Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the implementation and measure the level of teaching and learning activities during the implementation of WFH and SFH. The case studied is theory courses at Politeknik Negeri Batam. The implementation of work from home (WFH) and study from home (SFH) is a learning method that is carried out when there is an urgent situation, namely the outbreak of Covid-19 virus in the world. The research was conducted using a descriptive analysis method with a percentage. The data were collected using observation sheets, questionnaires, and analyzed using a Likert scale. The results of the observations stated from 15 lecturers shows that 99.77% of lecturers carried out indirect online learning and 0.333% of them carried out direct online learning. The sample of this study is 120 students who were taken randomly from all of Politeknik Negeri Batam students taking general education as the population. The results of the hypothesis testing using SPSS stated that there is a positive effect of the implementation of WFH and SFH on teaching and learning activities by 43.9% and the t test results in a significant value of 0.00 <0.05 from the real level. The results of the tcount (9,610) > t table (1.986) so it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, that there is a positive effect of the application of WFH and SFH on teaching and learning activities with the indicators of teaching and learning activities for the WFH and SFH method being Achievement, Critical thinking, Communication Interaction, Teaching Role, and Evaluation system.

Abstract

Organisasi Mahasiswa merupakan wadah dan sarana untuk menyalurkan kreatifitas dan potensi di bidang penalaran dan keilmuan, minat dan bakat, upaya perbaikan kesejahteraan mahasiswa, dan pengabdian pada masyarakat. Keaktifan mahasiswa dalam berorganisasi mempunyai manfaat untuk memperluas jaringan, melatih jiwa kepemimpinan (leadership), melatih mental berbicara di depan publik (public speaking), mudah memecahkan masalah (problem solving) dan juga meningkatkan wawasan dan pengetahuan Mahasiswa. Politeknik Negeri Batam merupakan salah satu perguruan tinggi vokasi di Kepulauan Riau yang cukup aktif dalam kegiatan organisasi mahasiswa namun sampai saat ini, dalam menjalankan proses administrasi masing-masing ormawa masih menggunakan cetakan kertas dan dikelompokkan menjadi arsip dokumen, sehingga membutuhkan waktu yang banyak dan rentan kehilangan dokumen. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sistem informasi yang dapat membantu kendala tersebut. Pada penelitian ini akan dibangun sistem informasi organisasi mahasiswa (SIOMAH) berbasis website yang dapat mempermudah mahasiswa, organisasi mahasiswa, pembina dan bagian kemahasiswaan untuk mengetahui kegiatan kemahasiswaan dan juga memudahkan dalam proses administrasi organisasi mahasiswa. Metode pengembangan menggunakan waterfall, bahasa pemrogaraman menggunakan PHP dan MySQL sebagai basis data. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah website yang dapat digunakan sebagai transaksi dan informasi data administrasi organisasi mahasiswa.

Abstract

Permasalahan utama pada penelitian ini merujuk kepada semakin menurunnya daya tahan tubuh lanjut usia (lansia). Hal ini membutuhkan sistem monitoring aktivitas lansia secara real time. Untuk mendeteksi kegiatan para lansia, dirancang sebuah perangkat monitoring dengan accelerometer 3-sumbu dan gyroscope 3-sumbu. Data sensor diperoleh dari lima partisipan. Setiap partisipan melakukan lima gerakan yaitu terjatuh, duduk, tidur, rukuk dan sujud. Gerakan yang dipilih adalah gerakan yang menyerupai gerakan jatuh. Total data yang diperoleh dari partisipan adalah 75 data yang terbagi menjadi training data dan testing data. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode transformasi Wavelet untuk mengenali fitur dari gerakan. Untuk pengklasifikasian setiap gerakan, digunakan metode K-nearest neighbors (KNN). Hasil klasifikasi gerakan menggunakan lima kelas menghasilkan nilai root mean square sebesar 0.0074 dengan akurasi 100%.

