Abstract

Anemia is a condition where the level of hemoglobin (Hb) in the blood is <12 g / dl. Teenagers have a high risk of anemia, especially iron nutritional anemia. Adolescent girls have a higher risk of anemia compared to boys because of some risk factors such as menstruation (too frequent frequency, too much blood coming out, and too long menstruation) etc. One way to overcome it is by food fortification. One of the foods that can prevent iron deficiency is dates and green beans. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of administration of dates palm juice and green bean extract on increasing levels of HB adolescent girls. This study uses a pretest and posttest research design with samples 13 respondents of the date palm juice group and 13 respondents of the mung bean juice group, with a sampling technique that is purposive sampling. Analysis of data using t-test dependent test with a degree of confidence <0.05. Statistical results are the influence of giving date palm juice with p value = 0.001 and green bean juice with p value = 0,000. The conclusion is that there is an effect of giving dates palm juice and green bean juice on increasing Hb levels in young women. It is hoped that students will understand correctly about nutritional needs to prevent anemia.

This aims to highlight the diagnostic points of pleural effusion due to malignancies or reactivation of latent infection. A 16 years old boy had been known to have an acute L2 lymphoblastic leukemia and history of pulmonary TB at 6 years old and recovered. Patient has recurrent fever, weight loss, and shortness of breath. Chest pain and decrease of breath sound at left hemithorax were found in physical examination. Chest x-ray showed left pleural effusion. Pleural tapping was performed and showed mononuclear predominant, indicated TB or malignancy. Adenosine deaminade (ADA) test was performed, it confirmed the diagnosis of TB pleural effusion. Patient received anti tuberculosis therapy plus prednisone.n Diagnosing TB in malignancies is challeingchallenging due to similarity of clinical manifestation, and patient with malignancy are in high risk for developing TB infection. ADA pleural test has a higher specificity and sensitivity in diagnosing pleural TB.

Abstract

Hypertonia, after stroke and tuberculosis, is the third leading cause of death. It is a degenerative condition in the elderly when nearly everyone sees a rise in blood pressure as they age. Treatment of hypertension may be pharmacological or nonpharmacological. Pharmaceutical therapy is often deemed prohibitively costly by others, prompting some to seek nonpharmacological care, including herbal medicine, which includes the use of celery. Celery is the most frequently seen plant in the neighborhood. Celery contains apigenin, which is beneficial for reducing blood flow narrowing and hypertension. This study aims to determine the efficacy of celery in treating hypertension, especially in elderly patients at the Matraman District Health Center. The study employed an unconventional one-group pretest-posttest setup with a control group. The sample size was five individuals, and the research was conducted using comparative analysis and paired t-tests using computerized statistical tools. The findings indicated a discrepancy in blood pressure both before and after the elderly were given celery, although the difference was not statistically meaningful.
