Abstract

Gelotophobia is the fear of someone being laughed at or looking ridiculous in the eyes of others which can cause the individual to withdraw from the surrounding environment and experience symptoms such as palpitations, shaking, shortness of breath, difficulty speaking, or even no expression at all which begins in childhood as a child as a result of the failed relationship between the baby and his caregiver. These traumatic events are repeated because of being laughed at and ridiculed so that the bond between the child and his parents is not strong. This affects the emergence of gelotophobia in children, especially if the parents do not show affection and warmth. This study aims to determine the effect of parental attachment on the tendency of gelotophobia among children aged 16-18 years in Indonesia. This research uses a quantitative method with simple linear regression data analysis. The participants in this study were 443 people selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection using the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) instrument and the GELOPH-15 scale modified by the researcher and collected by questionnaires. The results showed a significant effect of parental attachment on the tendency of gelotophobia.

Abstract

Many people in Indonesia have been exposed to covid-19 since 2020. When suffering from covid-19, patients may experience some physical and psychological responses. Psychological responses experienced after being confirmed covid-19 are fear of clinical symptoms, inability to recover, becoming a burden to others, and fear of death. These responses can cause anxiety. This study aims to see the effect of social support on anxiety levels among Covid-19 survivors in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach by analyzing the influence between variables. The subjects in this study were 396 covid-19 survivors from age 19 until 34 in Indonesia. Data collection using 20 items from Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and 12 items from the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS). The data analysis uses simple linear regression. Based on the data analysis results, social support negatively affects anxiety levels among Covid-19 survivors when they are suffering from covid-19 (2.3%). At the same time, the other (97.7%) were influenced by other factors not measured in this study. This study also found that anxiety and social support didn’t significantly differ with gender, age, area, duration of exposure to covid-19, and treatment place.

Abstract

Employees are required to have readiness for change in facing changes that occur in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic so that performance is maintained correctly. This study aims to determine the relationship between readiness for change and the performance of industrial employees during the Covid-19 pandemic. The participants in this study were 100 industrial employees with a sampling technique, namely simple random sampling, spread across Semarang Regency and Semarang City, with an age range of 23-50 years. Data collection uses the Employee Performance Scale (EPS) by Halim (2016) and the readiness for change scale by Mubarak (2017). The results showed a positive relationship between the variables readiness for change and employee performance with a correlation coefficient of r = 458 and a significance of 0.000 (p<0.05). This means that the higher the readiness for change, the higher the performance of industrial employees during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results in this study, through readiness for change, can be used to maintain and improve the performance of industrial employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) is a tool designed to evaluate an individual's overall mental health and well-being, encompassing emotional, psychological, and social dimensions. Adopted in several countries, including Portugal, South Korea, Italy, and France, the present study aims to adapt the MHC-SF for the Indonesian context and assess its psychometric properties. The adaptation followed the ITC Guidelines for Adapting Tests, an international standard for adapting and psychometrically testing measuring instruments. The content validity was evaluated through the involvement of three experts and four reviewers in assessing the results of the Indonesian translation. Data was collected from a sample of 256 students, who participated by filling out an online questionnaire. The results of the content validity indicated that the 14-item instrument was relevant to the purpose of measuring well-being. Construct validity showed a three-factor structure (emotional well-being, psychological well-being, and social well-being) with a fit model, and all items had a factor loading value greater than .5, indicating their validity. The reliability test revealed consistent results with alpha coefficient values in the range of .7 to .8 for the three dimensions, demonstrating that the instrument can provide consistent results when used on the same individual in different situations. This study concludes that the Indonesian version of the MHC-SF is valid and reliable for assessing an individual's well-being.

Abstract

Honesty is a significant issue being investigated in the academic world due to the prevalence of dishonesty such as cheating and plagiarism among students. This research aims to examine the relationship between students' honesty and their moral disengagement and incivility perspectives. A correlational study was conducted with 636 students from two junior high schools in Central Java using cluster sampling. Participants completed the academic integrity scale, moral disengagement scale, and incivility scale. The results indicated that moral disengagement and incivility significantly predict students' honesty, as confirmed by the significant correlation (R = .41, F (13,622) = 9.57, p < .01). The study's results suggest that factors such as euphemistic labeling, dehumanization, unintentional incivility, and intentional incivility contribute to students' honesty. The findings of this study highlight the importance of addressing moral disengagement and incivility in educational settings. To promote honesty and positive behavior among students, educational institutions may consider implementing programs that address these factors and encourage positive moral reasoning and respectful behavior. Further discussion of these results is provided in the study.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between work-life balance and quality of life among employees in Central Java during the COVID-19 pandemic. The respondents in this study were 349 Central Java employees that were gathered by voluntary sampling. The measuring instrument used in this study was Fisher Work-life Balance Scale adapted by Gunawan, et al. (2019) with Crobach’s alpha coefficient of 0,877 and the Quality of life scale translated into Indonesian by the researcher herself based on the theory Flanagan Quality of Life (1978) with 0,850 of Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. From the Spearman Rho data analysis, the result showed (r = 0,281 ; p < 0,05) there is a correlation between work-life balance and the quality of life of Central Java employees during the COVID-19, so the hypothesis in this study is able to be accepted.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and work engagement of employees of the Child Development Center (YCI) cluster in Semarang Regency during the COVID-19 pandemic. The method used in this research is quantitative research with a correlation design. The participants in this study were 50 PPA cluster employees in Semarang Regency who felt the impact of working during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research instrument uses 2 (two) measuring instruments, namely General Self Efficacy (GSE) which has been translated into Indonesian and has been modified so that it can be understood by research subjects belonging to Ralf Schwarzer et al. from Freie University, Berlin (2002) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. (UWES) by Bekker and Leiter (2010). The data analysis technique in this study used the Pearson product-moment correlation test; there was a positive and significant correlation between self-efficacy and work engagement with a correlation coefficient of 0.405 with a significance value of 0.002 (p < 0.005). This means that the higher the level of self-efficacy, the higher the work engagement. Conversely, the lower the level of self-efficacy, the lower the level of work engagement that is owned. The results of this study can be used as a basis for activities to increase work engagement to achieve maximum performance for the success of the organization or company.

Abstract

The demands of the Civil Servants who always optimally carry out their duties to serve the community cause them to be vulnerable to work stress. Sustained work stress on the Civil Servants can result in burnout or boredom at work for the employee. One of the factors that influence the occurrence of burnout is social support. Therefore, this study will examine the relationship between social support from colleagues and superiors and burnout in the Civil Servants in two Salatiga city government agencies. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Participants in this study were all Civil Servants in two Salatiga City Government agencies, totaling 150 employees. The sampling technique used in this research is saturation sampling technique. This research instrument uses a scale of social support and burnout scale. This data analysis uses the Rank Spearman correlation test. This study's results indicate a significant negative relationship between social support and burnout in civil servants in two Salatiga City Government agencies. This can be seen from the Rank Spearman correlation value of -0.412 with a Sig. (1-tailed) of 0.000 Sig. (1-tailed) of 0.05. The results of this study indicate that the higher the social support, the lower the level of burnout in the Civil Servants in the two Salatiga City Governments. Conversely, the lower the level of social support for the Civil Servants in the two Salatiga City Government agencies, the higher the burnout rate.
