Abstract

In carrying out their profession, there are many challenges that special schoolteachers face every day. Special schoolteachers often face complex and challenging situations such as the emotional situations of diverse students and high emotional intensity, so that indirectly special schoolteachers are required to have the ability to manage emotions well to prevent things that can stress teachers. This is called emotional regulation, namely the process of individuals recognizing their emotions, knowing when their emotions appear, and how to show them. Teachers who can control their emotions can create a good and enjoyable learning environment, but teachers with poor emotional regulation skills will lead to undesirable things, one of them is work burnout. Work burnout is an individual response to emotional and interpersonal stressor which keeps happening in workplace. This research aims to find out whether there is a relationship between emotional regulation and work burnout in special schoolteachers. This research uses quantitative research methods and uses gforms to distribute questionnaires to participants. Participants for this research were 233 teachers who worked in Special Schools in the Jakarta area. The measuring instruments used in this research were the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey. The results of the research show that there is a negative and significant relationship between work burnout and emotional regulation in Special School teachers in the Jakarta area.

Abstract

Education influences the quality of employee work. Some employees ultimately choose to attend lectures to train the skills needed by the company. Based on the needs of these employees, the university finally provides employee classes. However, employees who attend lectures will have two demanding roles as employees and students, this will result in role conflicts between the two. The problem with studying while working is that it is not easy to divide your time between studying, working, rest, and other matters. This research aims to determine the relationship between self-regulated learning and student engagement among student employees at the Faculty of Psychology, Proclamation 45 University, Yogyakarta. The hypothesis proposed in this research is that there is a positive relationship between self-regulated learning and student engagement among student employees at the Faculty of Psychology, Proclamation 45 University, Yogyakarta. The sampling technique in this research was to use a probability sampling technique of proportionate random sampling by taking 50% of the population, with a total sample of 112 student employees. The data analysis method used is Karl Pearson's Product Moment correlation and the data collection method uses the self-regulated learning scale and student engagement scale. The results of the research show a relationship between self-regulated learning and student engagement among student employees at the Faculty of Psychology, Proclamation 45 University, Yogyakarta with values of r = 0.818 and p = 0.000, so the hypothesis is accepted. The effective contribution of self-regulated learning to student engagement is 66.91%, the results of additional analysis show that the motivation dimension is 27.43%, the method dimension is 10.65%, the performance results dimension is 15.68% and the social environment dimension is 13.98%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to understand the effectiveness of personal branding based on the concept of the bigfive personality traits, which act as predictors of self-image among vocational high school students. Personalbranding is the process of creating, positioning, and maintaining a positive self-image, which is increasingly relevantin today’s educational and professional environments, especially for vocational high school students. Personalitytraits which reflect individual’s beliefs and tendencies in behavior, are crucial in shaping personal branding. In thisstudy, the subjects consist of 100 students from SMK X in Tangerang City. Data were collected through an e-surveyusing two main instruments: Personal Brand Equity (PBE; Gorbatov et al., 2020), which measures three dimensionsof personal branding—brand appeal, brand differentiation, and brand recognition —and an adaptation of the NEOPersonality Inventory (NEO-PI-R; Costa & McCrae, 1992), which measures five dimensions of personality traits—neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Based on the analysis usingSpearman’s Correlation Test, the results are as follows: (a) personal branding cannot be predicted by the neuroticismdimension of the personality traits; (b) personal branding can be partially predicted (brand appeal and branddifferentiation dimensions) by the openness to experience dimension of the personality traits; and (c) personalbranding can be predicted as a whole (brand appeal, brand differentiation, and brand recognition dimensions) by theextraversion, agreeableness, and conscientiousness dimensions of the personality traits. The results of this study havesignificant implications for educational institutions and companies in assisting vocational high school students indeveloping their personal branding.

Abstract

As students attain early adulthood, they begin to develop their self-concept. A person's overall perception of themselves, or self-concept, is shaped by their interactions with other people in daily life, which can change over time (Showers et al., 2015). Students who are in strong psychological health may be able to identify their strengths and weaknesses which can help with social adjustment issues. The ability to integrate into a social setting and meet social demands in a constructive and fulfilling way is known as social adjustment. Students who have made social adjustments may find it easier to relate to others and enjoy some social liberties. The purpose of the study was to investigate the relationship between university students' social adjustment and their self-concept. The Tennessee Self- Concept Scale (TSCS) is the instrument used to measure self-concept, and the Social Adjustment Scale, developed by Nadia Safitri (2010) and based on Schneiders' theory, is the instrument used to measure social adjustment. The study's findings demonstrate a strong positive correlation (r (101) = 0.554 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) between University X students' self-concept and social adjustment. Accordingly, it may be said that there is a unidirectional relationship between social adjustment and self-concept, the higher a student's level of social adjustment, the higher their self- concept. Good self-concept and social adjustment promote students' well-being and academic potential in the university environment.

Abstract

Self-esteem is defined as how a person treats himself, both positively and negatively, as well as a person's assessment of his thoughts and feelings in totality concerning himself. Lack of self-confidence can have an impact on students' lives, especially on their education. Students who should be able to have self-confidence, enjoy new things, and be optimistic in achieving certain goals, instead find it difficult to define themselves, worried about trying new things because they imagine failure that might occur. High self-esteem means that your self-efficacy in making career choices will also be better, so that the possibility of continuing your life to the next level will be better with decisions made correctly. Because of this, the importance of high self-esteem means that your self-efficacy in determining career choices will also be better, and vice versa. If the level of self-esteem is low, then the ability of self-efficacy in determining career choices will also be low. This research uses quantitative methods and Google Forms to distribute questionnaires to participants. Participants for this research were 296 high school students in the Tangerang area. In this study, the measuring instruments used were the Rosenberg self-esteem Scale (RSES) and career decision making self-efficacy (CDMSE). The research results show that self-esteem has a positive influence on CDMSE.

