Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the errors and factors that cause errors made by students in solving HOTS questions on the subject matter of a three-variable system of linear equations based on Newman's theory. This study is qualitative research with a case study as the research design. The Subjects in this study is a class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 2 Majene in the academic year 2021/2022, totaling 37 students and 2 students from the high and low ability categories and 1 student from the medium ability category using purposive sampling technique. Instrument of this study were HOTS diagnostic test sheets and interview guidelines. The results of this study indicate that the types of errors made by students in solving HOTS questions on the subject matter of the three-variable system of linear equations are: (1) High ability students make comprehension errors, process skills errors, and encoding errors; (2) medium ability student make comprehension errors, transformation error, process skill error, and encoding errors; (3) low ability students make reading errors, comprehension errors, transformation error, process skill error, and encoding errors . In general, the factors that cause errors are not understanding the meaning of the questions, not being used to writing down things that are known and asked, not careful writing the problem information, difficulty changing the problem into mathematical models, unable to design the solution of the problem properly, not being accustomed to writing conclusion answers, and difficulty compiling sentences in the conclusion of the answer.

Abstract

Discovery Learning is a learning model used by researchers to improve students' mathematical abilities. Each discovery learning research on mathematical ability allows different results for the components of mathematical ability, each level of education and the material being taught. Nowadays there is more and more research on discovery learning so it is necessary to review previous research to get accurate conclusions. This study aims to describe the influence of the discovery learning model on the overall mathematical ability of students, based on the components of mathematical ability, based on the level of education and the material being taught. The population in this study is research on the effect of discovery learning models on students' mathematical abilities published from 2018 to 2021. By coding data, 30 studies are obtained that match the criteria. The data analysis technique uses a large effect size analysis. Research result; The implementation of the discovery learning model on students' mathematical abilities as a whole has a major influence with the effect size value of 1, 05, on the mathematical ability component has a major influence on problem solving abilities, the effect size value is 1.18, on the level of education has a major influence on the level of SMP with an effect size value of 1.08, on the material being taught has a major influence on the SPLDV material, the effect size value is 1.94.

Abstract

A review of several studies showed that the teacher's questioning skills are still not optimal, even though this is a skill possessed by the teacher. Therefore, the study of giving questions or questioning needs to be studied further. This study aimed to provide an explanation of questioning, scaffolding, the role of questioning as scaffolding in learning mathematics, and strategies for conducting questioning. This research method is literature study by collecting books and scientific journals related to questioning and scaffolding. The results of this literature study indicated that teachers need to have skills in questioning in carrying out their roles. As a form of scaffolding, questioning played a very important and quite decisive role for the success of learning mathematics. In carrying out questioning, several things need to be considered, such as a good atmosphere, short and clear questions, sufficient time to think, tracking questions, paying attention to the level of questions, and most importantly paying attention to feedback given. With questioning, it will have an impact on the development of the core quality of students' mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of student perceptions and student interest in online learning on mathematics learning outcomes. The research method is causal design with a sample of 26 students determined by random sampling (randomly). The population in this study was students of class X SMA Negeri 14 Ambon in the academic year 2020/2021.  The research instrument used a questionnaire and a test, for a student perception questionnaire totaling 25 statement items, for a student learning interest questionnaire totaling 29 statement items. Data analysis used normality test, simple regression analysis and multiple regression which contained linearity test, correlation coefficient, determinant coefficient, t-test and F-test at a significant level = 0.05 with the help of SPSS ver. 25.0. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was no effect of students' perceptions and student interest in online learning on the mathematics learning outcomes of class X SMA Negeri 14 Ambon. The contribution of students' perceptions and interest in learning to learning outcomes is 27% and the remaining 73% is influenced by other variables.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is one of the important abilities of learning mathematics. This study aims to determine whether the increase in the mathematical representation ability of students who receive learning using GeoGebra is better than students who receive learning using ordinary learning. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method with the design form The Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population of this research is the students of class X SMK PGRI 1 Tourism Cianjur. Involving a sample of 31 students from two classes selected through purposive sampling technique. Class X Catering and Dressing as an experimental class and class X Banking as a control class. The instrument used is a test instrument in the form of pretest and posttest to measure the ability of mathematical representation and non-test in the form of an attitude scale questionnaire. Analysis of quantitative data in this study using SPSS 24. The results of the analysis show that the improvement of mathematical representation skills using GeoGebra is better than mathematical representation skills using ordinary learning. And students like the use of GeoGebra in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that has several main topics such as shapes and sizes with their own difficulties so that they need to be studied in a way that is closer to everyday life. One way that can be done is to link mathematics with culture, for example, is traditional dance. Manuk Dadali  is a traditional dance from West Java that can be used as learning material for students through ethnomathematics-based learning. This research is an exploratory research conducted to analyze and discuss the geometric concepts contained in the Manuk Dadali Dance using an ethnographic approach. The data is collected by observation, documentation and interviews. Based on the research conducted, it was found that geometric elements in Manuk Dadali dance movements and floor patterns, including angular geometry, two-dimensional geometry, and transformation geometry.

Abstract

To improve student learning results, changes are needed in the learning process in a better path. The purpose of this study was to analyze student learning result about one-variable linear equations with CTL before and after the application of scratch-based media. This type of research is a class action research with 2 cycles in which the subjects are 30 students of class VII in one MTs Kota Cimahi. Data obtained through observation and tests at the end of each cycle. In cycle 1 students carry out teaching and learning activities with Student Worksheets and at the end of cycle 1 a test is carried out to find out student learning result during cycle 1. The data is analyzed and then used as a reference for the implementation of cycle 2 which in practice, students study with Student Worksheets plus the existence of media-based assistance scratch application. After cycle 2 ends, students are given another test with the same indicators as cycle 1. In the test results from cycle 1, out of 30 students, only 3 students get learning outcomes in the high category, while the test results for cycle 2, out of 30 students, only 1 student who get the value of learning outcomes in the high category. The results of this study indicate that the application of contextual learning with the help of scratch-based media applications has not been able to improve mathematics learning outcomes in the material of one-variable linear equations.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to analyze students' ability to understand mathematical concepts. The method applied in this research is descriptive method. The research subjects were students of class VII. The instrument used in this study was a test of students' ability to understand mathematical concepts, which amounted to 3 questions according to indicators of students' understanding of mathematical concepts. After data collection, the researcher analyzed the results of working on the ability to understand mathematical concepts and the results of the interviews to see the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that the ability to understand mathematical concepts in class VII students of SMP Negeri 1 Banjarwangi is still low, as evidenced by the presence of many mistakes in solving mathematical comprehension ability questions, especially in the indicator of restating a concept in the material lines and angles, giving examples and non-examples of concepts. , as well as on the indicators classifying objects based on whether or not the requirements that make up the concept are met or not as stated in the material lines and angles.     Keywords: Ability to Understand Mathematical Concepts, Lines and Angles
