Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the academic peer support dimension on school engagement at SMP "X" in Bandung. The subjects in this study were the entire population of SMP "X" students with a total of 160 students out of 171 students (there were 4 students who were not willing and 7 students not present. The measuring tool used is Academic Peer Support using the PFASS (Perceived Peer/Friend Academic Support Scale) measuring tool compiled by Jennifer Chen (2005) based on Jennifer Chen`s theory and has been translated by researchers, consisting of 25 items with a reliability of 0.744. The School Engagement measuring tool was developed by Alvin Gultom (2020) based on Friedricks' theory (2004), consisting of 27 items with a reliability of 0.722. This research method uses the effect method which is analyzed by linear regression test using the SPSS 21.0 Version Program. Based on data processing, the results showed that there was a significant influence on the dimensions of academic peer support on school engagement (F = 11,500, R2 = 22.9%; p <0.05), namely interpersonal support (ß= 0.22 , p > 0.05), cognitive support (ß = 0.646, p < 0.05), emotional support (ß = 0.243 , p > 0.05) and instrumental support (ß = 0.243, p > 0.05). Suggestions from researchers are facilitating the occurrence of cognitive support from peers to other fellow students. Cognitive support can be obtained by involving students who excel in groups to support students who have learning difficulties.

Abstract

The number of students who continue to increase causes students to have to better prepare themselves so that they are ready to find work after graduating from college. One of the efforts to prepare students is to carry out internship activities. Internship activities aim to improve abilities and competencies through direct practice in the field. Internship activities can also improve the work readiness of students. However, students who carry out internships have greater demands than students in general. Unmanageable demands can cause students to experience stress. This study aims to look at the description of stress on intern students in Jabodetabek. This research was conducted using a descriptive quantitative method involving 100 apprentice student participants in Jabodetabek. This study used the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) developed by Cohen et al. (1983). The results of this study were 71% of participants experienced moderate stress. The results of different tests conducted on the demographic data of gender and duration of apprenticeship showed values of 0.288 and 0.632. This value is greater than 0.05 which indicates that there is no significant difference between stress based on the demographic data. The factor that most caused the participants to experience stress was the occupational factor of 54.6%.

Abstract

Students carrying out lectures will certainly experience academic challenges and demands, especially final year students. Academic challenges and demands faced include social adjustment, course learning, time management, and organizational tasks. Academic challenges and demands can trigger stress due to poor time management in completing assignments, lack of self-control and a feeling of anxiety about the pressure experienced. In facing challenges, there are students who have academic resilience within themselves and there are also students who do not have academic resilience within themselves. Academic resilience is the internal capacity to face difficulties that will become a major threat to the student's education. One of the supporting factors for the formation of academic resilience is parental social support. Parental social support is a helping hand from parents in the form of emotional, informative, instrumental support, appreciation which illustrates the bond between parents and children. The social support parents provide to children can provide a sense of security and comfort in facing every challenge they are facing. This research aims to determine the relationship between parental social support and academic resilience in final year students at University X. The participants in this research were 313 final year students at University X. This research collects quantitative correlational data using a questionnaire. The measuring instruments used in this research are the Social Provisions Scale (SPS) and The Academic Resilience Scale-30 (ARS-30). The results of correlation data analysis in this study showed a positive and significant correlation (r = 0.740 and p<0.05) between parental social support and academic resilience.

Abstract

Parenting is a parenting pattern given by parents to children to guide children. This study aims to determine the pattern of care given by parents to children allegedly closely related to the belief in the child to do something or what is called the child's self-confidence. The type of research used is this non-experimental quantitative correlational study using purposive sampling techniques with survey methods using two measuring instruments, namely the Personal Evaluation Inventory and the parenting scale developed by Chandra and Suyasa (2006) adaptation of Baumrind's theory (1991) through g-forms. Participants obtained in this study were 311 participants. All data obtained was processed using Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) using a correlation test. The results showed that there was a positive relationship between parenting style and self-confidence with the results of the correlation analysis showing that mother's parenting style had a strong positive correlation with student self-confidence (r = 0.742), as well as father's parenting style (r = 0.811).