Abstract

Indonesia is expected to experience a demographic bonus between 2030 and 2040. Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, will contribute the most to the productive age workforce. This study aims to determine the relationship between the Big Five Personality trait of Conscientiousness and Career Adaptability in Generation Z. this study hypothesizes that there is a positive relationship between Conscientiousness and Career Adaptability in Generation Z, where a higher level of conscientiousness will be followed by a higher level of career adaptability in Generation Z. Conversely, the lower the level of conscientiousness, the lower the career adaptability in Generation Z. The sample for this study consisted of 168 respondents who are active Generation Z students in Yogyakarta aged 18-25 years. This study uses a quantitative correlation method with product-moment correlation data analysis techniques. The measurement tools used are the Career Adaptability Scale (CAAS) and the Conscientiousness Scale. The results show a positive correlation between Conscientiousness and Career Adaptability in Generation Z students (r = 0.559, p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.313, indicating that the Conscientiousness variable contributes 31% to Career Adaptability. Based on these results, it is suggested that students need to possess the personality trait of Conscientiousness or diligence to enhance their adaptability to career changes, which will influence their future.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the learning behavior of Indonesian Chinese teenagers attending both public and private schools, using the Learning Behaviors Scale (LBS) as a measurement tool. Education is considered a fundamental necessity for humans, with significant impacts on a country's progress. Based on PISA data, the quality of education in Indonesia remains low, leading this research to focus on internal factors impacting learning outcomes, specifically the learning attitudes of Chinese teenagers. The normality test results indicate that the data used in this research have a normal distribution, strengthening the validity of the analysis conducted. Out of the 29 items in the LBS grouped into four dimensions—Attitude Towards Learning (AL), Competence Motivation (CM), Strategy/Flexibility (SF), and Attention/Persistence (AP)—only 18 items passed the reliability test. The use of LBS as a measurement tool to assess the learning attitudes of Indonesian Chinese teenagers will aid educators in crafting more comprehensive and efficient teaching strategies. Furthermore, this research compares its findings with previous research and identifies differences in factor groups that can provide new insights into the learning behavior of ethnic minority teenagers in Indonesia. Through its contributions to both theoretical and practical realms of educational psychology, this research is poised to significantly impact the development of teaching strategies attuned to the diverse ethnic backgrounds of Indonesian students.

Abstract

Quality education can affect motivation for learning. One of the factors that influences motivation in learning is psychological well-being (PWB). Some previous research found that there are differences in results between PWB and learning motivation when viewed from gender. Therefore, this study was conducted to know the relationship between psychological well-being and student learning motivation, as well as the description of PWB and learning motivation when viewed from gender. This research is processed with a quantitative approach. The participants selected in the study were 400 Tarumanagara University students aged 18-21 years. Data collection was done using a questionnaire. The results of this study show that there is a positive and significant relationship between PWB and students' learning motivation (r = 0.676, p < 0.01); and there is no significant difference in learning motivation and PWB when viewed from gender. Thus, this study is expected to help students to better understand the importance of PWB in increasing their learning motivation.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the high level of academic procrastination among students, which negatively impacts academic performance. The main objective of this study is to analyze the influence of self-regulation, peer environment, and task aversiveness on academic procrastination among students in the S1 Economic Education study program. The urgency of this research lies in the importance of understanding the factors that influence procrastination behavior to develop preventive strategies. The variables examined include self-regulation, defined as students' ability to manage their learning processes; peer environment, encompassing interactions and support among peers; and task aversiveness, referring to negative perceptions of tasks. The measurement tool used is a questionnaire consisting of 45 statements, distributed online to 106 respondents using simple random sampling. The research method employed is descriptive quantitative with regression analysis to test the relationships among the variables. The results indicate that self-regulation and peer environment have no significant effect on academic procrastination, while task aversiveness has a positive and significant impact. The conclusions drawn from this study emphasize the need for attention to task aversiveness in efforts to reduce academic procrastination among students.

Abstract

The transition from secondary school to higher education is a critical phase filled with various academic challenges that may affect students’ subjective well-being, both cognitively and affectively. University students are required to adapt to new learning environments, increasing academic demands, the need for independence, and the pressure to perform optimally. These challenges often impact students' mood, emotions, and overall life satisfaction. Therefore, subjective well-being is an essential component in understanding students' quality of life and their capacity to cope with academic stress. This study aims to describe the subjective well-being of students at University X Jakarta. A descriptive quantitative research method was employed using purposive sampling, involving 114 student participants. The research instrument used was a Likert scale ranging from 1 to 4. The results indicate that students' overall level of subjective well-being is categorized as moderate (63.2%). The mean score for the positive affect dimension was 1.92, the negative affect dimension was 2.46, and the life satisfaction dimension was 2.03. An independent t-test revealed a significant difference in subjective well-being based on gender (Asymptotic Significance 0.048 < 0.05), with female students demonstrating a higher level of subjective well-being compared to male students. These findings imply the importance of developing psychological well-being support services on campus, such as counseling services, stress management programs, and emotional capacity strengthening strategies. Such efforts are expected to help students cope with academic challenges and improve their overall quality of life during higher education.
