Abstract

In contemporary times, the issues of community independence and welfare are crucial and require special attention. Dependence on conventional employment makes society vulnerable to economic shocks. Therefore, sustainable solutions such as hydroponic vegetable cultivation, a soil-less farming method using nutrient solutions with water as the medium, are needed. Hydroponics is very suitable for limited spaces and offers many benefits, such as water conservation and quick, high-quality yields. In this research, the author uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, collecting and processing data to propose hydroponics as a solution to improve the independence and welfare of urban communities. By utilizing a carefully designed 10-step pastoral strategy, which provides a suitable framework for implementation within the community, people can be trained and educated to use this farming technique to increase food production, income, and local food security. Additionally, hydroponics can create new job opportunities.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the use of local language as the language of instruction in teaching Catholic Religious Subject at YPPK St. Samuel Mokbiran Elementary School, Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua Province. This research was motivated by the students' low mastery of the Indonesian language and the students' better mastery of the local language Muyu Kawiyet. Qualitative research methods were employed to collect data through observation and interviews. The research results showed that the use of the local language as the language of instruction in the learning process assisted the students to better understand the learning materials, especially the main prayers of the Catholic Religion. However, this also hindered their mastery of Indonesian, thereby impacting their overall academic development. To address this issue, this study suggested the use of bilingual approach and the provision of more adequate learning facilities.

Abstract

This article was prepared to analyze the implementation of persona physica in the sacrament of baptism for the development of the faith life of Catholics today. This analysis was of course inspired by concern over the large number of believers who do not yet understand fundamentally what persona physics is and its benefits for everyday life. First of all, persona physica displays a person's ability (persona) to obtain their rights and obligations in the eyes of the law (ecclesiastical law). This ability can only be obtained through valid initiation practices in the tradition of the Catholic Church. In this case, the sacrament of baptism is an important element for a person to obtain persona physica (individual canonical position). Such rights and obligations empower a person to achieve the fullness of God's salvation in the life of faith and society (social) in which he lives. "Salvation" does not only talk about life after death, but also about presenting Heaven in the midst of the world. This displays an exclusive dimension, which is also complemented and expressed in social life itself. Meanwhile, the writing methodology is literature study.

Abstract

This article discusses interfaith marriages in the context of the Catholic Church, especially from the perspective of canon law and reconciliation efforts. The Catholic Church recognizes the validity of interfaith marriages under certain conditions, although it does not consider them sacraments. Through an analysis of canon law, requirements such as dispensation from the bishop, guarantees of educating children in the Catholic faith, and adapted marriage procedures are discussed. This article also explores the challenges of interfaith marriages, such as the potential for conflict due to differences in religious beliefs and practices. Furthermore, this article describes reconciliation efforts carried out by the Catholic Church, such as inter-faith dialogue to build mutual understanding, special pastoral formation for interfaith couples, as well as a more inclusive approach involving figures from other religions. The main goal of this effort is to help couples build strong commitment, overcome challenges wisely, and create a harmonious and loving family environment. This article highlights the Catholic Church's efforts to balance maintaining the integrity of Catholic teachings and values ​​by demonstrating openness and tolerance towards diversity of beliefs in an increasingly pluralistic modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the impact of alcohol consumption on the spiritual decadence of Catholic teenagers, particularly in relation to their participation in church life in the Santo Kristoforus Kampung Baru Neighborhood. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of fifteen purposively selected teenagers. The results showed that alcohol consumption is a significant factor that disrupts the spiritual life of teenagers. This phenomenon is reflected in a decrease in the frequency of attendance in worship, minimal involvement in ecclesiastical activities, and weak interpretation of the teachings of the Catholic faith. In addition, there are also supporting factors such as lack of parental supervision, weak pastoral care, and negative influences from the social environment. This study recommends strengthening the Church's youth mentoring program, increasing the role of the family in faith education, and collaboration across pastoral sectors in restoring the spirituality of decadent adolescents.

