Abstract

The development of technology makes information very needed as well as the library which can be categorized as a gathering place for information. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the library's performance is not optimal. The purpose of the study was to determine the existence of libraries in the new normal era and the strategies used by librarians in maintaining their existence and increasing interest in visiting the Tulungagung Regional Library. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method. The informants used in this study were the head of the library, librarians, and users. The results showed that the existence of the Tulungagung Regional Library was quite good even though there were still shortcomings because the procurement of books had decreased. However, the library also opens an ebook application service and an online storytelling program for children called DoReMi in collaboration with several institutions. The condition of the library building is also still lacking, but the role of the librarian is quite good. Interest in visiting the library has also decreased, but public enthusiasm for visiting the library remains high. The strategies taken by librarians are not many, they are only able to adapt, implement and maximize existing services, create an online storytelling program for children called DoReMi and ebook applications, enforce improvised regulations and intensify online promotions and outreach to the public. This is because the Tulungagung Regional Library is still hindered by government regulations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe user education activities in the new normal era. This was motivated by the limitation of face-to-face activities during the new normal period which was then responded by the IAIN Ponorogo library by organize the use of social media in user education activities. This study uses qualitative research with data collection methods is observation, interviews and literature study. The results showed that there were several social media used to promote activities as well as the implementation of user education, such as websites, Instagram, Facebook, Google Form and Youtube to make it easier for students to recognize and utilize library facilities effectively and efficiently. The delivery method used in the implementation of user education activities is through the use of audio-visual uploaded on the Official Youtube of IAIN Ponorogo. The form of activity is directed at library orientation, including introduction to libraries, browsing library collections, borrowing and returning book collection, and procedure uploading student final project.

Abstract

This paper aims to find out the Islamic Knowledge Management (IKM) Library of the state Islamic religious college (PTKIN) in the new normal era/work from anywhere. Focus on library tacit and explicit knowledge; how to deal with the era of the new normal; and manage Islamic knowledge in the future. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results of this research, first, in managing Islamic knowledge, the library began to transfer the media of Islamic library materials such as Arabic books with an Islamic approach into pdf form and the organization strengthens the psychology of workers by paying attention to workplace spirituality. The library also facilitates the needs of users for Islamic library materials and referral services through online media such as whatsapp, telegram, and email. Second, then to face the work from anywhere era, the library will prepare things directly after the Covid-19 pandemic and increase the use of information and communication technology (information and Communication Technology / ITC). Second, the PTKIN library did to improve the tacit knowledge of the staff was to use several video conferencing applications to attend webinars on information science and libraries as well as about the Islamic of staff, work groups, and organization. As for explicit knowledge, the PTKIN library during WFH encouraged its staff to be active on social media and make webinars with the theme of information science and libraries.  The conclusion of this study shows that libraries can provide services for users by implementing IKM and increasing organizational knowledge during the work from anywhere period.

Abstract

Literacy is one aspect as a basic ability that must be possessed by someone, not only in educational institutions but in broad community forums. A person's literacy ability will make it easier for someone to understand and receive information. The aims of this study are: 1) To analyze the role of teachers in utilizing the reading corner program at MI Mansyaul Huda Gunungsari Bojonegoro. 2) To analyse the supporting and inhibiting factors of the reading corner program at MI Mansyaul Huda Gunungsari Bojonegoro. This research approach uses descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis used the Miles and Hubberman method. The results of this study indicate that through the Reading Corner Program implemented by MI Mansyaul Huda Gunungsari Bojonegoro, there are several identified teacher roles in improving students' literacy skills, namely the teacher being a facilitator and evaluator, the teacher being the person in charge of providing understanding, and the teacher encouraging students' literacy skills, through learning activities or the available Reading Corner Program. Supporting and inhibiting factors in this study, namely the first supporting factors, namely facilities, school culture, and community encouragement. Factors inhibiting student interest in learning and an environment that is not conducive. Supporting or inhibiting factors are important for teachers or educational institutions to identify, especially as a form of evaluation so that the learning carried out can run even better.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the function of the university library as a very vital element in meeting the information needs of the academic community in carrying out the tridharma of higher education and none of these roles can be realized without an effective User Education program because this program aims to create awareness about how to make effective use of library services and resources. The purpose of this study was to describe the effectiveness of User Education activities on library use by students of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. The research method is descriptive quantitative with a questionnaire as a primary data collection tool. The population of this research is all students of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities UIN Imam Bonjol Padang 2021-2022. Research questions were answer and analysis was performed using the mean scores. Research findings reveal that students of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities have various levels of understanding of the concept of User Education. The study also found that the User Education program positively influenced student use of the library and helped meet their academic information needs. The results of the study also found several problems that hindered User Activities effectively such as excess participants, lack of infrastructure, less innovative human resources, shortage of teaching materials, limited time allocated for activities, less conducive supporte and inadequate space. This study concludes that with a central place in student education, and to make user education programs indispensable, adequate resources should be provided to ensure that the ideal goals of the program are realized.