Abstract

Water destilator merupakan alat yang digunakan untuk menyuling air laut menjadi air tawar. Konsepnya sederhana dan serupa dengan siklus hidrologi, yaitu dengan menguapkan air laut dengan cara dipanaskan, yang kemudian uap air tersebut diembunkan dan dikumpulkan ke dalam suatu wadah penampung sehingga didapatkan air tawar. Sumber panas yang dipergunakan berasal dari energi yang beragam: minyak, gas, listrik, tenaga matahari dan lainnya, namun dikarenakan menerapkan konsep ramah lingkungan alat ini hanya mengandalkan cahaya matahari sebagai energinya. Alat destilator ini adalah alternatif sederhana yang ekonomis dan dapat digunakan dalam skala rumah tangga serta ramah lingkungan. Alat ini merupakan pengganti sistem destilasi pabrik dengan harga yang relatif mahal dan masih sulit dijangkau oleh penduduk Indonesia. Jenis teknologi tersebut cukup sulit karena teknologinya rumit dan membutuhkan investasi dan estimasi dana yang tinggi dalam skala rumah tangga. Destilasi dapat terjadi dengan memanfaatkan potensi alam yaitu sinar matahari menggantikan bahan bakar minyak dan gas alam untuk mengubah fase uap air laut. Karena suhu yang diperlukan untuk mengubah fase air laut menjadi uap tidak terlalu besar (dibawah 100oC) atau di bawah satu tekanan atmosfir (1 atm), maka pemanfaatan energi matahari adalah solusi alternatif yang dipilih sesuai dengan kondisi Indonesia yang terletak pada daerah katulistiwa dan beriklim tropis mempunyai jumlah sinar matahari yang cukup.

Abstract

The terror of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic that is happening right now becomes more and more intimidating with the rapid circulation of information in massive quantities about this outbreak. Of the various news coming out every day, some are valuable, others might be less useful. However, some of them may cause more harm than good. The problem is how to sort the incoming information and determine whether it is reliable. In this community service project, a public service announcement will be produced with the intention of informing the public about some rumors and misconceptions that have been spreading in society. It is hoped that the announcement will unravel the truth and clear any confusion that is happening. The content of the announcement is based on the Myth Busters page on the official WHO website. It will then be broadcasted by Batam TV. To find out how the viewers perceive the public service announcement, an online survey is conducted, which can be accessed by the viewers by scanning the QR code displayed at the end of the announcement. The results of the survey show that most viewers consider the announcement easy to understand, useful, up to date, and motivating, in addition to having a good mix of attractive colors and clear sound. However, public service announcements on local television channels are no longer the main source of information for citizens of Batam, especially in the context of COVID-19.

Abstract

Abstract—The natural charm of the small islands in Kepulauan Riau can definitely spoil visitors’ eyes and attract their attention to visit these islands. Pulau Mubut Darat, which is located in Sembulang, Batam, Riau Islands, has become one of several choices of beach tourism areas. However, in the management of tourist sites, the community and managers in particular have not been able to implement ideas and supporting facilities to satisfy the tourists who come to visit so the tourist area of ​​the island of Mubut Darat began to lose competitiveness with other areas. The observation results of the Politeknik Negeri Batam community service team found several ideas that could help improve promotion and tourist attraction on Mubut Darat. One of them is by making a location plan or POI information sign in the Mubut Darat area. The method of making this sign begins with taking pictures of the entire Mubut Darat island. Then, the location points of each building and the facilities available in each area will be mapped and labeled. With the information signpost of the location plan or POI, tourists will get complete information about Mubut Darat. The location plan or POI information sign is expected to be part of the tourist photo icon on Mubut Darat which can promote and attract of tourists to come.

