Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve student learning outcomes in addition and subtraction material by using simple concrete objects, such as shirt buttons and straws. This will be interesting because students will understand it more easily by using real objects around them. This research is classroom action research, involving 15 grade 1 students at Parongpong Adventist Elementary School. This research consists of two cycles, each cycle includes Planning, Implementation, Observation and Reflection. The instruments used were test questions, observation sheets and interviews. The results of the research show that there is an increase in student learning outcomes which can be seen in the average class scores between cycle I and Cycle II respectively, namely 73.50 and 78.01, and the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes in cycles I and II respectively, namely 73.33% and 86.67%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that learning using clothes buttons and straws can improve students' mathematics learning outcomes

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the understanding of class X students towards the concept of probability. The purpose of the study was achieved using a classroom action research method whose action cycle follows the Kemmis & Taggart Model. The classroom action given was the application of a problem-based learning model for 3 cycles. The subjects involved were 12 class X students, the researcher as a teacher, 1 senior teacher as a validator of learning devices and test instruments, and 1 principal as an observer. The research data was taken using a probability concept understanding test instrument in the form of 5 descriptive questions, which were given at the end of each cycle. Learning outcome data were analyzed by calculating the average score and percentage of learning completion. Other data in the form of observer notes were taken using an observation sheet. After the classroom action was carried out, the average score of learning outcomes increased from each cycle, which increased by 33 from cycle I to cycle II, and increased again by 9 from cycle II to cycle III. The application of the problem-based learning model in this study was said to be successful because the achievement of student completion had exceeded 75%, namely in cycles II and III. Thus, the results of this study can be a recommendation for teachers who want to teach the concept of probability.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the quality of quiz questions for student-level students, organized by the Mathematics Education Study Program, FTIK IAIN Pontianak together with the Mathematics Education Student Association. The evaluation was carried out based on aspects of material, construction, language, and Bloom's Taxonomy. The mathematics materials presented in the competition include Algebra, Geometry, Number Theory, Trigonometry. Data were taken from documents of questions, answers, and participant scores. The analysis showed that the majority of questions were of good quality, although some aspects, such as the balance of cognitive levels in Bloom's Taxonomy, needed improvement. This study is expected to be the basis for the development of similar competitions in the future

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to provide examples of the correct steps in using statistical tools in non-exact research. The use of statistical models should be appropriate to the problem being studied and the research needs. If statistical tools are not tailored to the research needs, the research results will be less reliable and will jeopardize the accuracy and validity of data interpretation. In reality, errors still occur in the use of statistical analysis tools. Therefore, this article can be useful as an example to assist students in writing their theses, specifically regarding the use of classical assumption test models. It is hoped that errors can be corrected to ensure the accuracy and validity of data interpretation are in line with the assumptions of the research problem.
