Abstract

This literature review reveals the journal publication on integrated scientific literacy in natural science learning. A systematic review was carried out through a modified and adopted items selected for the systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA). The articles with integrated scientific literacy have been detected in a number of journals, such as ERIC, SCIENCE DIRECT, IJSE, SE, JRST, IOP SCIENCE, DOAJ, and Springer, using the keywords of "Science Literacy teaching materials." The results suggest that the number of studies on integrating scientific literacy learning materials from 2016 to 2020 is still low, so that the opportunity for its development remains wide.

Abstract

Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based questions can train students to develop their reasoning power. Therefore, this study aimed to obtain a HOTS-based test instrument in a feasible computer-based exam on the topic of rotational dynamics and rigid body balance. The research method used in this development research is 4-D, consisting of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The result of this research is the HOTS-based test instrument in a computer-based test that is feasible on the material of rotational dynamics and rigid body balance that meets the validity requirements of material experts and media experts with the lowest V index value of 0.58 and the highest V index value equal to 0.83. The average percentage of the total validation score of material experts obtained were 77.78%, and media experts were 79.44%. Overall, the test instrument has a total media validation score of 78.61%, so that the computer-based HOTS test instrument with testing based on rotational dynamics and rigid body balance is categorized as valid and ready to use.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a TOEFL learning model that tailored to the student’s needs. The TOEFL learning model that has been applied previously in the Indonesian Railway Polytechnic is still conventional, thus impacting students' learning interest in learning TOEFL. Therefore, a website-based TOEFL learning development model is needed to be developed. This research uses research and development (R&D) method, which is to develop and test a product. The development of this website-based TOEFL learning model uses a research and development approach ( R &D) through 3 stages, namely: 1) preliminary study, 2) development, and 3) final product. Research result showed that this application-based TOEFL learning model can increase students' interest and motivation, because this development model can provide convenience for students, especially for TOEFL learning. Therefore, after conducting feasibility trials with model experts and users, it was found that 87.7% of these models are very feasible in the implementation in the Indonesian Railway Polytechnic. The application of this web-based learning model can also increase students' learning interest, as evidenced by the results of a questionnaire on students stating that 68% of students are very interested in using this model, 22% of students are interested and 10% are not interested in using application-based learning models

Abstract

Students in a lower grade of elementary school have started to use pictures from theirobservation oftheir environment and constructed ideas until they arrive atthe early realism stage. Using qualitative approach and samples from pictures of students in lower grades of elementary schools, this study concluded that the visual characteristics of theirpictures are constructive thinking as affected by their environment and personality. Their learning tendency uses concrete, integrative, and hierarchical with the drawing typesof visual, haptic, and amixture of them. Most drawingsare characterized as stacked, laying down, covering each other, bird perspective, and object reduction, with four dominating visual elementsof line, area, shape, and color

Abstract

This study empirically investigated teachers' perceptions, current assessment grading practices, and views towards classroom assessment grading practice. The study randomly sampled 204 teachers and utilized three questionnaires for data collection. Cronbach Alpha Coefficient established the reliability of the various questionnaires. Frequency counts and percentages were used to answer the study research questions, while Pearson correlation was employed to test the study hypotheses. The study found that teachers do not positively perceive assessment grading practice, included non-achievement factors when grading students' assessments and used subjective knowledge when grading assessments. However, teachers viewed the assessment grading practice as an essential tool for quantification of students learning. Subsequently, significance difference was found between teachers' experience  and teachers' perception towards assessment grading practice and views on the classroom importance of assessment grading practice. Nonetheless, no significant difference was found between teachers experience and teachers' current classroom grading habits.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of web-based teaching materials about "我的家人"(wǒ de jiā rén, my family)in Mandarin subject. This research employed a mixture of quantitative and qualitative research methods with the Alessi & Trollip development model of planning, design, and development. The subjects of this study were 37 students of management major  at  MDP  University. The  trial  design  in  this  study  used a  one-group  pretest  and posttestdesign. This  research's  datacollection  techniques  are  interviews,  observations,  tests,  and questionnaires.  The  researchers utilizedinterviews,  observations,  tests,  and  questionnaires to analyzethe data. The research analysison the development of teaching materials can be described as: (1) its validity has been tested after being tested through 3 experts carried out in stages, with an  assessment of  93.33%.  (2) its  practicality has  been tested  on threestudents byfilling  out  a questionnaire. Itis obtained an efficient evaluation(91.66%) for each assessor. Thisweb-based teaching material can be used as online collaborative learningby getting an efficient assessment. (3) effectively increaseslearning outcomes between the pretest and posttestscores. In the pretest, the score was dominated in the very poor category, while in the posttest, the score was dominated in the good enough category. Itwas considered effective, reflected in the N-gain score of 56.49% in the medium category

Data were collected through two instruments, including the work motivation instrument, which consisted of 12 items and the employee performance instrument (the employee here is a teacher) which consisted of 12 items. Data were analyzed using JASP software analysis with descriptive techniques. The results show that Sundanese ethnicity is the highest in showing good performance compared to other ethnic groups. While the highest work motivation comes from ethnic Malay and Sundanese, meaning that teachers from ethnic Malay and Sundanese have higher work motivation than Javanese, Batak, and Betawi.
