Abstract

This study investigated whether motivational beliefs (expectancy of success and value in research and practice related tasks) among master students predict the achievement related choices for graduation (thesis or non-thesis) and examined the likelihood of those motivational beliefs in thesis and non-thesis preferring group. Participants studied in various master programs of two universities in Cambodia completed the questionnaires about their expectancy of success and values toward research and practice related tasks and preferences of graduation. Results of logistic regression analysis revealed that, among the motivational beliefs, only cost in research indicated a significant predictor of graduation preferences (p = .003). Furthermore, the associated likelihood of thesis preferring group was anchored at students who have higher positive beliefs on cost in research (ß = 2.386, p = .003, Exp (ß) = 10.867, Odd = 986.9), interest in research (ß = .933, p = .431, Exp (ß) = 2.542, Odd = 154.2), utility in practice (ß = .835, p = .226, Exp (ß) = 2.306, Odd = 130.6), and attainment in research (ß = .218, p = .699, Exp (ß) = 1.243, Odd = 24.3) although the rest of expectancy-values components was not completely discriminated in its membership model. Implications of the findings to graduate programs and future direction are discussed.

Abstract

The importance of the research was to prepare qualitative exercises using the device (Vertimax) to develop the explosive ability of the arms and legs and the skill of long- shooting for young handball players. As well as knowing the effect of specific exercises using the device (Vertimax) to develop the explosive ability of the arms and legs and the skill of long-range shooting for young handball players. While the problem of the research was that there was a weakness in the explosive ability and the far shooting, so the player needs a high level of the explosive ability of the arms and legs in order to succeed the far shooting. Therefore, the researchers decided to develop specific exercises using the (Vertimax) device to develop the explosive ability of the arms and legs and the skill of long-range shooting for young handball players. As for the objectives of the research, it was to prepare qualitative exercises using the (Vertimax) device to develop the explosive ability of the arms and legs and the skill of long-range shooting for young players in handball. As well as knowing the effect of these specific exercises to develop the explosive ability of the arms and legs and the skill of long-range shooting for young handball players. As for the most important conclusions, it was represented that the specific exercises used on the device (Vertimax) have a positive effect on the development of the explosive power of the arms and legs and the skill of long-range shooting for young handball players. Therefore, the researchers recommend the need to use specific exercises using the (Vertimax) device to develop the explosive power of the arms and legs and the skill of long-range shooting for young players in handball.

Abstract

The entrepreneurship course in Chemistry Education or Tadris Kimia study program at three universities in South Kalimantan (Universtias Islam Negeri Antasari Banjarmasin, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), and Universitas Islam Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari Banjarmasin (UNISKA)) has not integrated chemistry studies. In addition, there is also no chemo-entrepreneurship book that can be used as a reference in the entrepreneurship course. Therefore, a Research and Development (R&D) was carried out to develop a chemo-entrepreneurship book on local care and global literacy as an effort to popularize chemistry and develop life skills in the industrial revolution era 4.0. The book was developed using the Borg and Gall model with the modification of the study steps only to the limited trial stage. Based on the results, the book (chemo-entrepreneurship book entitled “peduli lokal, melek global”) is very valid and feasible to use (revision according to suggestions), besides being practical with a good linguistic aspect.

Abstract

Module is considered important in distance learning as a self-study guide for students. The importance of module in the learning process because modules can facilitate students in learning independently or face to face. Based on several explanations regarding the importance of modules in distance learning, the authors are interested in examine the effectiveness of using the descriptive Statistics Module in Online Learning in the Computerized Accounting Study Program, Banjarmasin State Polytechnic. The variables observed by the authors in this study were the learning outcomes of groups of students who were given a module and those who were not given a module in descriptive statistics courses. The two variables were carried out a Normality Test with the purpose of assessing the distribution of data in groups of data or variables, whether the data distribution was normally distributed. From the results of the data normality test, a test of the assumption of homogeneity of variance was then carried out to determine the variance of several populations was the same or not. Then a difference test was carried out to test the differences in the group of students who were given the module and the group of students who were not given the module in learning descriptive statistics courses. The data normality test was carried out using the SPSS Kolmogorov Smirnov Test application on the learning outcomes data for descriptive statistics courses for students who were given a module and those who were not given a module yielded a significance value of 0.101. The significance value of 0.101 was greater than 0.05 so it can be concluded that the research data met the assumption of normality. The homogeneity of variance test was carried out by analyzing the significance value of Levene's Test for Equality of Variance where the significance result was 0.466 so it can be concluded that the data had a homogeneous variance. The final stage of this analysis is to test the difference between the learning outcomes data of student groups who were given modules and not given modules by using the Independent Sample t Test. The test results showed a significance value of 0.021 where the significance value was less than 0.05. Thus it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis (H1) that states that "There is a significant difference between the learning outcomes of groups of students who are given a module and not given a module" can be accepted and verified statistically.