Abstract

Leaders with their leadership style can influence employees to improve performance at work and able to create a climate of communication that can affect employee productivity. This study aims to describe the leadership style and communication model applied at the Central Library of UIN Sumatra Utara Medan. In this study, the authors used a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytic approach. The data collected is the result of observation, interviews and literature studies. From this study it can be seen that the head of the librarian as the leader of the North Sumatra UIN Library involves subordinates in making decisions, the head of the librarian is willing to accept suggestions and involve subordinates in decision making which is a characteristic of a democratic leadership style and the communication that is carried out is in the form of interactive communication and flows upward and down. This means that the process of conveying messages from the head of the librarian to subordinates and vice versa is accompanied by a direct response.

Abstract

Digital natives can be referred to as the google generation because most of their information needs are met through the internet and tend to do things by multitasking, working in a network, like interactive games, accessing information randomly, getting information quickly and accurately, and prefer online sources. Compared to sources in the library, this is also the case for digital natives at the Faculty of Ushuluddin Adab and Da'wah IAIN Kerinci. The purpose of this study is to describe the obstacles faced by the digital native in searching for information. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze information related to information retrieval conducted by digital natives and find the obstacles they face. The results of the study show that the obstacles faced by digital natives when searching for information are (1). Internet (personal factors) as follows: lack of mastery of information literacy such as the use of keywords, and how to access information; (2) external (external factors) the lack of understanding of students in formulating or analyzing the information needs they need so that they spend a lot of time searching for inappropriate information and this has an impact on the high cost of purchasing internet quota when searching for information.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the current phenomenon where according to a Digital Literacy survey conducted by Katadata, 30-60% of Indonesian people have been exposed to hoaxes when using social media anda 11% of them have spread hoax information because they don’t care about the truth of the information being spread. This study aimed to determine the relationship beetwen digital literacy and social media use. This study uses a quantitative approach, the population of this study was all students of the PAI study program of STAI “UISU” Pematang Siantar. The sample size was deterrmined using a purposive sampling technique. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula so that the number of respondents was 86. Research data were collected by distributing questionnairs. The results showed that the digital literacy of PAI STAI “UISI” Pematang Siantar students was categorized as very high. This obtained an average score of 4.23 on an interval scale of 4.21-5.00, as well as the use of social media by students of PAI STAI “UISU” Pematang Siantar is categorized as good, it obtained an average score of 3.92 on an interval scale 3.21-4.21. the result of the data analysis also show that there is asignificant relationship between digital literacy and the use of social media by students of the PAI study program of STAI “UISU” Pematang Siantar.

Abstract

Cloud storage is a digital document storage application which is the result of the development of a cloud computing system, this system utilizes the internet network in carrying out its business processes. Utilization of cloud storage applications on digital documents provides various conveniences for users, not only professional users who work for their organizations but can be used by individual personal users who use it to store personal documents. With the existence of a remote work system must be implemented, in disruption era which is slowly shifting conventional patterns, it also affects the process of storing digital documents into things that need to be implemented in organizations. Cloud storage supports collaboration which is easy to implement with colleagues, access can be done anywhere and anytime, to have advanced security. Online document storage provides benefits for business processes. The benefits of cloud storage are supporting paperless programs, making it easier to preserve digital documents, helping organizations in controlling data, mitigating disasters against unpredictable events, saving expenses, and having an advanced data security system. In addition to the benefits/conveniences offered by the service provider. User readiness needs to be considered. This will be a challenge aspect in implementing cloud storage, such as education and socialization regarding the use of cloud storage systems which are still not optimal, vulnerabilities in the misuse of document data stored in the cloud and requires superior human resources in the use of cloud storage.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the question of how the application of collaborative and just-in-time model collection development and how the comparison of the two models that have been applied to educational libraries. The method used in this research is a critical review method with a literature study approach. The writer made comparation and analyze between two articles which adopted in different model of collection development. The research findings are as follows: 1) The collaborative collection development model utilizes library networks to save budgets and accelerate collection availability, while the just-in-time collection development model applies a responsive access-based collection development approach. This policy is to provide the right and fast collection and save funds. 2) The difference between these two models is that the collaborative model requires a network so as to facilitate the process of both procurement together in order to create budget savings, while the just-in-time collection development is a single model that does not really require a network so that it has absolute autonomy.
