Abstract

TikTok is one of the results of advances in the world of technology that can make it easier for someone to do anything online. It is not surprising that most people today use various social media to disseminate the information they get, both in groups and individually. The purpose of the study is to get an overview of the feelings of insecurity among Satya Wacana Christian University psychology students who are addicted to TikTok social media, as well as the factors that affect insecurity that cause feelings of insecurity among Satya Wacana Christian University psychology students who are addicted to TikTok social media. This type of research is qualitative research with a phenomenological research design. Data collection in this study used interviews and observations of 3 participants. This study uses technical triangulation and time triangulation as a test of the credibility of the data. From the results of this study, it was found that the insecurity of the Satya Wacana Christian University psychology faculty students felt anxious and nervous about their own appearance, as well as a feeling of lack of confidence in their abilities. There are factors that affect the insecurity of Satya Wacana Christian University psychology students, namely comparing their work too much and comparing their physical appearance to other people who are more famous.

Abstract

FOMO is the worry, anxiety, or fear that a person experiences when he is not involved in an event, experience, or conversation in his social environment. A person with FOMO syndrome can have an impact on health. However, making purchases based purely on emotional needs creates the possibility of buying things that are not needed and can become uncontrollable behavior. The aim of this study was to find out that FOMO personality has a significant relationship with impulsive online buying addiction during a pandemic in adolescents at Alalak 1 high school. Test the hypothesis of this study using the Product Moment correlation technique. This test examines the relationship between FOMO personality (X) and impulsive online buying addiction (Y). The results of data calculations use the product moment correlation formula to find out how significant the correlation coefficient is between variable X and variable Y. Through these calculations, an r count of 0.616 is obtained with a significant level of 5%, an r table of 0.197 is obtained, which confirms that Fomo has a significant relationship to Addiction Impulsive online buying.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has had a devastating psychological impact on society, with the rise of online interaction failing to replace face-to-face interaction, particularly among undergraduate students. Loneliness is a prevalent mental health problem among students during the pandemic. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of e-journaling intervention in reducing loneliness among undergraduate students. A pre-experimental design was used, with 38 undergraduate students participating in writing activities in the form of journaling every weekday for two weeks. Pre and post-tests were given using the De Jong Giervield Loneliness Scale to evaluate loneliness. The results of a Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed no significant difference in loneliness before and after the intervention, with only 40% of participants showing a decrease in loneliness. This suggests that e-journaling intervention is not an effective way to reduce student loneliness during the pandemic. A randomized controlled study is recommended for further exploration of the efficacy of e-journaling intervention.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the differences of religious affiliation, tolerance, age, sex, and teaching experience based on the locus of control (LoC) of teachers in Lagos state, Nigeria. The sample for the study consisted of 600 teachers, with 353 female and 247 male participants, aged between 22 and 60 years, and conveniently selected from 20 secondary schools in Lagos State. The study used two instruments: the Adult Nowicki-Strickland Internal-External Control Scale (ANSIE) and the Tolerance Scale (TS). Data was analyzed using simple frequency count, mean, and t-test. Results showed statistically significant differences of age, teaching experience, and tolerance on LoC, but no significant differences of sex and religion. However, the participants’ level of LoC and tolerance were found to be high, at 96.5% and 64.2% respectively. The results of this study provide implications for counselor work with teachers in Lagos state. Based on the findings, it is recommended that counselors consider the impact of age, teaching experience, and tolerance on the locus of control of teachers when working with them. Counselors can also help teachers to further develop their internal locus of control. Additionally, these results could inform counselor education programs, providing guidance on developing the skills necessary to work with teachers and promote locus of control.

Abstract

Right after giving birth, a mother is faced with various roles and responsibilities while also undergoing the process of recovery. These experiences often bring out negative emotions, particularly for first-time mothers. If these negative emotions are not managed properly, they can worsen their conditions. This study aimed to gain an overview of the experience of regulating emotions during the postpartum period for primiparous mothers. The study used a qualitative approach through a case study method. In-depth interviews were conducted with three participants, who had given birth to their first child within the past six months, to gather data. The results of the data analysis, using thematic analysis, revealed four themes: Strategies for handling situations, strategies to shift attention, strategies for cognitive change, and strategies to change responses. The mothers reported feeling better after using strategies that allowed them to modify situations, appraise them positively, and express emotions rather than avoiding or suppressing them. The results of this study enhance our understanding of the experience of emotion regulation in primiparous mothers. Hence, mothers can benefit from these strategies for regulating emotions. Partners, parents, and counseling professionals around the mothers can encourage the use of these strategies to process negative emotions effectively.