Abstract

Bullying incidents involving adolescents are commonplace globally, and this persistent problem remains serious. Previous research has shown a correlation between self-concept and an individual's level of conformity; however, the correlation between self-concept, conformity, and bullying behavior needs further consideration. Thus, the purpose of this research is to investigate, using empirical methods, if bullying behavior, conformity, and self-concept are related. This research employs a quantitative research method using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. Data collection method utilized was the Likert scale. The subjects of this study were adolescents aged 12-22 years with a sample size of 150 participants. Using SPSS 25 and JASP 0.17.0.0 software, bivariate Pearson correlation tests were used to evaluate the data collected. Self-concept was examined in this study using the Self-Description Questionnaire III (SDQIII), which was translated into Indonesian. A questionnaire based on Baron and Byrne's conformity scale was used to measure conformity. The Bullying Scale, which Doğruer actually designed, was used to measure bullying behavior. There was no apparent correlation between conformity to bullying behavior and self-concept, according to the data processing results. These results suggest that more research is necessary because there is not enough data to support correlations or differences between the variables under research.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted education, limited students' social environment and decreasing their motivation to learn. In Indonesia, 7 out of 10 students revealed that they rarely study since the introduction of social restrictions. Motivation is an important aspect in the learning process, students with high motivation will strive for the best results. Learning motivation comes from internal and external drives that change behavior. Students need good self-regulation skills to manage internal and external motivational drives. Self-regulation contributes positively to academic achievement and predicts long-term educational success. This study aims to determine the effect of self-regulation on academic motivation of SMP X students. The participants in this study consisted of 141 students aged 11-15 years. The researcher used the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) and Personal Self-Concept (PSC) Questionnaire which have been translated into Indonesian. Results showed a significant positive effect between self-regulation and academic motivation, with R2 = 0.135, F value = 7.12, and p value of 0.00 < 0.5. This indicates higher student self-regulation correlates with higher academic motivation. Effective self-regulation strategies can help increase student motivation amid pandemic-like disruptions.

Abstract

Good quantity and quality of sleep contribute to a healthy sleep condition, while poor quantity and quality of sleep can be caused by revenge bedtime procrastination. Revenge bedtime procrastination is the decision to sacrifice sleep time to free up time from a busy daily schedule. In Indonesia, there is a limited amount of research on the description of revenge bedtime procrastination among students. Therefore, this study aims to explore the behavior of revenge bedtime procrastination among students. The research method applied is a descriptive method with a quantitative approach, utilizing the Bedtime procrastination Scale (BPS) as the research instrument. Based on the research results regarding revenge bedtime procrastination among students, it can be concluded that the majority of students experience a high level of bedtime procrastination (59.5%), followed by a moderate level (39.6%), and a low level (0.9%). The majority of respondents (93.8%) state that a busy daily schedule leads them to delay bedtime. This indicates a significant correlation between a hectic daily schedule and the tendency towards bedtime procrastination. The study also highlights that a significant portion of students (63.2%) delays bedtime due to involvement in specific activities. Factors such as gadget use (26.5%) and difficulty sleeping (10.3%) also make a significant contribution to delaying bedtime. The research findings reveal no significant differences in revenge bedtime procrastination based on gender, age, education level, disturbance with daily schedules, and reasons for delaying bedtime.

Abstract

Students have the opportunity to work in real life or internship activities to channel the theory that has been obtainedin lectures. The purpose of internship activities is to provide students with a real picture of the world of work, so thatstudents can get used to it and have a high level of work readiness after graduation. Lecture activities and workschedules result in dual roles resulting in difficulty achieving work-life balance. Work-life balance is a balance of theuse of time, energy, goal achievement, and tension in work and personal life. The purpose of this study was to see apicture of work-life balance in MSIB Batch 6 internship students in Jakarta. This study used a quantitative methodwith 107 participants. This study uses the Work/Nonwork Interference and Enhancement Scale measuring instrumentprepared by Fisher and has been adapted into Indonesian. Reliability in this study α = 0.847 Meanwhile, validitytesting shows 0.302 - 0.753 > 0.188, P = 0.00 < 0.05 and Pearson Correlation is positive, so this study is valid. Theresults of this study indicate that the normality test was carried out using the one sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov testmethod (P = 0.000 <0.05) so that the data in the study were said to be not normally distributed. This study shows thatthere is no difference in work-life balance between women and men (P = 0.174 > 0.05), there is no difference basedon the age of the participants (P = 0.335 > 0.05), there is no difference based on the semester of the internship (P =0.348 > 0.05). The results of this research show that the average work-life balance score for MSIB Batch 6 internstudents is 2,664, this score is considered low using the Likert scale calculation.
