Abstract

Heat straightening is a method of repairing material distortion caused by welding heat. Heat straightening is done by heating the material in an area that is distorted and cooled slowly in the air until the desired material dimensions tolerance appropriate are achieved. The Heat Straightening method is carried out at a range suhu 370℃-550℃ using the oxy-acetylene method for the heating process. This research is aimed to find out effect Heat Straightening proses the hardness value on ABS EH36 material. The hardness testing method used is the Hardness Vickers test with load applied 10kgf on Carbon Steel ABS EH 36. From the research it is known that the hardness value in the base metal area is higher than the heat straightening area with an average hardness value of 192.1 HV10 in the base metal area and an average hardness value of 185 HV10 in the heat straightening area.

Abstract

Pelapisan (cladding) material corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) menggunakan Inconel 625 memadukan properti ketahanan korosi Inconel 625 dan kekuatan (high strength) pipa baja API 5L X65. Sampel lapisan CRA difabrikasi dengan pengelasan Pulsed Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). Filler metal ERNiCrMo-3 dengan dua merk yang berbeda, yaitu RW625 dan NM625, digunakan sebagai material CRA. Pengujian non-destruktif berupa visual testing, liquid penetrant testing dan ultrasonic testing menunjukkan tidak terdapat cacat pengelasan pada deposisi lapisan CRA maupun antar-muka lapisan CRA dan base metal. Pengujian kekerasan Vickers menunjukkan NM625 memiliki nilai kekerasan 228 ±8,8 HV10 (layer 1) dan 231.6 ±10,8 HV10 (layer 2), sedangkan RW625 memiliki nilai kekerasan 203.4 ±8,1 HV10 (layer 1) dan 213.6 ±6,3 HV10. Kedua filler metal menghasilkan nilai Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) yang sama 48, yang menunjukkan kedua filler metal memiliki properti ketahanan korosi yang sama.

Abstract

Poor posture can cause user discomfort, changing human posture. If the posture has changed, it can affect daily activities. This study conducted a posture analysis of the design of a coffee roaster with a capacity of 10 Kg using the REBA method. Visualization analysis was carried out using solidworks software. The analysis was carried out by dividing the body by the arm when using a roasting machine. Analysis of body parts including neck position, trunk position and leg position, analysis of the arm including the position of the upper arm, the position of the lower arm and the position of the wrist. The height of an adult is assumed to be 166 cm. The analysis results that the risk of using a roasting machine is in the medium category, namely, changes are needed to the design of the roasting machine so that the use of the machine can be more optimal. The design of roasting machine can be improved by increasing the height of the machine frame or positioning the machine on a higher place.

Abstract

3D printer technology offers the capability to print 3D objects with nearly perfect accuracy, making it a crucial tool in the industry for rapid prototyping. This study employs an experimental approach to design a Cartesian 3D Printer with a printing area of X-axis 150 mm, Y-axis 150 mm, and Z-axis 200 mm, and subsequently compares the printing accuracy with the Anycubic Mega Zero 3D printer, which has a printing area of X-axis 220 mm, Y-axis 220 mm, and Z-axis 250 mm. Both machines underwent testing by printing block specimens 10 times each. The printing results revealed several specimens that did not meet the specified tolerance limits. In the Cartesian 3D Printer, three dimensional measurements exceeded tolerance levels in specimens 7 and 8, specifically in length, width, and height dimensions. Meanwhile, in the Anycubic Mega Zero 3D Printer, five measurements exceeded tolerance limits in specimens 6, 8, and 9, with one width dimension and two length and height dimensions. From these findings, it can be concluded that the Cartesian 3D Printer demonstrates higher accuracy compared to the Anycubic Mega Zero 3D Printer.

Abstract

This study examines the determination of garment production quantities at PT. Istana Garmindo Jaya using the Fuzzy Mamdani method. Garment companies often face challenges in setting optimal production targets due to various complex factors such as fluctuating market demand and unstable raw material availability. The Fuzzy Mamdani method is employed to address this issue by generating accurate target production outputs. The research findings indicate a balance of control between production quantities, market demand, and raw material inventory. However, the differences between manual calculations and those using MATLAB software suggest that the determination of production quantities is still suboptimal and requires further improvement.

