Abstract

Albumin is a specific indicator to assess chronic energy deficiency (KEK) in pregnant women. Albumin functions as a protein that transports micronutrients in the blood. Low albumin levels can indicate KEK has occurred. This study aims to determine the relationship between protein intake and serum albumin levels for pregnant women in the first trimester of KEK in the city of Padang. This study was an observational correlative analytic study with a cross sectional approach. The sample in this study was 34 pregnant women in the first trimester of KEK with a proportional stratified random sampling technique. Interviews for protein intake using a modified semi quantitative food frequency questionnaire designed by Lipoeto were conducted at Pauh Puskesmas and Puskesmas Lubuk Kilangan while sample examinations were carried out at the Technical Implementation Unit of the West Sumatra Health Laboratory Service from June 2019 to November 2020. Data analysis used the Pearson correlation test. The results showed that the mean protein intake was 56.40 ± 14.612 g / day and the serum albumin level was 3.8 ± 0.604 g / dl. There is a significant relationship between protein intake (r = 0.467) and serum albumin levels. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between protein intake and serum albumin levels in pregnant women in the first trimester of SEZ in the city of Padang.

The high rate of population growth in Indonesia is a big problem and it requires attention and handling from all parties, both the community and the government. The government needs to anticipate the problems that occur, including the family planning program. In the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the national family planning program in Indonesia is still directed to the use of the Long-Term Contraceptive Method (MKJP). The purpose of this study was to determine the relation between mother's knowledge level, mother's attitude, and husband's support with the selection of long-term contraceptive method (MKJP) in the working area of the Ulak Karang Public Health Center. This study used a cross sectional design. The population in this study were all active family planning participants in the working area of the Ulak Karang Public Health Center, Padang. The sample in this study was 102 respondents. Data were collected by using questionnaires and data were analyzed by using Chi-Square. From the results of statistical tests, it shows that most of the mothers who use the MKJP contraceptive method have a sufficient level of knowledge of 54 (52.9%), mothers who have a positive attitude of 53 (52.0%), mothers whose husbands support of 54 (52.9 %) who used the MKJP contraceptive method. There is a relation between mother's knowledge level and the selection of a long-term contraceptive method (P=0.005); there is a relation between the mother's attitude and the selection of a long-term contraceptive method (P=0.029); there is a relation between husband's support and the selection of a long-term contraceptive method(MKJP) (p=0,020). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relation between the mother's knowledge level, mother's attitude, and husband's support amd the selection of long-term contraceptive method(MKJP).

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy is a problem that frequently occurs in pregnant women. It is a national health problem that will affect human resources in the future. Supplements in the government program to overcome the problem of anemia are by giving blood-added tablets and should be combined with vitamin C. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of vitamin C consumption on increasing hemoglobin and ferritin levels in pregnant women with anemia who received blood supplement tablets. This is a quasi-experimental design that uses a pretest and posttest approach with a control group. The research was conducted at the Pauh Public Health Center and the Health Laboratory Center. Data collection was carried out on January 02 – March 03 on 34 pregnant women with TM III who had anemia who were divided into two groups. Ferritin levels were checked by using ECLIA method and hemoglobin levels by a hematology analyzer. Normality test was done by using Shapiro Wilk and continued with T-test T-Independent and Dependent Test. The results showed that the average hemoglobin level before vitamin C consumption in the intervention group was 10.32 g/dL and the control group was 10.15 g/dL. Ferritin levels before the intervention group was 13.23 g/mL and the control group was 13.06 g/mL. Hemoglobin level after intervention was 11.75 g/dL and control 11.36 g/dL. Ferritin levels after intervention were 57.37 g/mL and control 50.91 g/mL. The results of the statistical test showed no difference in the increase in hemoglobin levels with a p value of 0.194 and a ferritin level with a p value of = 0.367 between the intervention and control groups. The conclusion in this study is that there was no difference in the increase in hemoglobin and ferritin levels of anemic pregnant women after consuming vitamin C between the intervention and control groups.

Abstract

Effect of knowledge, attitudes and family income on anemia in adolescents. One of the factors that influence the incidence of anemia as shown by Dreyfuss et al. (2000), is vitamin A deficiency. Another factor, namely lack of energy and protein consumption can also reduce hemoglobin levels in the blood (Berger et al., 1997). Research Objectives: To determine the relationship between knowledge of adolescent girls and the incidence of anemia in female high school students in Medan. This study aims to determine the relationship between the attitudes of young women to the incidence of anemia in high school students in Medan. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family income of adolescent girls and the incidence of anemia in female high school students in Medan. The study was conducted for two months starting from March to January 2020. The most dominant variable/the biggest influence on the incidence of anemia, seen from the largest OR value, was the attitude variable (P = 0.000). So that the attitude of young women has a chance of 10.931 times experiencing anemia, after being controlled by the variables of eating habits and menstrual patterns.