Abstract

Abstract The focus of this paper is to discuss the case of interfaith marriage in the area of St. Maria Ratu Rosari-Reo Parish, Ruteng Diocese, especially in the context of the view of canon law of the Catholic Church. This article investigates the implications of canon law related to interfaith marriage cases and the process of granting dispensation to Catholics involved. The author analyzes the theological, ethical, and canonical legal foundations involved in handling cases of this kind. In addition, this paper also discusses the social and spiritual impact of the dispensation decision on the individuals and Catholic communities involved. The case of interfaith marriage in the parish of St. Mary Queen Rosari-Reo highlights the complexity of the canon law of the Catholic Church. The theological, ethical, and procedural foundations of canon law are analyzed, while the social and spiritual impact of dispensation decisions is considered. The importance of integrating the principles of Church teaching with the social and pastoral reality of Catholics is highlighted in the context of interfaith marriages in the Parish of Str. Maria Ratu Rosari-Reo Ruteng Diocese.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of the church in addressing the challenges of the post-truth era in conveying truth amid the spread of hoaxes and disinformation. This study employs a qualitative approach using literature analysis and case studies on information dissemination in church digital media. Primary data sources include theological studies, previous research, and analysis of church digital media content. The findings indicate that hoaxes and disinformation in religious contexts weaken church authority, polarize congregations, and lead to theological misunderstandings that deviate from church doctrine. The church needs to develop effective strategies to combat disinformation, such as enhancing digital literacy among congregants, strengthening pastoral theology, and optimizing social media as a platform for spreading the true teachings. This study emphasizes that the church’s role in safeguarding truth must be proactive to prevent congregants from falling into misleading information. By adopting an approach based on God’s word and effective communication aligned with technological advancements, the church can continue to be a guardian of truth in the post-truth era.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the process of artificial intelligence technology trapping students in misleading information and describe the urgency of developing critical thinking skills in educational institutions in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data sources were obtained by conducting a literature review. The researcher analyzed the process of artificial intelligence technology trapping students in misleading information based on theories and ideas found in the literature review. Based on the results of the research, it was found that artificial intelligence technology traps students in misleading information through the algorithms of various social media platforms, search engines and educational applications that they use. The algorithms use data scraping and analysis methods to collect the most relevant and most interesting information for students. Without realizing it, students end up trapped in a bubble of information according to their preferences and polarized according to their own beliefs. It becomes difficult for them to learn and accept different views. This can be prevented by developing critical thinking skills in schools. Schools should provide an environment conducive to students being able to assess and evaluate all the information they receive from artificial intelligence technologies. This ability is referred to as critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study adopted a descriptive qualitative approach with a phenomenological paradigm to understand the practices, barriers, and strategies for developing an inclusive culture in 102 primary schools in the Merauke district selected through cluster sampling from a population of 209 schools. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, online questionnaires, and documentation studies, then analyzed using a cycle of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Results show that 84% of schools have not implemented the inclusion paradigm thoroughly, with existing implementation limited to learning adjustments and individualized assessments. Six main barriers were identified: unsupportive school policies and leadership, teachers' competence and lack of role of Special Assistance Teachers, rigid education unit curriculum, limited infrastructure, lack of professional experts, and suboptimal local government and community support. As a solution, it is recommended to strengthen the policy and vision-mission of inclusive schools, develop the professionalism of inclusive teachers and socialize Special Assistance Teachers, modify a more adaptive curriculum, improve accessibility infrastructure and adaptive learning media, add experts and strategic partners, develop a comprehensive support system, and collaborate across sectors.

Abstract

The Rohingya crisis is a protracted humanitarian tragedy. Thousands of Rohingya refugees have fled Myanmar and sought refuge in neighboring countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, they face various challenges, such as limited access to basic services, discrimination, and trauma. Dialog Karya, a concept initiated by Armada Riyanto, offers an innovative solution to address the challenges faced by Rohingya refugees. Dialog Karya combines interfaith dialog and economic empowerment through arts and culture. This approach aims to build interfaith understanding and tolerance, Empower Rohingya refugees economically through training and skills development in arts and culture. Increase public awareness to encourage support for them. Dialog Karya has the potential to have a significant positive impact on the lives of Rohingya refugees in Indonesia.