Abstract

Welding using a welding carriage is carried out to get better results compared to manual welding. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the welding angle variation on the Weld Bead size. In this study, the welding method used is GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) using S550MC steel plate material using a voltage of 30.0 V and Wire Speed 8.0 m/s. Testing is carried out using several tools to measure the results of welding (weld bead), namely welding gauge and steel crossbar. This study was conducted by comparing the results of welding (weld beads) from different welding angles, namely 45º, 60º, and 90º angles. Measurement of angular variations in this test uses an inclinometer. The comparison results are seen based on the height and width of the weld bead, while for acceptance criteria using the 1e0099 welding general requirement standard with the condition of welding width of a maximum of 13 mm and a mechanical welding height of 2 mm. Based on the test results, welding at a 90° angle variation produces a weld bead that meets the acceptance criteria. In welding using an angle of 60 ° and 45 ° produces a weld bead that does not meet the acceptance criteria. From the experimental results it was found that the smaller the welding angle the size of the weld bead became wider

Abstract

Hand grinding machine is a crucial tool in the manufacturing industry for cutting and smoothing various materials, including large-sized plates. This study aims to design and create an auxiliary tool for hand grinding machines to facilitate the process effectively. The research methodology involves design planning, material collection, cutting, and assembly. Evaluation of time and cost is also conducted. The results indicate that the auxiliary tool was successfully constructed according to the design with slight increases in time and cost. Experiments demonstrate that the tool enhances efficiency in cutting large plates. In conclusion, this auxiliary tool effectively improves productivity and efficiency in plate cutting, providing a solution for manufacturing industries requiring swift and accurate plate processing.

Abstract

Changing green open space has a direct impact on the needs of public places such as public public places in open environments. West Tanjungpinang District is a sub-district that has the highest population density among other sub-districts in Tanjungpinang City, so this also has an impact on changing the amount of green open space (RTH) as vegetation land cover. The result of reduced green open space is caused by changes in land use. So this study aims to map changes in the pattern of green open space to conditions and to find out the availability of open space in West Tanjungpinang. Therefore the method or method applied in this research is NDVI or Normalized Defference Vegetation Index. The NDVI method uses data from the Pleiades satellite imagery for 2020. The availability of green open space in Tanjungpinang Barat District still has an area value of above 30%, which in 2020 has an area of more than 4% or 0.178 km2. Changes in green open space in the 2015 Green Open Space pattern have decreased compared to 2020 green open space of 0.267 km2. This means that there is a change in the area of green open space that has been planned in 2015 in a span of 5 years or an area of 6% of the total area.

Abstract

This research explores the issue of distortion in spool pipes within the context of the fabrication process, with a specific focus on pipe connections with flanges. The main objective of this study is to investigate the impact of distortion caused by the tacking process during fit-up and the sequence of welding sequences in the welding process. The experiments were conducted by collecting data through inspections of concentricity in the connections using the Total Station Sokkia CX 101 S/N GP1159 tool, with tolerances set at 1, and 0.75 for capping weld. Fabrication Piping and Structure Onshore served as the testing location, with ASTM A671 CC60-12 as the testing material. All tests were conducted at room temperature. The inspection results were used as a guide for the repair process, providing instructions to the Fitter for improving the connections and enabling the welder to maintain the precision of the pipe connections with flanges to avoid distortion. Based on the experimental results, the concentricity of pipe connections reflects the occurring distortion, while welding sequences show a counter effect at each welding step. The distortion after welding, measured at 0.75, still complies with client specifications.

Abstract

An overhaul was conducted for maintenance on Gas Turbine unit 2, type SGT 800 at PLTGU Tanjung Uncang, with the purpose of preventive maintenance. The operating hours of the gas turbine exceeded the maintenance schedule, reaching around 36,000 working hours, whereas maintenance should have occurred between 20,000 to 30,000 working hours. The discrepancy between the actual working hours and the standard maintenance schedule for the gas turbine was due to the Tanjung Uncang power plant operating on a base load system, requiring the turbine to run continuously for 24 hours. This study aims to analyze the thermal efficiency, heat rate, and specific fuel consumption before and after the overhaul. The method used in this study is the thermodynamic analysis calculation of the Brayton cycle. By performing thermodynamic analysis to determine the gas turbine's efficiency and calculating specific fuel consumption, heat rate, and thermal efficiency under load, the comparison of the gas turbine's efficiency values can be determined. The thermal efficiency after the overhaul increased by 5.17%. The heat rate after the overhaul decreased by 1867.806 kJ/kWh. The specific fuel consumption after the overhaul decreased by 0.037 kg/kWh. The overhaul impacted the maximum load that could be produced by gas turbine unit 2. Before the overhaul, the maximum load was 36 MW. After the overhaul, the maximum load increased to 45 MW. This increase in load is influenced by temperature, fuel flow rate, and pressure.