Abstract

Marriage is a beneficial institution when it provides satisfaction to both partners. However, divorce rates have increased in Indonesia in the past five years, with Riau Province ranking eighth in the country with the highest divorce rate. This study aimed to investigate the extent to which adult attachment and religiosity influence the marital satisfaction of civil servants in Riau Province. Adult attachment dimensions were assessed using the Experience in Close Relationship (ECR) Scale Inventory, while religiosity was measured using The Four Basic Dimensions of Religiousness Scale (4-BDRS). Marital satisfaction was evaluated using the Marital Satisfaction Scale (MSS), which was adapted from the Marital Satisfaction Synder Inventory. The sample comprised 350 participants who met the eligibility criteria, selected using offline and online surveys through convenience sampling. The results of the multiple regression analysis revealed that the anxiety and avoidance dimensions of adult attachment, along with religiosity, jointly influenced the marital satisfaction of civil servants in the Riau Province government, accounting for 52.6% of the variance. The analysis also showed that the avoidance dimension of adult attachment had a more significant effect on marital satisfaction than the anxiety and religiosity dimensions. This study provides important information for the government to improve the marital satisfaction of civil servants in different regions of Indonesia.

Abstract

The prevalence of anxiety experienced by pregnant women during the Covid-19 pandemic could not be overlooked. This study aims to discover the various causes of anxiety experienced by pregnant women during the pandemic. After explaining the research objectives and obtaining informed consent, author interviewed seven pregnant women. All informant were married, majority of them were working, and all husbands of the interviewees also had permanent jobs. The data analyzed using an interpretive phenomenological approach. The study results show that four main themes cause anxiety in pregnant women amid a pandemic, namely immediate changes, health concerns, access to health services, and social isolation. This study highlights the prevalence of anxiety among pregnant women during covid-19 pandemic. It also emphasizes the importance of taking into consideration factors such as immediate changes, health concerns, access to health care, and social isolation while implementing intervention to reduce this issue. Furthermore, policymakers should prioritize these four main themes in arranging covid-19 mitigation guidelines or protocol specifically for pregnant women.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the correlates of entrepreneurial intention among a sample of high school students with neurodevelopment disorders. The study was conducted using a correlational survey research design. The research data were collected from one hundred college students diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders through the use of a questionnaire. The study findings indicated that attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control of these students with neurodevelopmental disorders were significantly linked to their entrepreneurial intention. The results of this study demonstrate the significance of the Theory of Planned Behavior in analyzing the entrepreneurial intention of Nigerian high school students diagnosed with neurodevelopmental disorders. It is critical for career counselors to assist students with neurodevelopmental disorders in identifying the skills or resources needed to succeed as entrepreneurs. Career counselors should guide them on how to mitigate any difficulties they might experience in finding an appropriate business venture that takes into account the severity of their disability.

Abstract

Entrepreneurial self-efficacy is an important factor in influencing new businesses for the success of woman entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial self-efficacy refers to individual beliefs about skills and abilities in running a business. This research aims to show how women entrepreneurs, policymakers, and institutions maintain new businesses and encourage women's participation or success in entrepreneurship. This type of research is quantitative. The sampling process was carried out using a random sampling technique. Authors are obtaining data using an online questionnaire with a Google form. The filling link was distributed to women business actors in the second week of August 2022. There were 235 respondents as MSME actors. The research results show that: 1) women manage 95 percent of MSME actors. 2) young people manage 96 respondents or 40.85%. From the study results, it can be concluded that: 1) women have many contributions and are driving the wheels of the economy. 2) Women in Indonesia start businesses at a young age to earn income, reduce unemployment and improve people's welfare.

Abstract

This article investigates the level of help-seeking among Indonesian students during the covid-19 pandemic. Using an online General Help-seeking Questionnaire, the author collected data from several provinces in Indonesia. A total of 411 (Perempuan = 308; Laki-laki = 103; M Usia = 15,61; SD = 1,57) participants were given their consent to be involved in the study. Results showed that 4 (four) primary sources of help will probably be accessed by students when they experience anxiety or fear during covid-19. Those are help from parents, doctors, family members other than parents, and mental health professionals. These findings imply that parents, doctors, family members, and mental health professionals play a significant role in supporting students. Furthermore, these findings also highlight the need for greater awareness and access to mental health services among Indonesian students. Finally, these sources of help should be prepared with first aid mental health skills to provide appropriate support for the students.
