Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology and the internet makes it impossible for humans to be separated from using it. One of the developments used is social media. Social media is a collection of internet-based applications and interactions between users. Through social media we can share information and build social connections virtually. While it has benefits, it also brings challenges, such as the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO). FoMO is a fear experienced by individuals due to missing out on events that only other individuals have. The impact can be experienced by every individual so self-regulation is very necessary. Self-regulation is a behavior that helps to focus on achieving future goals. High school students are teenagers who are studying at a secondary level. Teenagers need to have self-regulation to be able to manage themselves to achieve their desired goals. This study aims to determine the role of self-regulation as a moderator in the relationship between FoMO and social media use in high school students. A quantitative study with 301 participants. The measuring instruments used were SMUQ, FoMOs, and SSRQ. The results show that FoMO has a positive relationship with social media use, with a p-value = 0.000 <0.05, which means that the higher the FoMO, the higher the use of social media. However, there is no role of self-regulation as a moderator in the relationship between FoMO and social media use in high school students because the MRA test p-value = 0.326 > 0.05.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Indonesia has had a major impact in various fields, including the world of work. These changes require individuals, especially students who also work, to adapt in order to remain relevant to the needs of the labor market. One factor that plays a role in preparing for these challenges is AI Awareness, which is an individual's understanding of the existence, function, and impact of AI in everyday life. Meanwhile, Self-Perceived Employability relates to an individual's confidence in their ability to obtain, maintain, and develop a sustainable career. This study aims to determine the relationship between AI Awareness and Self-Perceived Employability among students who also work. This study uses a quantitative approach with convenience sampling techniques. The participants consisted of 103 students from various universities who were recruited through an online questionnaire using Google Forms. The research instruments used included two scales, namely AI Awareness and Self-Perceived Employability. The results of the data analysis showed a significant positive relationship between AI Awareness and Self-Perceived Employability among working students. The results show that the higher the students' awareness of the role and impact of AI in the world of work, the higher their confidence in obtaining, maintaining, and developing their careers. This study is expected to contribute to higher education strategies in preparing students to face the dynamics of the job market in the digital technology era.

Abstract

Waste management is a shared responsibility, including for teachers in Special Schools (SLB). Teachers play an important role in fostering students’ environmental awareness, one of which is through recycling waste into creative and educational learning media. However, many teachers are still unable to carry out this effort optimally in their daily teaching and learning activities at school. One factor that may influence this ability is self-efficacy, defined as a person’s belief in their own capacity to perform specific actions. This study aims to empirically examine the relationship between self-efficacy and innovative behavior among SLB teachers in processing waste into learning materials. A total of 68 out of 99 teachers from six SLB schools in District X participated as research samples. Data were collected using two psychological scales, namely the Self-Efficacy Scale and the Innovative Behavior Scale, and analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test. The results show a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and innovative behavior (r = 0.353; p < 0.01). This indicates that the higher the teacher’s self-efficacy, the greater their tendency to behave innovatively in developing school learning activities. Self-efficacy contributed 12.46% to innovative behavior, while the remaining 87.54% was influenced by other factors. Additional tests revealed no gender differences, but significant differences based on years of service.

Abstract

Personality development in elementary school-aged children serves as a crucial foundation for shaping character, thought patterns, and social behavior that will carry into adolescence and adulthood. Understanding the personality traits of elementary students is an important factor in predicting their academic achievement. The dynamics of personality development, particularly in rural areas, possess unique and complex characteristics. Factors such as close-knit social environments, strong local cultural values, and limited access to educational facilities play a significant role in shaping children's personalities in these regions. Ciherang Village, located in Cianjur Regency, West Java, is one such rural area with distinct social and educational characteristics. In the context of primary education, challenges such as limited infrastructure, restricted access to learning resources, and a shortage of qualified educators can influence both the learning process and the psychological development of students. Amid these conditions, understanding students' personality traits becomes increasingly vital. This study aims to provide an overview of the personality profiles of elementary school students in Ciherang Village using a descriptive quantitative approach. A total of 154 students from several elementary schools in the village participated in this research. The instrument used was a questionnaire consisting of 48 items assessing five personality dimensions: Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. The analysis revealed that most participants scored high in Agreeableness and low in Neuroticism. These findings suggest the need for implementing collaborative learning systems and relational approaches to support students' optimal personality development.

Abstract

Nowadays, everyone can watch visual entertainment on a variety of electronic devices that are connected to the internet via Over the Top (OTT) service providers. With OTT services, individuals are free to watch various TV series titles without time or location constraints, indicating full control over these OTT services. Individuals with complete control can engage in a binge-watching experience. Binge watching is defined as the activity of watching at least three episodes of a TV series in one sitting. Intense binge-watching can influence people's lives, particularly their poor sleep quality. Sleep quality is defined as one’s level of satisfaction with their sleep. Thus, self-control is critical in reducing these effects. Self-control refers to an individual’s capacity to regulate their state and responses. This study aims to investigate self-control as a moderator in the association between binge watching and sleep quality in university students. Participants in this study will be (a) university students, (b) aged 18 to 25 years old, (c) with access to OTT/streaming platforms, (d) engage in binge watching at least three episodes of a TV series in one sitting, and (e) willing to complete the provided questionnaires. Based on research findings, self-control shows no moderating effect on the association between binge-watching and sleep quality.
