion. Abstract

Coffee is the main commodity in the plantation industry which has a major impact on the economy. This research aims to analyze comparative and competitive advantages in coffee production. The analytical method used is the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) Model. The results of the analysis show that the price elasticity of countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Vietnam and Indonesia, which are the main source countries for coffee exports, is negative. In contrast, Honduras has positive price elasticity. Thus, if there is an increase in coffee bean exports on the global market, it is estimated that demand for coffee beans from Colombia and Honduras will increase.

Abstract

Processed cocoa products were a source of foreign exchange for Indonesia both before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the pandemic. Malaysia is a neighboring country and Indonesia's strategic trading partner in cocoa and processed exports. This study analyzes export competitiveness and competitiveness factors of Indonesian processed cocoa products in Malaysia. This study uses annual time series data from 2005-2022. This research method uses descriptive quantitative analysis and gravity model analysis. The research results show that there has been a decline in the competitiveness of Indonesian processed cocoa products in Malaysia. The competitiveness of cocoa paste decreased by more than 50%. Domestic cocoa production, Malaysian GDP, and Indonesian GDP influence the value of Indonesian cocoa butter exports in Malaysia. Cocoa butter has shown an increase in export value during the Covid-19 pandemic. Malaysia's GDP and the COVID-19 pandemic have influenced the value of Indonesian cocoa paste exports to Malaysia. Cocoa paste has competitiveness both comparatively and competitively in the Malaysian market.

Abstract

In analyzing productivity, appropriate methods are needed to answer hypotheses in a study. The classical assumption test is an analysis carried out to assess whether in a linear regression model there are problems with the classical assumptions. This research aims to determine the linear relationship between the observed variables. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with classical assumption tests on productivity with the variables age (X1), salary (X2), and dependents (X3). The results of this study show that the regression model has a normal distribution, there are no symptoms of heteroscedasticity, no symptoms of multicollinearity and no symptoms of autocorrelation with productivity.

Abstract

Dutch eggplant is a fresh fruit that is rich in health benefits. Apart from its delicious taste, tamarillo contains a variety of important nutrients, including vitamin C, antioxidants and fiber. The aim of this research is to determine the demand for Dutch eggplant (Solanum Betaceum) in the Medan Tuntungan District Main Market case study. The determination of respondents in this study was divided into 2 categories, namely tamarillo fruit traders and consumers who bought tamarillo fruit. For tamarillo fruit traders, all tamarillo fruit traders who were in the main market in Medan Tuntungan District were determined, while for tamarillo fruit consumers it was determined individually. The census numbered 25 people. The results of the research show that the factors that simultaneously influence the demand for tamarillo fruit in the main market are the price of tamarillo fruit, consumer income, and the price of other fruit for the number of dependents variable which does not influence the demand for tamarillo fruit in the main market at Medan Tuntungan subdistrict.
