Abstract

Library practices in schools exert significant influence on students’ learning attitude and behavior. This paper explores the existing situation of library practices in community and institutional schools of Nepal. Despite a number of options to educate students in school from library-use, library provision and its existing practices in community and institutional schools in Nepal are still unsearched. In context students study only during the time of their class, assignment and examination preparation, how the schools make use of library for the promotion of students’ learning is the main concern of the study. Information for the study was collected from fieldnotes and lived experiences of eight participants: one teacher and one student from each of four schools: two institutional and two community. The study found that teachers in community schools occasionally visit the library and rarely encourage their students to benefit from the library. However, some students were found to borrow books from the library. As students in institutional schools have library period once a week, they enjoy reading books or doing something in the library. Overall library practice in Nepal lacks adequate proficiency in management, administration, and provision of study materials; and ultimately has not motivated students’ hearty participation.

Abstract

Quality higher education plays a significant role in socio-economic development of a nation. Education service quality is one of the important parameters to measure the quality of higher education. The main purpose of this study was conducted to examine the persisting challenges in Ethiopian higher education. To this end, a qualitative research approach was followed. The data for the study were collected via document analysis, focus group discussions and interviews. A total of 89 research papers written on the Ethiopian higher education expansion and its quality was thoroughly reviewed. During the reviewing process, various government policy documents, peer reviewed articles, PhD dissertations, and empirical studies were consulted. The findings of the study revealed that even though different quality improvement programmes have been established to control the quality of Ethiopian higher education, those efforts brought low impact on the country’s higher education quality. The shortage of experienced teachers, insufficient supplies of academic resources such as Information Communication Technology [ICT] infrastructure, library facilities, laboratory and workshop equipment, poor dormitory services, lack of adequate classrooms are still persisting challenges of most Ethiopian higher education. It was, therefore, concluded that most Ethiopian higher education institutions provide poor service delivery to students. Based on these findings and conclusions, recommendations were forwarded.

Abstract

The study aimed to address the concept of financial and banking defaults and to identify performance indicators and their role in predicting financial defaults in the research sample banks. Developing a standard model consisting of a set of financial ratios capable of distinguishing between troubled banks and non-performing banks. And testing the ability of the proposed model to distinguish between troubled and non-performing banks. Logistic regression model was used to test the research data. The statistical method was used logistic regression analysis to interpret the relationship between a set of variables, and then apply the stepwise selection method through which models can be generated and the best model can be selected from the sum of financial indicators that can be applied and distinguish between troubled and non-performing banks, as the classification related to banks being (in troubled, not in troubled) showed that the total non-performing Iraqi banks are (6) and the non-performing banks are (9) out of the total (15) banks within the years of the research. The study concluded that financial stumbling has a great impact on many parties and parties, as financial stumbling affects the banks themselves as well as the owners and creditors, and it can result in large losses that lead the bank to bankruptcy. This is in addition to the pressures faced by the administration, foremost of which is the relinquishment of the position to a new administration.

Abstract

This paper focuses on Palembang Aviation Polytechnic cadets as students are directed to be able to form better personalities through mental, character, and physical development. Palembang Aviation Polytechnic forms the character of cadets who are disciplined, firm, and punctual. Cadets are required to take part in 8 hours of active learning by the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic's Cadet Code of Conduct (PT3). For time efficiency and ease of monitoring cadets' compliance with compulsory education, a data-based RFID tool was designed using an Arduino as an open and close system controller when a cadet taps an RFID card. Cadets are required to tap the RFID card that each individual has to ensure that cadets arrive and leave on time during learning hours. The system will not transmit data if cadets arrive before the specified time. After that, the data will be distributed to a spreadsheet as material for assessing each cadet.