Abstract

Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk melatih kemampuan Bahasa Inggris para santri dan ulama di Kota Batam guna meningkatkan skor tes kemampuan bahasa Inggris mereka. Sertifikat kemampuan bahasa Inggris menjadi salah satu syarat yang paling umum untuk studi lanjut, khususnya jika ingin mendaftar pada program beasiswa. Sama seperti pendaftar lainnya, beberapa ulama dan santri kesulitan mencapai skor tes minimal yang dicantumkan dalam syarat pendaftaran beasiswa. Oleh karena itu dibutuhkan pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan Bahasa Inggris para santri dan ulama. Kegiatan pengabdian ini diselenggarakan ini sebanyak 7 kali pertemuan dengan metode hybrid, yaitu daring dan luring dengan memanfaatkan platform daring yaitu Google Form. Kuesioner diedarkan secara daring kepada para peserta untuk mengukur tingkat keberhasilan kegiatan. Hasil dari pelatihan ini menunjukkan tanggapan positif terhadap kegiatan pelatihan ini. Kesan positif ini merupakan indikasi peserta pelatihan merasa lebih siap berhadapan dengan format tes dan mempunyai gambaran lebih jelas mengenai berbagai kemampuan yang diujikan dalam evaluasi kemampuan berbahasa Inggris ini.

Abstract

Continuity test Machine (CT) is a tool for detecting damage to the current connection on the AC plug cable. The problem with PT “V” is that it still uses a manual system. So that it is updated to an automatic continuity test machine by manual measurement using a "caliper" and another using an automatic continuity test machine (CT). The results obtained (CT) using a proximity sensor, photoelectric as a detector for the length of the pin connector and a Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system as a controller. Testing the accuracy of the tool using 12 plug and connector samples were the same, namely 10 plug and connector samples that were standard (19.05 +_0.2 mm) and 2 samples that were not standard. Tool performance testing is carried out operating for 184 hours or 23 working days. The results of data analysis found a significant increase, namely an average of 25.94% of the total test results used by the manual Continuity test machine (CT). Totally capable of increasing an average of 970 product units per month, with details reducing by -20.03% good products, increasing by 26.74% good products (standard)

Abstract

One of the biggest users of electrical energy in Batam City is the Batamindo Industrial Park area, so that area is required to have an electricity provider managed by the Batamindo Power House Division. To anticipate generation problems such as fuel gas trips in the power generation system, generation failures such as power disruption or even total blackouts, Power House Batamindo has a big responsibility. Power House Batamindo makes maximum and minimum power reserve limits. However, this can result in a large use of fuel for power generation and will also increase the cost of electricity production. In a converted generator engine, it will produce more power if it uses diesel fuel rather than gas. The results of research conducted for one month and data analysis carried out, as much as 84.7% of the installed spinning reserves are at 10-14 MW and as much as 5.1% are below the limit of the provision for spinning reserves (10-14 MW) which must be suppressed the numbers. The results of the research also prove that to prevent high diesel fuel emissions in generator engines, it is necessary to save diesel fuel by avoiding generation problems, one of which is paying the spinning reserve limit.

Abstract

The imbalance between labor supply and demand often leads to unemployment in a given region. The unemployment rate serves as a key indicator to assess the overall health of the economy. Utilizing Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) as a predictive tool has emerged as a reliable solution to forecast unemployment rates in Batam City, using 7 input parameters. The methodology employed in this predictive model is the Backpropagation algorithm. This involves dividing the dataset into two distinct components: training data, consisting of 4 parts, and the remaining data set aside for testing purposes. This division results in a substantial allocation of 95% for training data and a significant 79% for testing data. The accuracy achieved by this model forms the basis to evaluate its potential success in forecasting unemployment rates for the upcoming year. By harnessing the capabilities of Artificial Neural Networks and employing the Backpropagation methodology, it is possible to predict unemployment rates in Batam City. The outcomes of this analytical approach can serve as a reference to address labor imbalance issues, while also providing a pragmatic tool to enhance economic planning and policy formulation for a more sustainable future.
